The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

Well, just busted out my old school SNES games and played some Mega Man X3 for a change. Now I wanna get the PSX version just for the remixed music!!!

And also decided to finally get my PS2 modem connected to the net via dial-up, so the only thing I can play right now is Twisted Metal Online, but next week, I should be getting DSL for some Puzzle Kombat Online!

I also, need to continue DMC3…

Bored…Can’t believe I’m posting…

**Currently playing/practicing:**MvC2, CvS2 and a little bit of 3S…

I usually practice with my sister every few months, but until last month, it’s been over a year since we last played/practiced(Too busy and no one plays over here, and there’s no tournaments)

It was fun to enter tournaments and play the top players of San Diego(Genghis, ClockW0rk, ShadyK, Dios, Dan, Remixed, Mad Drifter, etc), Arizona, again(Charlie Goblyn, Digital Fox, Cham, Lynks, etc) and others…

Complaints:The only thing that I hated was we were having a bad day whenever we played, especially in SD(Didn’t feel like playing, but didn’t want to pass up all of that competition)…That sux because when you live in a different state, people can judge you and assume that you suck that bad all the time:lol: All of the players were pretty nice, though:smile:

Props: It was cool to switch off using Commando/Team Scrub with Genghis…He ownz me for free, though(Well…Not my Commando, J/K:lol: )

Dios is too beastly in MvC2…Probably the best SRK GD MvC2 player…J/K^_~

It was nice to see/play the AZ MvC2, CvS2, etc players again

Best of all, my sister & I recorded some dope matches(I can’t find some of them, though).

Ahhh…Comp is so great…Too bad there’s none over here…Or when there was a little, they complained about throws & assist being “cheap”.

I played 3S in SD for the first time in over 3 years, and it doesn’t seem as hard to play/learn as I thought. I think I might learn it as my 3rd tournament/competitive game(For whenever I move to the states). It’s fun, too.

Heh…I wish I had a copy of SFA3, I love that game<3

Peace

Beat God of War. Currently playing DMC3, could use any suggestions on what the fuck I sould level first. STill playing a lot of stella deus and Lumines on my spare time.

Also, Million if you really want a Double Dragon GB I believe I have one at work. I’ll check today and let you know.

Just got Namco X Capcom. Admittedly, I don’t know much Japanese and I’m new to Tactics-style games. However, that’s not stopping me; I decided it’s time to give something new a try and now’s a good a time as any.

Playing the hell out of the Vampire Collection, as well.

Also playing: Rival Schools/MvC2 as per usual (arcade), FFVII (PC) and will probably pick up FFT so I can learn the ropes of that type of game. I’ve gotten rusty at 3s/KOF lately. :[

First, make sure that you save your game each time you are about to face a boss. This way you keep all of the orbs that you collected during the level. In this manner, you should easily be able to have all weapons upgraded before you get new weapons. But still…

Esential Upgrades:
all Air Hikes (Rebellion; Agni & Rudra; Beowulf)
Stinger (Rebellion)
Revolver (Soul of Cerberus)
Windmill (Soul of Cerberus)
Jet Stream (Agni & Rudra)
Volume Up (Nevan)
Reverb Shock (Nevan)
Straight (Beowulf)
Rising Dragon (Beowulf)

Useful Upgrades:
firing rate increase for Kalina Ann
damage increase for Ebony & Ivory
damage increase for Spiral
pellet number increase for the Shotgun
lock-on shaft increase for Artemis
Whirlwind (Agni & Rudra)
Bat Rift (Nevan)

Worthless Crap:
Drive (Rebellion)
Air Raid (Nevan)

A note on Air Raid though. It is essential for one Secret Mission. But Rebellion has the same skill, and you don’t have to buy it for Rebellion. So Nevan’s is worthless. Also, be sure to buy Blue and Purple Orbs as you have the money, but I would suggest weapon upgrades first.

As for Combat Styles, it kind of depends on your personal preference. I would suggest Trickster and Royal Guard first, as they are generally the most useful vs. bosses. Then Swordmaster for attacks like Real Impact, Fire Storm, Danse Macabre, Crawler, Crazy Roll, and Crystal/Million Carats. Gunslinger last, as it is IMO the least useful. But it is still worth leveling for stuff like the Rapid Fires, Gunstinger, Point Blank Shot, Trick Shot, and Single Target Multi-Lock. But that’s all up to your playstyle, you may find Gunslinger to be your favorite. You will get two more styles before the end of the game, Quicksilver and Doppleganger. But they don’t require leveling, and are less useful anyway because they use your magic meter. QS provides what is basically Bullet Time, and DG is something like V-ism in SFA.

Anyway, there you go. I prolly rambled on for long enough.

Lol, L’Arachel is ber in that game. That is all.

as mentioned in another thread…Raze’s Hell is now finished! That game was hard even when I turned it down to “easy” difficulty, but I finally pulled through and beat the invincible Princess. Fittingly, that final battle is the most difficult part of the game.

For anyone who ever plays this great game…“Seekers” are crap. The concept of that particular weapon is great.(*it’s a dragonfly that Raze spits, and you then control it’s flight path and blow it up once it reaches your target)…but the control on it sucks. Once again…the infinitely retarded inverted flight sim bullshit control rears its ugly head there. The final areas of the game truly shine as the most fun…and the most demented visuals can be seen there since the setting is Kewtopia…imagine finally breaking into Teletubby Land and slaughtering the 'tubbies there where there’s all these bright colors and green hills and flowers…rainbows and sunshine, etc. Seeing Raze violently tear the Kewletts to pieces in this cutesy environment is hilarious, and captures exactly the vibe the developers of this game were going for. Since this is their home, a lot of the little guys are unarmed, and that makes for some easy kills, so the player can have much more fun.

And today I returned to the greatness that is Unreal Championship 2…I still love playing as Brock and Arclite…I tried out the grenade launcher today, but it’s just not me…the Flak is my baby…I have to have it. I also played around with Shock Rifle, and finally figured out how to do those combos…it’s not exactly easy in the heat of battle though, but damn it’s cool when you’re successful. I’ll probably stick with the Sniper though.

*sidenote—you can get a better look at your character when a match is over by hitting one of the directional buttons…that takes the score screen off so it’s just that final shot of your character if you won.

*once again…I LOVE shutting people’s special abilities down with Brock’s “Fear”…it’s like Arclite suddenly becomes invincible, and I’m just like “Nope.” I’m having too much fun with this character.

Conker Live and Reloaded —soon. Soooooon…oh yes, I will be all over that game like flies on shit when it comes out. I never played the N64 version, so it’s a new game for me.

Umm… let’s see now. Ever since I came back from the field, I’ve been playing mostly:

First to Fight (Oorah, Marine Corps!!) I love this game so far, feels like I’m back in Iraq!

Final Fantasy X (yeah, had to blow the dust off the case… and the game)

Goldeneye 007 (N64) (just out of the blue, some Marines wanted to play me in it and I hooked it up… good games, brought back memories)

MvC2 (yup… I still play this game, it’s like a hobby… on top of a hobby)

Same here, im stoked about this game, didnt play the original so i cant fuckin wait, i hope the online mode is hella fun

playing:LoZ:Wind Waker
Resident evil outbreak file 2

Somebody give me the lowdown on Katamari Damacy; thinking of picking that up.

beat shadow tower over the weekend, currently playing sotn until my genesis gets here

Ahhh…just finished RE4 first disc.Wow and wow,had no idea capcom went this far with adding all the bells and whisles !

I played some SSB Melee. Man, that game is soooo much fun. I actually had to relearn some of my old tactics. Been so long since I played. Gannondorf is still my boy. Dude’s raw power totally makes up for his lack of speed. It rocks to KO fools at a mere %60-%70. Man, i’d love to play against some good human players but the AI isn’t so bad, really. It has been a while since I’ve played my famous Metal Giants scenario. Oh that’s good stuff.

Just beat Dracula X Rondo of Blood again. This time at 92%. I think all I gotta do now is unlock Stage 5’ and I’ll be good to go.

yeah, G’s presence also kinda negates the whole point of playing Bowser, imo. G’s power is comparable, and then he surpasses Bowser in just about every aspect; speed, priority, range, and useful attacks. However, it’s been about 3 months now since settling into my new apartment, and I haven’t hooked up my GC yet…it’s still in a drawer. Xbox has just dominated my gaming time as of late…the the Ureal Champ2 demo, then the game itself, then Raze’s Hell and Midway Arcade Treasures 2, and Otogi…and then the Destroy All Humans demo, and Conker is about to hit…it’s just too much good stuff to keep up with.

there’s this game for GC----Chibi Robo—but unfortunately I’m almost sure that game has no chance in hell at a U.S. release. It’s clearly “too japanese” for the suits to think it would sell here. We probably have a better chance at seeing Doshin the Giant finally released here.(*OLD ass GC launch title…a “god game” that never came here, much to my dismay.)

time for more Unreal Champ2.

hey…speaking of the god games…do they just not sell? That genre is so incredibly rare it seems…besides Doshin all there is are 2 or 3 games on the PC every now and then that fit that description. I really can’t stand PC gaming, so that sucks for me. Black and White was going to have a Dreamcast release, but of course we all know how that went. (*Sega gave up = EVERYONE with games currently in development gave up too)

Hey Million, what is Otogi like? I’ve heard it mentioned a few times, but I don’t even know what genre it’s in.

Speaking of Destroy All Humans, have you seen the commercials for that game, Million? Freaking hilarious!!

Well I traded a ton of games in. Some games I hated and some games I bought but never played. Took the lot of 'em to Game Crazy and got $79 in store credit for those puppies. In all, I think I taded in over 30 games. What’d I get for my trade? Got the following used:

-X-Men Legends, PS2 $13.49
-Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, GC $16.19 (Screw you, Nintendo. I refuse to pay $50 for a game that should have become Player’s Choice a long time ago)
-Super Monkey ball 2, GC $13.49
-King of Fighters 2000/2001, PS2 $13.49
-Dark Stalkers, PS1 $7.19

EDIT: Does EGM still suck? I decided to join the MVP club at game Crazy and I got a free magazine subscription along with it. Everything else on the list didn’t really appeal to me so I went with EGM.

Nice haul. DD!! in particular is a fun one. Enjoy.
