The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

Well, I completed FFVI. Kefka wasn’t too bad. Quick is such a cheap spell.

Anyway, I’m now playing through Vagrant Story. I really love the atmosphere of this game, and it’s one of my favorite PSX RPGs. The only real drawback is that I never know what the hell I’m doing. The whole combining/weapon types/affinity thing is a little confusing. I’ve got all Hagane equipment and a few silver weapons, but bosses are still a pain in the ass despite my affinity against them. I usually rely on Heal and Reflect Damage to get the job done.

Next up: Arc the Lad Collection (if I can find it cheap)

Shoot on Kefka’s final form, I used up all my Elemental Shields on him. All take off 9999HP. You can basically rape him like that too.

oh man…you guys gotta get Raze’s Hell if you happen to be a fan of over-the-top mindless violence! You just go around killing these teletubby-ish creatures who are trying to impose their perfect nice-nice ways on the world…it’s beautiful. The character Raze has some interesting ways of killing these guys too…I like the rolling attack where he bowls them over…when they get hit hard from this, blood flies everywhere, and they smack the screen! To regain health, you have to inhale their bloody remains! NICE! This is great fun at only 20 bucks, folks. Sadly, I bet there’s a lot of negative reviews on it simply because the media side of our beloved industry has become almost as snobbish and pathetically uptight about things as critics in the film industry. They’d jump at the chance to look down on a game like this, regardless of whether or not it’s fun.

Forget whatever the reviews are saying, pick this one up when ya see it…I get a feeling it will be another one of those games few people know about that will eventually disappear.

I also finally got Otogi part 1…I’ll get to that later on…it was just 12 bucks!

I declared it to be Earthbound week, so I started playing Earthbound 0/Mother for the NES earlier. Once I get done with that, I’m going to relive some early adolescent memories with the SNES Earthbound, which is one of the greatest games I’ve ever played. God bless emulation.

Whats so bad about VJ 2 again? im home all day and its GAMING DAY! i opened up and started VJ 2 on adult rated, and im at the 2nd boss the egypt dude that sleeps alot, this game is hella fun, why is it selling so badly everywhere in bargin bins for 19.99 ;-;-;-;-;-;

I have no fucking clue.

Got this a couple weeks ago for $9.89 CDN new at EB and it’s such a great game.

LOLZ FIXED.

Damn this game(Raze’s Hell) got kinda tough so far…it was a bitch trying to get that 3rd “artifact”.

Stealth kills are great, but there’s not many opportunities at all for them…usually things are far too chaotic/dangerous to bother trying to sneak up on those little bastards.

I played about 3 and a half hours worth of UC2 online last night. I was using one Xbox to host a dedicated server, and playing on the other. I’m quickly growing tired of the Raiden and Selket freeze/coup de grace combo. Raiden must be toned down in the update, that’s for certain. Still had a good time though, many good games, got owned, and did a little owning of my own.

^one thing about Raiden…I’m almost certain he has a melee advantage…it seems like his stupid staff hits EVERYWHERE at all times.

I may start a separate thread for Raze’s Hell later on, to make sure the good word is spread. I just noticed…even the game’s manual is of surprisingly good quality considering this is a “budget title”.

Oh yeah…and so far it appears that Raze is under the tutelage of Satan. That’s just how that little floating dude comes off to me…either that or just an evil version of one of the Kewletts.(he’s playing the “mysterious mentor” role, and this is how the player learns about Raze’s abilities and such.)

Haha, I should have known you were going to do that.

If you’ve gotten Sacred Stones already, I strongly advise you to play it through Hard mode. It’s more fun that way.

ill try that, thanx

I <3 Alien Hominid.

A lot of the complaints about VJ2 come from comparisons to the first game:

  1. several bosses are practically straight rips from the first game
  2. no secret characters (first had 3 or 4 depending on version)
  3. humor is much weaker

Other problems include some really annoying/lame characters (both in terms of personality and in terms of method to fight them), much easier, Sylvia pretty much sucks, some of the bosses have rediculous health meters on UV (Frost Tiger has 18 meters), and finally the game just doesn’t ooze with style like the first did.

Raze’s Hell just got rediculous in terms of difficulty. I’m at a stage where the Kewletts are all over the place…there’s really no place to hide even for a second. Air is covered by helicopters, and there’s some super-cheap ass turret they have on one segment that shoots rapid fire yellow laser shots or something…and I still haven’t figured out a way around that. Raze simply is not quick enough to dodge the shots…if you’re seen by that thing, you’re dead.

WOO HOO! My PC Engine Duo-R system just came in right now.

Click for my victory dance :stuck_out_tongue:

As I said before the Hucard slot’s been region modded so I can still play my favorite Turbografx 16 Hucards.
Anyway played some:
>Dracula X Rondo of Blood (JPN)
>Youkai Douchuuki (JPN)
>Ninja Warriors (JPN)
>Bonk’s Adventure
>Tiger Road
>Ninja Spirit
>Riot Zone
>Final Zone II (JPN)
>Red/Last Alert (JPN)

I picked up Tales of Symphonia again a month back. I’m on my fourth playthrough, and it’s still fun. :-/

And Super Double Dragon. That rocked.

Speaking of which, the game is now $20 new. Game made the Player’s Choice lineup. I’ll be getting that sucker soon. My 'Cube could use some more loving.

More on Wario Ware: Twisted! This is a great game but I don’t like having to twist and spin my GBA SP for the majority of the games I play. Don’t get me wrong, this is a cool idea but I miss using the control pad for the mini-games. You still use the A button in a lot of games but the twisting of the GBA takes priority most of the time over everything else. I think they overdid it with that. As a result, I think I like the original Wario Ware better but I still enjoy Twisted!

But I did unlock 9-Volt today. Dude has the best mini-games in Twisted! NO ONE and I mean, NO ONE has mini-games that tops 9-Volts. Baseball, Super Mario Bros. 3, Balloon Fight, The Legend of Zelda, Kid Icarus, Mach Rider, Metroid. The way these games are done on here just rocks. I need to find some spirtes for Wario Ware characters so I can use them for avatars.

how much did you pay for this setup?

and dont forget to get splatterhouse, alien crush, and devil crush :badboy:

I’ve had most of the games for a long time. I once previously had a US Turbo Duo and it started acting all weird and eventually it died…approximately a day before my copy of Dracula X came in the mail.

But recently, a guy on the Neo Geo forums by the name of “D-Lite” modded and sold the PC Engine Duo-R for 220. But actually I paid 175 and also let him have my ordinary Turbografx 16 set which was just taking up space in the house.

In fact I saw D-Lite here on SRK before. He just hasn’t posted much. But if you want some high quality Turbo stuff, I flat out refer you to D-Lite.

Finally beat MGS3. Holy shit… :wow: :wow: :wow: . The last fight was too fucking cool for words.

Got a question. I didn’t play for a month after I saved during my fight with The End. I started the game up and he died because I let him down. Does this happen when you don’t play the game for awile or is it just the way it ends?
