The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

Ugh. Being sick sucks. Its tough to play my games because I’ve been sick for the alst 3 days. Who wants to have the day off work when yoou’re sick? Not I. I’ve been sleeping alot and slowly but surely I’m recovering but I want to get back to my games, blast it! Well at least I can play M&L.

I know I’m late as hell, but just recently been getting into DDRMax2 here. The game’s addicting as hell, can’t stop playing it. Been gaming a hell of a lot here actually, thank god for taking a year off school.

Thanks to D-Force, I’ve been sucked into PSO recently. I got to lv. 6, and barely pulled out a win against the damn Cave boss…we had a lv. 35 guy on our crew and it was still tough.

For anyone who plays, if you see a lv.6 black-suited HUmar guy named Fate running around, that’s me.

Better late than never. So fabulous, so fierce…so beautiful, so freaky-FREAK OUT!

Funny, I’m playing the same thing. I’m holed up in my house playing Zelda 2:Adventure of Link. So many good memories in this wonderful collection…

I feel ya. I felt like I was coming down with something all weekend, only for it to all clear up just in time for school! Crud.

Oh well, at least I got some more Wild ARMs in, whooped Harken’s ass hardcore with my 255 Power Apple “enhanced” Jack. Bwahaha.

Yeah man, freaky seeing the copyright at 1986. Like damn I started playing 20 years ago???

Update: I got my Serious Sam: Next Encounter for GC today during my lunch hour - so much for my daily mid-day nap.

It does the series justice…I’ll post some impressions later when I have a bit more time to spend with it, but from what I’ve seen so far, it’s worth far surpasses the $20 pricetag.

Well My sickness is almost all gone. I played some Mario & Luigi today and advanced a bit. Peach got kidnapped AGAIN (Mario must have a thing for those helpless broads) and now I’m looking for some pieces to a road or something and the Prince of the Bean Kingdom bet 9,999,999 coins that he’d get them before I did. Well I hope that fool is ready to pay up!

I played more Vice City but didn’t do any missions. I just played taxi driver. Most of the people got to their destinations on time. The people that didn’t? The idiots that only gave me 40 dumb seconds to drive them way across town? They get taken to a back alley or some other secluded area and they either get their head chopped off with my katana or get a bullet from my oozy.

For DDR Max 2 Ghosts on the Heavy level is owning the crap out of me. I can get it at a notch below normal tempo, but I lose it on regular tempo. Damn.

Serious Sam Impressions:

Well, where to start? Serious Sam is Serious Sam - the man is back, with some of the best one-liners he’s ever had!

Graphics - on the Gamecube, they are really good…they have a “soft” anti-aliased look - it’s not as sharp as it usually is, but it really works out this time. Where the surprise lies is in the fact that all the old enemies have been re-done and re-animated! It will really throw you off at first, because you’re used to seeing the regular running animation of Kamikaze Bombers just running up to you like they normally would, but this time, they have a “running” animation that looks great. Same for the other enemies, they all have new animation, and it looks great!

Controls - I thought that I’d try to get the PS2 version, because I figured that I’d miss that control pad…WRONG! The GC controller is PERFECT for this game. Once you get used to the position of the Yellow “C” stick, you’ll be off and on your way. Controls are customizable, of course but here’s the default setup. Only thing I changed about it was turning off the “inverse vertical” function.

Minor gripe about firing - The “L” and “R” buttons on the GC controller OBVIOUSLY weren’t meant to be pressed in rapidly, and the click the buttons make when you push it them completely inwards will annoy you for a bit before you get used to it. Luckily, there is rapid fire (same as before), but it’s not that good for when you want to do short bursts with the Uzis or keeping the chain gun primed.

EDIT - I just found out, you don’t have to push the buttons all the way in to fire, so problem solved with the “L/R” buttons.

L - Jump
R - Fire
Z - Information
B - Switch Ammo
A - Use
X/Y - Weapon Select Up/Down
C-Stick - Look Up/Down
Analog Stick - Look Left Right

Weapons - This is one of the best additions - not only are the old weapons back (along with new ones), but each weapon (except for the default desert eagles) has two functions! You press the “B” button to select between the different types of ammo with your current weapon. Now, the Chaingun has normal bullets and “homing bullets”. The Uzis (which are cool) have regular bullets and “ricochet” bullets, which is definitely great for taking out a bunch of baddies in an enclosed space. The rocket launcher has the normal rockets and rockets with a “wave distortion effect”. I didn’t find out what the distortion effect did to enemies, but it looked really spiffy!

3 - vehicles! I’ve only gotten to drive 1, the Serious Jeep, a hummer with Rocket Launchers. It really comes in handy, but I’ve only used it in one short area so far. It will save you ammo in the long run. If you are good with it, you can make it last the whole level that it is in. It seems more like an afterthought, but again, it can take out many enemies in a short amount of time.

Serious Killing Spree! - This starts when you kill a certain amount of enemies in a row. Sam yells “YEEEEEHAH!”, the sides of the screen turn yellow, so the next sequence of enemies that you kill for a certain time period earn you MASSIVE points. A nice little edition.

Sound - Sound Effects are PERFECT, with the various grunts of the enemies, and weapons effects. The Dolby is really kicking in this time. The music (from what I’ve heard) is reused in a few areas, but it doesn’t bother me. The tracks are still good, but I haven’t gotten far enough to judge the Soundtrack yet. Croteam had some very good music this time around (as usual), and of course, the heavy guitar and “fast-paced” themes are back. It’s a bit of step down from the previous installments, but again, still very good.

Co-Op and MultiPlay characters - This is REALLY fun. I played this with 2 friends yesterday. Had a blast. All the usual options, and so far, I believe it was 10 areas to choose from. I don’t know if you can open any up later, maybe as you beat the game?

The character designs for MP are overall lacking this year. I miss Serious Sammy and that black dude in the green suit with the afro, but there are a few good original designs, like Buzz Altman and Silicon Sam (a robot suit). The female characters are all butch and don’t look very good. But this is soon overlooked when you start playing the MP.

This game is VERY MUCH worth a purchase, even if it was $40. $20 is a STEAL.

Go and get it!

Back to FFT for me. This game is just the greatest thing ever.

I’m doing a SSCC (Straight Single Character Challenge) which means I’m trying to beat the game with just Ramza using only one class and no skills from another class. I’m at the end of Chapter 2. This shit is hard.

Not as hard as Alundra. God my brain hurts :depress:

I found my copy for cheap! Finally.

I used to have a file where Ramza had all the White Magic, Black Magic, Time Magic, and Yin-Yang Magic, plus all the calculator skills. I made him a Squire (his Squire has all the benefits of a Knight with very few drawbacks, if any). Guts + Calculated Magic = Scream, Yell, and spells from anywhere. Slap (SLAP) the Excalibur on him, Scream until it hurts, and nuke anything before it touches him. If anything DOES get near him, slash w/ said Excalibur.

I was just screwing around in Vice City today, killing people for cash anc chuckles but then I got up and did some missions for the Cubans and Hitans. I never have to work for either of them again. The Hitans I really didn’t care for. Their gang leard was that fraud-broad, Miss Cleo. Well she did her voice anyone and that was reason enough for those Hitan freaks to die. Now I’m going to help Love Fist (Hopefully for the last time.)

Bump.

I just de-leveled in FF11 today. I’m not touching that game again for weeks.

City of Heroes: fun. Not perfect, but fun. I haven’t leveled up too much just yet. I want to see how long I can go solo.

Metroid Prime: I never finished it. I’m going to start over and see how close to 100% I can get.

MMZ2: Still working on it.

Advance Wars > FFT. At least so far…

I’m so addicted to Vice City. I’ve been playing the game for 6+ hours on my days off. The real money is in the vigilante missions when you have a tank. I’ve collected over $100,000 alone on just these missions and it has made me rich. I’ve done both Print Works missions and I’m buying up any place that is for purchase now. Oh man, I love this game.

im startin break down xbox

Favorite character/game?

For me, the best multiplayer one is Kat/Ana’s, and the space asteroid one.

Just bought SSBM. God damn, unlocking characters is hella gay. As is Mario. I don’t see how DK is worse, nor how Mr. Game & Watch possibly could be. I bothered to beat that damn hand thing with Mario because it was supposed to unlock Dr. Mario, and even after all that work, and I still didn’t have Doc M.
