One of my favorite moments is in Sam 2. IIRC, it’s in the last level in the Palestinien section. Anyway, you get locked in this long yard, and various enemies start coming at you from the opposite end. First some Kleer and those rocket-wielding pig-men, then some bulls, etc. After the first wave, you get a chance at some health and a bit of ammo, and then wave 2 starts. Harpies, pumpkin-heads, kamikazees, rocket-mechs, and near the end even golems. It’s one of the craziest fights in the game. I went in with full health, full armor, all weapons, full ammo, and 2 bombs. Even with the packs and health in the middle, I finished the fight with 13 health, no armor, and no ammo for anything. Sheer craziness! Fun, but just plain nuts!
Wild ARMS. Man, that game was AWESOME! Rudy was my fav character in that game. When he cut off his arm to save his friends, revealing that he was a robot… top stuff. One of the best moments in any RPG. I have have AM2 but have not played it yet but I’ve heard how its the black sheep of the series. I’ll pick up WA3 sometime now that its GH.
The least few days I picked up Deus EX: The Conspiracy (PS2), Pocket Fighter (PS1), and R-Types (PS1).
KOTOR made me run 7 hour marathons of it until it was completed, light AND dark side.
Too good.
KOTOR = Best game of 2003
Heheh, yeah, I know what you are talking about. If you don’t go sideways and take out the bulls with missiles just right, they’ll be crossing you up in about 15 seconds.
I’ve learned that Kleer skeletons are suckers for the chaingun. You can take out the Kamikaze bombers with your regular weapons (since they come for you randomly from various sides), if you want to conserve ammo, or use short bursts of your tommy gun. The missiles are best reserved for the bulls, and cannonballs for when you get a whole bunch of them in a row. The blue walkers can be done in my tommy gun, and the red walkers by chaingun or missiles.
It’s insane, but that’s the fun! No matter how impossible it may look sometimes, it can be done.
On that particular sequence, I used the sniper against the Kleer until they started to get too close. One shot each. At short range, I prefer short bursts from the flamethrower while dodging in circles around them, letting each puff of flame burn for a little to conserve more ammo. For bulls, I generally try to do the flamthrower again while dodging, but if I have to get them from range rockets or grenades work best, or cannonballs when they are en masse and in a neat row. Kleer and bulls die pretty easily to the chainsaw as well, when they aren’t backed by good ranged fighters. For the laser-mechs, I use charged grenades; one hit each. I usually use the chain- or lasergun against groups of rocket-mechs, rockets against one or two. Definitely switch to revolvers for the kamikazees. Also, any charging character, such as pupmkinheads, bulls, and Kleer, all die pretty easily to the double-barrel.
Exactly.
It took me almost a week to clear the final level in Sam 2. The one that starts out in the long hallway and guys come down it at you. I like to back away while firing. Then there’s that one part where guys start coming from back the way you came as well. Good God! I almost had a heart attack. That final sequence just before the boss, where the sky grows dark and you have to defend that little square building as kamikazees pour at you from all sides was probably the hardest part of the whole series.
Well done. While I’d love to go through Final Fantasy 8 again (don’t worry, I’m going too soon!), I figured I’d give Final Fantasy X a try. I must say, I’m quite happy with what I’ve played. Did anybody else have trouble with understanding the Blitz Ball rules? I lost that first game.
I’m currently playing RE: Code Veronica on DC. I played a TINY bit of RE2 but stopped after 45 minutes because I hated the controls, so this is my first real RE game. Now I kind of “get” the game, cus I didn’t realize you aren’t supposed to kill every zombie, and that it’s more story driven. I like it so far.
I did two missions in Vice City tonight: I did a bike race and I got back Mithe’s bike back from a gang. Some of these missions are really getting tough but I’ve finished up the bike missions at least. Now I’m off to helped the screwed up looking band that is Love Fist.
I want to squeeze another game in along with VC and Mario & Luigi but I’ve got way too many games I haven’t finished.
Has anyone bought Serious Sam: The Next Encounter? I haven’t seen a copy of the game anywhere. Did they release it in a limited amount?
Man, Reggie, did they EVER do a limited release - and on top of that, they had distribution problems.
The best way to get it is to order it online, and if you see it, PICK IT UP IMMEDIATELY. Many places won’t even recieve this game.
I got the Gamecube versions instead of the PS2 version, but both are good. The GC just has a few extra effects that you wouldn’t notice if you only got the PS2 version.
This is one of those rare games that really snuck under my radar…I’d been waiting for the next Serious Sam game since I beat the last two, and I was expecting a least a little wave of news covering it. I didn’t even know it was being made. I went to www.gamestop.com and ordered it A.S.A.P.
So, is it really the next part of the story? All the screenshots looked like the Egyptian setting of Sam 1, but I saw some with Sam 2 powerups (specifically Serious Invulnerability). So is it Part 3?
I bought that Zelda collection for the Gamecube a couple of days ago so I’ve been playing the NES version. I never really got to play it all that much when I was a kid, so this is like a godsend. Makes me feel like I’m 8 years old all over again. Where the hell’s Kid Icarus at?
Oh and I forgot, I was playing Pokmon Silver again because my sister’s hogging the Ruby/Sapphire one. I’m still glad I haven’t lost my touch after 4 years, =p still levelling up like a biatch and doing it evenly. Already got the first 7 Johto badges and more to follow. What a great time killer.
Aw now this sucks. A game I really wanted to get my hands on and they screw up by doing a limited release. I guess I may have to order it online or just look for it in some of the places I rarely go shopping for games. I want to get the GC ver for multiplayer purposes.
Nah, I understood them quite well…it’s just that they make the Goers cheap as HELL. Jecht Shot owns those fools though, I actually beat them without it the first time I played.
