The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

I just beat Silent Hill 2 yesterday (This was tha most mind-fucking game I’ve ever played)

Currently playing:
Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions
GTA 3
…with myself (teehee)

I see I’ve found another one of the ten.

I agree with what you say. I was going to follow your advice, but…

I ended up messing around with Blue, as I had done the day before; I also messed around with Red and Asellus earlier this week; I used Red for at least part of last week as well.

Normally, I just mess around until I was either a)“Wiped Out” via combo or b) had my curiousity sated; I was it was namely Red getting his ass kicked in Sei’s tomb if I did die.

Anyway, what I was trying to see this time was if I use Gate to escape “inescapable” scenarios, such as Despair, Tanzer, and the Shield Card part of Mosperiburg; it would seem that Gate does indeed work anywhere except Hell…however, I didn’t try it in Omble (where I went this time) or the Luminous Labyrinth (where I couldn’t go this time…obviously). I’m not sure what consequences this will have, such as not being to go back to the “one time, escapable” deal and get the Shield Card even I wanted to… I doubt that I’m going to, since I’m trying for a “challenge” with Blue this time, and so I got the gift in Shadow Magic and have already got the Victory Rune and the Freedom Rune.

Speaking of that second rune, it was a bitch to get yet ironically is what sealed the deal in me saving. For you see, after I found that you could pursue both the gifts for Rune and Acrane Magic, I got Gen, Roufas, and Lisa.

Apropos Lisa, she proved how broken she was by learning the DSC in less than four hours (about three hours and thirty minutes, actually). Say it with me, “Damn…”

Anyway, Blue also learned Vermillion Sand, has mastered Realm Magic, and has almost mastered Shadow Magic (I still need Shadow Servant, damn it), Roufas had almost mastered guns, and I already have all three items from Sei’s Tomb. However, I almost got Wiped Out twice because I forgot to get whatever lets you see the lasers in Despair; those damned DobbyMec100s are quite formidable and it doesn’t help that sometimes they came with equally dangerous help, such as Living Muskets (which one shotted me…bad pun), Scorpions (which got KO Throw’ed and thus probably the most insolent), and, once, a Living Mirror (which nearly got Wiped Out once because it seems like it has auto-reflect magic on it…thank Death it couldn’t reverse Vermillion Sand or else I would have been screwed. Fortunately, the DobbyMec100s are vulnerable to Stun and Roufas had both QuickDraw and StunShot by then, which is the only thing saved me…especially considering T206 got killed like seven times and I thought Lisa would be dead by time I “felt things” out.

Of course, I was rather tired, and it didn’t help that on top nearly exhausting Blue via Vermillion Sand, that I was still trying to save enough JP to have two DSCs. So I had consiered using Gate about twice before I finally made my way through; on the more positive side, Gen, Roufas, Lisa, and Blue have 350+ HP and T206 got like three Specials from the DobbyMec100s, including SelfRepair (which I don’t even remember getting when I did T206’s quest).

Oh, and those battles were all harder than the Nidhig; hell, the SkullDrake was more difficult…but that might have been because I forgot to have the Vitality Rune on anyone besides Blue and I forgot to give Gen or Lisa Shield.

Anyway, the first round, I 2combo AcidBreath (Thunder in form of an Axebeak) and Roufas’s Cross Shot, then Lisa’s DSC did three hits, and then there was another 2combo with Gen’s Willow Branch and DarkSphere. The Nidhig then Centipede Crush’ed everyone and I got a bit worried…until I saw that it did only 100 damage to everyone except Roufas, who managed to dodge(?). After that, I remembered that Gen had Shield, and used it. Then, of course, Lisa obliterated the Nidhig with the second DSC, which did 17,304 this time. Needless to say, that killed it.

I decided to stop there, mainly this post is apparently long as it is; damn, I hate it when I do run-ons.

Really started playing StarFox now. Already up to the 8th mission. I’ve only been playing on the Bronze difficulty, though. I wanted to take it easy and get used to the flying parts. I’ll definitely go through on the Silver and Gold difficulties when I finish the Bronze.

My roommates and I also did some more multiplayer. The multiplayer on this game is just so fun. I’ve unlocked Peppy, and I hear Wolf is unlockable as well. I can tell that I’m getting better at the flying, too. I still lose, but at least I give them a run for their money now. There are these special rockets that can be guided by the player, and a game mode where everybody gets those with infinite ammo. Quite a blast.

2 is good, but part 1 is 10x more fucked up.

Started playing Chrono Trigger again, I never did have time to play through using a New Game+. I got the PSX version as a part of the FF4 bundle (slow and sucky, I know, but I haven’t seen the cutscenes before).

Found my old PSX copy of Rival Schools as well. Despite its flaws, galloping monkey shits I love the series to bits. (as you can tell by my current avatar. :P)

Been playing MGS3 (at The End now), almost done RE4 (Krauser fight), and DMC3.

All 3 of these games are fucking phenomenal IMO.

Ultimatestrider: yah, silent hill was some phukked up shite LOL. I thoroughly enjoyed that game. The sound on it was crazy. I really want to play SH3 but I want to wait until I have 5.1 surround to really get the most out of the creepy soundtrack. im not sure what to think of SH4 tho.

anyway progress report time:

  1. I am a little peeved at Beyond Good And Evil at the moment and have since put the game down until I am mollified. I am playing the PS2 version btw… And I was about 90% through the game I think, just finishing the Slaughterhouse. And after I left that area and went back to the city to start the next mission, I realized that I CANT because for some reason the game glitched and I dont have double H with me. He somehow did not leave the slaughterhouse with me in the boat (and the boat is not supposed to leave without BOTH parties in it) and I cannot get back in to see if hes like stuck there. and neither can I move on without him as many of the obstacles require the second person of course. The really fucked up thing is that when I left the slaughterhouse he showed up in the IRIS hideout. but when I went out he wasnt with me. So now since the only other save I have is like 5 hours back I am fairly peeved and have no interest in playing the game for quite some time. anyway, thats a pretty fuckin major bug in the game. Has anyone played this game? and if so on what version? so maybe I will go back to it after I finish Xeno2, KOTOR, and DMC3… but I dunno. Bugs like that really make me angry… and thats really too bad cause I really liked the game.

Anyway, since the whole Beyond Good and Evil fiasco, I have started Xenosaga 2. So far so good. Only about 2 hours in. I just met back up with Shion on Second Miltia. I have to say that i dont like the new look though. I think the anime look was better. And for some reason the textures dont look as good. But as long as the gameplay and story are there, then it shouldnt be a real issue.

SMB are also finishing side games for RE4. Assignment Ada is done. and we have completed only the first map of mercenaries with Leon with 4 stars. I think it will be slow going LOL.

Even though I’m at the last boss in Arc the Lad: ToS, I’ve decided to put it down and start up a quest in Devil May Cry. Sadly, I’ve never played either DMC 1 or Onimusha 1 yet…heck I’ve only briefly played Onimusha 2 briefly out of both series.

Other than that…still playing some Ragnarok Online. I’ll make the jump to WoW soon.

One of my roommates and I played multiplayer StarFox for about 5 hours last night. Unlocked a couple more maps and stuff. One of my roommates is really itching to pilot a Wolfen, so we’re working to unlcok that as soon as possible (150 vs matches).

Mercenaries is The Shit, IMO. Keep at it. I also tried to give him some advice in the thread about it, if you wanna look for it.

Feeling Blue.

Bah. More proof that Blue is absolutely broken follows.

I am in Yorkland at the moment. Well, it’s swamp more precisely. Except I’m not there to get the Grail Card, mostly because I cannot go back to Mosperiburg to get the Shield Card apparently, which means that you should NEVER Gate off of that mountain; of course, it could only be non-accessible due to the fact that I have three of the runes already…but I highly doubt that.

Anyway, back to Blue’s brokenness. I was (and still am) in the hellhole that is Yorkland’s swamp at the moment, trying to get StoneGaze for my three monsters (Thunder, Riki, and that stupid Slime that’s turning out to be more competent than Riki). This means that I have to fight Basklisks, which aren’t all that hard by themselves, since they hit hard but seem to miss StoneGaze a lot when they do use it; they have only been trouble when they show up with Living Muskets and Wvyerns; they show up with Treants and Banshees as well, but those monsters seem as those they’re not issues.

Apropos solitary Basklisks, I was getting rather frustrated that my monsters kept getting Horn and/or PoisonGrip whenever an attempt to absorb a Basklisk actually worked. So, I figured that it would be nice to see if I could start getting Blue ready to learn the DSC. He had already learned Sliding and would learn Suplex only three or so battles later, but this is the thing that really makes me wonder how the game let’s him be this good:

He manages to learn Sky Twister on the fifth time that he uses Punch ever. Yes, Sky Twister. A 10 JP Ultimate move that even Liza took forever to learn last time, and that’s when we fighting a freaking BlackDragon on Mosperiburg’s mountain. Yet here, Blue learns an attack that’s hard to get from Air Throw and even harder to get from Punch on the fifth try.

How the hell anyone be that good?! It’s not even that Sky Twister is all that powerful, it’s decent for an Ultimate move, but that’s really not the point. If Blue’s this strong already, without Overdrive (I’ve still not decided whether or not I’m going to get Space Magic instead of Time Magic since I’m sure that Rogue will kill my ass), then He must be God when gets that, all conflicting magic schools, AND Life Magic.

Hell’s Lord is going to be such a pushover.

Gah. I just realized I kept spelling Liza’s name as “Lisa”. gets DSC’ed

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I finally did manage to absorb StoneGaze for Slime and Thunder, though Riki kept getting killed because when it absorbed Horn for the umpteenth time it turned into a weak Armorphila (or whatever the hell it’s called). Slime turned into a Nightshade again, but Thunder managed to turned into one of the armless stone bust monsters that you fight in Hell. Wierd.

Riki’s a Nightside as well, which is only slightly better than what he was before.

Just beat story mode on StarFox Assualt. I was only playing at Bronze level, though. I’m not used to flying stuff, so I started out easy. I’ll move on to Silver either tonight or tomorrow. I saved everyone on every mission, so Wolf became available in multiplayer. He’s laughably overpowered, with maxed health and speed, top flying skills, and average jump height and on-foot skills. His only low rating is Landmaster driving.

I’m playing (and enjoying very much) KOF: Max Impact. I’m stuck on the 30 hits plus mission. My last mission to beat too. Anyone do this (not that anyone plays this game)?

Been Playing RE 4 and Halo 2. RE 4 is no joke (difficulty wise) the creatures are numerous and I hate those exploding sticks they throw!!!. Just started the game, Im at the part where I just met the merchant for the first time, all I did was upgrade Handgun Power, gonna save some $$$ for later.

Halo 2 beat it on normal a couple of weeks a go. Been playing Online, how many ppl on Srk Play??

Well I’m done with Sky Gunner. Didn’t beat it but I did get to the last level with Femme. The final boss had me trying to shoot 6 cross missiles at it but my dumb gunner kept overheating, which kills my access to special weapons such as cross missiles. So i said screw it. That said, the game was fun. Good dog fights and airiel combat.

I’ve decided to start some of my characters over on Budokai 3. I think I can manage their stats better now so I won’t waste points.

I’ll also be getting back into GTA: SA.

There’s a HUGE Halo 2 thread, pDizzle…I just don’t normally post in it because I don’t have Live.(.) I only play the single-player, and occasionally tolerate my other controller to get more acquainted with the multiplayer maps for when/if I do get online with it. (*tolerate --because that controller is made by Madcatz, so of course it’s retarded.)

Meanwhile in PSO, The foul demon force known as DOOKIEMAN, has been quickly evolving his powers. His rank odor became even more intensified as he approached level 117. Last night’s trip to the Ultimate Mines surprisingly yielded a rare object…the legendary Magic Rock Moola! Not knowing the full details of the magical rock…DOOKIEMAN only kept it as perhaps a snack later on. The journey to level 131 was more important.

try running around and stocking on cross missiles the first time copain/ciel ask you to do the cross missile thing instead of actually doing it. And then do it when you have like 40 of them.

I recently fell into a bit of a financial slump and to keep fro going crazy not being able to get RE4 and all the good new shit, i started buying shitloads of super-cheap old games on ebay.

im currently playing Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.

i was really surprised how good this is.

its not just “good for a ps1 game”

it is really freakin good compared to any game.

I like all the voice over and story and personality throughout it, not to mention its non linear and loads in the background so you never have to wait for loading. also the spectral plane/material plane thing is an awesome effect/game mechanic

Guys with dynamite are actually useful to you. If you shoot the hand holding dynamite, or even just shoot the dynamite in the air, it’ll explode and usually kill everyone near by.

I starting playing Katamari Damacy again last night. I had forgotten how much fun such a simple concept can be. Tonight I did Make a Star 7 (which, I keep on failing BTW) and I came across a couple of cops. They started shooting at me so I just rolled them up. And the screams of men, women and children after I roll them up. I feel a bit sad at first but then I start laughing about it and the guilt is gone.

I also played some Super Smash Bros. Melee tonight. I had forgotten that the settings were on Poke Balls anf on very high. So the whole fight was nothing tons and tons of Poke Balls being thrown. It was so chaotic.

I’m glad now that I held off for so long on getting the Sonic Mega Collection…apparently the Xbox version has Comix Zone!!..(*but you need a Sonic Heroes save to unlock it…I’ll just rent)

-ah…but the SF Anniversary Collection apparently comes out in a couple of days…and that definitely takes priority…(xbox version comes with the SF2 animated movie)

-What’s the point of the collector’s edition of RE4? There’s no soundtrack, and I forgot what came with it, but I was assuming a soundtrack…so I instantly stopped caring…I’ll settle for the “regular” RE4 when I decide to get it.

-suddenly, gc broadband adapters appear to be common at my usual Gamestop…heh, too bad there’s no use for them. GC has that huge TWO online game library that’s dying.(*3 I’ve heard…what’s the other one…I know of PSO and PSO Ep.3…are people counting PSO+ as the third?)

-I miss the “You Don’t Know Jack” game. I had some good times on that with my roommate and his girl, and others…it wasn’t totally 1 sided, but there were times where I absolutely destroyed them…with accompanying trash-talk of course. Does anyone remember the show? Paul “PeeWee” Reubens was the host…it only lasted a good 3 or 4 episodes though…I was probably the only person that watched. YDKJ was eventually released on playstation…but there was no need since we had the pc version in the room. This is just 1 more out of a near endless list of golden college memories for me…ohhh I need a time machine.
