The CSII Patch for Consoles

Hi everyone. Apparently it’s here for the XBOX360. It doesn’t seem like I get to play it anytime soon as ASW is not so fond of it’s European buyers somehow and even if they would be quicker with DLC, PSN is down and probably will be some time.

I’ve been waiting for this since CS came out so I’m curious, how is it?
And how is Rachel in particular :stuck_out_tongue:

If you have a 360 just make another account and set the Region to Japan or USA and dl the dlc since 360 dlc is region free. if you got a PS3 I heard you can at least play the game by the end of this week, but not get Plat till the end of this month. Also in follow up to your question about Rachel, better than CS, not as strong as CT, but she has all the pressure back and a few changes that make her able to win a fight without having to time out. Wall bounce system is changed for everyone, certain moves lost properties and gained others, it’s a lot of stuff best check dustloop for any character specific details.

I downloaded the update and Trinity, but I’ve been busy and haven’t had the chance to play. From what I’ve heard, the game mechanics were altered to the point where Challenge mode was completely reformed because so many of the combos were broken by the new mechanics. I was also told that a couple characters were gonna shift around on the tiers because of it, maybe not anything too substantial, but I’m glad to hear Rachel isn’t getting the ass-end anymore.

I downloaded the update last night on PSN. I think. The title screen seems different, I have Platinum’s avatar on the character select screen (PS Store is still not up, though, so I can’t get her), and I noticed that Lambda’s aerial sword combo has some different properties.

For those interested in the Lambda combo: you don’t have to jump cancel between jDD and 2DD. B/c of this, the full combo has changed from this:

6DD x 2DD jc jDD jc 2DD x 214D

To this:

6DD x 2DD jc jDD x 2DD jc jDD x 2DD x 214D

You can sneak in another round of the mid-air sword hits, inflicting a bit more damage (physically & psychologically) to whichever Ragna/Hazama/Litchi you’re playing at the time. The mid-air big sword distortion drive also seems to work as a finisher. (I did it once on accident while trying for Crescent Saber.)

[EDIT - removed a comment on move property changes that I’m not sure about.]

P.s.: Apologies if the annotation is off. I’ve never posted combo stuff, but I think this is how BB is done. Or close to it.

I’ll be buying the game for a few bucks and check out the update.
I have been playing CT because I hated CS balancing.
Although it happens at a terrible point where SFIV: AE is coming out too and I also want to play Arcana Heart 3…
Choices…

Bought it, Downloaded patch and am very satisfied thus far!

just curious is the CS2 patch the one that automatically DLed when you start the game for 700mb? I’m not sure since the title screen didn’t change.

It is the CS2 patch if you downloaded it recently. It doesn’t give any new story modes or anything, so only the gameplay and the combos in challenge mode change. You can check the top of the timer during matches for “Sys. Ver. 1.03” or “Type-D”, depending on your system (for me it shows 1.03 on X360 and Type-D on PS3). If it’s either one of those, the game is using the CS2 patch.

I’m really enjoying Bang right now, even though his new 623B (flame palm thrust thingie) with the lack of midscreen wallbounce cause his midscreen combos suffer to some extent. Also that you’re pretty much forced to use 2C > 623B, since 2C can be teched after it lands (granted that it’s not a counter hit).

Other than those two things he’s more fun than ever before.

Also, his 2B > 5B is rather silly.

Question… I just downloaded the newest patch, but didn’t buy Platinum. I was wondering will the game look different from standard CS, and will the extra DLC characters get arcade modes or story modes?

Nope, nothing looks different, other than the combos you’re supposed to pull off in CS2, and how the text changes above the timer during matches. Also, even though it sounds silly, the DLC characters do not come with Arcade or Story modes, making them a bit overpriced for my tastes.

Did the challenges change after BB:CS2?
I looked up some on YT and they were different from the ones I was doing with Valkenhayn.

I believe the handheld versions of the game have different challenges if you were looking at the PSP/3DS version, as far as I know though that should be the only changes.
