I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a seconds chance or wildcard round for someone eliminated to come back into the game.
If you can’t accept that alienating people is not conducive to a good community then perhaps you shouldn’t be part of it, spoiling it for other people.
It shouldn’t be some sort of sacrifice to not be sexist around women.
On the flipside, I thought Sherry’s interview was a bit of whiteknighting, especially with Sub Zero’s still in people’s minds. Saying the elimination match had the best rounds seen since the contest began seemed a bit much.
Thats how they (Alex Valle) should set it up. However, i still take Renic over Nerdjosh, even if Joshs performance today was a bit stronger. 1 on 1, Nerdjosh hasn’t impressed me yet, he seems to choke on the big stage. We will see
when did she say that? I want to see it.
So outside of half the world’s population, we’re cool.
I’ve seen jokes cracked on the white people for always losing, I’ve seen Floe and UltraDavid explain how they don’t count being white because they are jewish when someone said Floe is the only good white player, I know I’ve heard Steve crack jokes on white people live on WNF streams.
Again, everyone is made fun of. You say you want to be all inclusive except you’re clear as day saying we joking on women and whoever else is off limits. Why do they deserve special treatment? How are they so different and special than the rest of us?
I hope they do. As is, Renic Vs. Josh is the final when it happens; even if isn’t the last elimination match played.
Well, she seemed to be on the verge of tears, so it would be a bit harsh from Awkward Matt to get her to cry. Sub Zero could take it. Of course he whiteknighted, but it was okay in my book. And of course the fight sucked.
What’s with all this “trying to change” crap? Did Jared ever say that he was trying to force people to change? Because what I heard was that he was trying to reach out to the part of the community that isn’t into all the sexism. Which is fine. There are people who think video games are fun that enjoy playing them with people who aren’t going to be talking about licking their thighs and begging them to show pictures of their feet every 6 minutes, and there’s no reason why those people shouldn’t have a show on twitch.
This sounds like a quote straight out of Boardwalk Empire.
Yeah not what I meant at all but go ahead get snarky. Some of the poster I quoted post’s mentioned homophobia and racism, I just wanted to know if their were any examples of blatant homophobia or racism outside of comments.
I don’t really know why people would discriminate against women. It would certainly make events look and smell nicer if there were more chicks around.
It’s almost as if some of you are afraid of girls.
Couldn’t imagine that, lol.
Shoutouts to idiots like Starslayer who just blog about how the FGC doesn’t treat women right without even playing or being a part of it, while real female players like Sherry and Miranda actually just sit down and play. They go and put in the work to earn their respect, just like every male member of the community. There are always a few people like Aris who cross the line sometimes, but in general, I don’t think the FGC is harsh to women and minorities at all, it’s just that, unlike in a lot of other real-world situations, nobody gets special treatment. Ricky shows up to tournaments wearing booty shorts, but nobody gives him shit because they know for a fact he would decimate them in a match, as he has earned his top-player status by bodying people for years.
There’s a big difference. Things feel a hell of a lot more threatening and demeaning when you’re the minority.
I’m pretty sure the argument is that while no discrimination is acceptable, that sexism in particular is an issue within the FGC.
I don’t believe a white male could be put off the community through personal discrimination.
However, a young woman watching Miranda’s treatment may feel differently.
The effect your posts will have in actually changing opinions are not worth the time it spent to write them. I know it’s nice to be the voice of reason and prophet of equality but at the end of the day people’s minds don’t change. They die and then their kids are a little bit more liberal than they were… and so on and so forth.
People’s minds do change but often they’re just unaware. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s ever been such an unfortunate showcase as this stream. Perhaps some people will dig in their heels at the thought of their club being invaded, but that’s to be expected when demographics widen. I’m pretty sure that’s one of the reasons that the term “09er” is thrown about so much three years later.
It’s been alot of fun watching this all progress!
I think Hornet played very well in this game, he didn’t look anywhere near as nervous as in previous elimination games and he abused weaknesses he found… Bronsons lack of teching throws and being vulnerable to cross up tatsu’s… I think he did a hell of alot better then many of us would do under such pressure.
Moving on though I don’t see his Shoto team surviving NerdJosh or Renic… I hope he’s at least thought about this, those guys have played against Shoto’s for a looooong time, they will read his stuff all day long.
I don’t understand why some people want a huge influx of newer people who can’t take any shit talking, why are so many people concerned with the people that don’t even play now and not with the actual players that are playing right now?
Aris can be borderline sometimes but he uhh speak his mind and he is hilarious. One of my favorite player/commentators from the Tekken days. Not too shabby in Tekken too.
I would respectfully disagree.
