Rainlendar is a calender/to-do list type of application, if that’s what you need.
It’s desktop based and customizable with skins.

If it’s not one thing, it’s another.
Good alternatives for AV programs are Kaspersky, ESET NOD32, and maybe Avast. I use NOD32 personally.
Comodo actually has virus protection now, aside from the firewall. It’s Comodo Internet Security now.
The protection is pretty good. It caught a few bad files/trojans for me.
I used to use Rainmeter, is that a really really old version? Because I used it not too long ago, and I’m pretty sure Rainlender2 was out at the same time as well, but I simply ignored it because I only knew about Rainmeter, and I didn’t like it. Bloaty and didn’t have any program options, like to disable on startup and such. Is Rainlender better?
Rainlendar and Rainmeter are different progs.
Rainmeter right now is a desktop customization suite. Rainlendar is a basic calander, to-do list and events notifier.
I know we had an IT job thread a while back. I was curious if anyone had any links to certification … study guides and brain dumps and such. The one site i went to no longer has them.
I can’t remember the name on the firefox addon i had on my computer that lets you view your favorites on one screen in seperate windows.
All 3 of the Opera 10 betas have had this issue where they shutdown slow and kind of hang. I don’t know if ts saving history or settings/files on exit, but its gotten pretty annoying.
So for now I find myself using Firefox again until Opera is out of beta.
The sad thing is, after I installed the Speed Dial plugin and tweaked the mouse scroll speed, I find myself liking Firefox so much…
Edit: I think I figured out the Opera issue… its related to the synchronization.
I’m 1/2 way done on building my computer. So far, I have a NZXT Tempest case, Gigabyte GA-MA-770T (or whatever it is) mobo, Geforce 275 GTX GPU, LG DVD writer, Card Reader and Zalman 9500 fan with the Arctic Silver 5 Thermal compound.
Only 600 bucks for the components to finish my 1st build.
I will vouch for Malware Bytes. I started using it about 2 months ago and think it does a great job at hunting shit down.
For anti-virus I really like Kaspersky. Cheaper then the other anti-virus softwares but it really gets the job done, my company that I work for uses it also and this thing works awesome. Easily my #1 anti-virus.
Thinkgeek is one of my favorite websites and wow I could really use that thing too.

Another +1 for Kapersky. My company uses it as well and we have never had any issues with it. One of my personal machines had norton '09 installed and seems to work fine I guess.
 for Avast though. Several of our clients have it and it causes nothing but problems and seems to have issues with the volume of false positives it reports.
Oh okay. I guess Avast has gone by the wayside now, eh? So what does everyone suggest to everyone who can’t afford Kaspersky or NOD32? I was gonna say AVG, but that shit stays on your computer like Herpes.
The only other one I have worked with was McAffe. I didn’t hate it when I had it but to be fair my wife worked for Comcast at the time so it was free which jaded my expectations somewhat.
Also I would stay away from Trend Micro our clients who have that hate it too and much like AVG it never goes away from what I hear.
Honestly I feel you are better off saving up for Kapersky. I am sure there are other alternatives out there that work well, though probably not as well, for less but you get what you pay for in this arena.
I’ve been using Feedreader for a week or so now to view rss… I like it. I also liked FeedDemon, which I had before.
But recently I opted to start viewing feeds online via Google Reader.
It just feels right.
That’s the ‘problem’ with Google… everything just feels right.
Lifehacker had a poll, 18k ppl voted and 80% used Gmail instead of everything else.
Google is pwning the net.
Can anyone recommend me some DVD rip software? I am trying to convert my entire library to digital copy to stream around my house without the headache of messing with several hundred DVDs. I have some stuff now that is working but I feel like it could be better.
amazed look, deadpan voice Holy crap, so could I…
It would be nice if we could sticky this thread…the “Tech” forum really is nothing more than the following topics repeated over and over:
How do I build a custom stick?
Look at my custom stick.
How do I fix my custom stick?
Wireless sticks?
Stick exactly like the last 5, but with new art for upcoming game!!
Mod multi-system stick adaptors?
Totally awesome stick!! (well, just the art. The stick has been around for a decade and only saps think it’s new cuz of the new art)
Might as well call it the “Arcade Stick” forum.
My friend posted this on Tumblr the other day:

Supposedly a phone originally made by Microsoft that is only in Korea.
But people have been yelling fake, at the account that no battery compartment is noticeable.
Looked at the phone. Couldn’t really see myself using that what with it being see through. Then I looked to the sidebar.
Well hello there.
