Can anyone name some good software? Maintenance wise like defragger, reg cleaner, & etc. I use to use perfect disk, tuneup and ccleaner. I am open to try out others.
I signed up for my invite to google wave about 2 weeks ago and I still haven’t gotten it. I even used my gmail account. Looks cool though as to how much I’d use it or if I would even like I won’t know till I actually use it. GOOGLE SEND ME MY FUCKING INVITE.

I’ll pass on Google Wave. I don’t even know an instance where I would find it useful.
I can’t remember what page but someone posted a list of helpful applications in one of the earlier pages (1-3).
I think the one that fits what you need was called Malware Bytes.
If I get it I will mostly use it for business/school projects.
So the free trial on avast and norton ran out on me. Ive reread this thread and was wondering if I should dl the better of avilla/microsoft’s creation or pay for Kampersky or whatever its called. I would prefer something free but I do want good protection
Avira has a free antivirus. Give that a try!
Firefox 3.6 beta is out.
Changelog?
I’m loving it… even faster than 3.5.4.
But I think the fact that most of my addons are disabled (not compatible) has something to do with it.
Have you tried avast! or AVG?
Surprised there arent any more people using Media Monkey.
I’d probably get Media Monkey, but I just moved onto Foobar and I’ve already gotten into it.
Speaking of Foobar:
Dammit, I forgot to back up my Foobar files before I installed Windows 7!
Back to hunting for Foobar skins with all the necessary files all RAR’d/ZIP’d together…
What features does (free) Media Monkey offer that Winamp doesn’t? Not trying to flame; seriously asking.
Last time I checked in on it, they wanted me to pay more to be able to customize my smart playlists to the extent Winamp lets me do it for free. That’s make or break for me.
But maybe I could be swayed if MM is better at a lot of other things. Can it handle MP3 player playlists well?
Off-topic, but since this thread is back up, I’ll ask. Do any of you know of a simple program for ripping a DVD? There’s a site with guides I’d normally go to for this thing, but all those guides require like 3 or 4 programs and a long process. I just want to rip a DVD to a format that’s playable on both my computer and a Playstation 3.
Kaspersky and NOD32 are considered the best as for anti-virus. I personally can vouche for both of them. And I have personally used AVG/McAffe/Norton/Avast.
For malware/adware/spyware, I like Malwarebytes and Spybot Search and Destory. These are just my opinion, seems most people agree with Malwarebytes

I had Malwarebytes and Spybot both at the same time, however I found myself getting more results with Spybot than Malware so I automatically assumed Spybot was suiting me better [which lead to my uninstall of Malwarebytes]. I like this version of Spybot. It’s come a long way since it’s debut.
As for anti-virus, anyone here use Avira? I assumed it was doing a great job because whenever I would run a scan it wouldn’t catch anything. Thoughts?
You should have kept both since there are times when one scanner will pick up certain malware when the other one will not.
I use Avira and recommend it to those who need a virus scanner. It is good at catching things, auto-updates, and besides the one daily pop ad they give you, there is no reason to pay for one.
Yeah, the daily pop up is no biggie. If it’s caught stuff for you then I can chill knowing that it does work. I’m not a super careful web surfer, but when it kept bringing back ‘0 Found’ results every time, I was getting a little suspicious.
Note: Not that I’m cruising for a virus or anything but I had no way of knowing it was working without just blindly trusting it.
New report on malware removal software.
The detailed report

This. I kinda miss how Avast would let you know what its doing. Other than that, Im loving it.
Guess I should take my ass on down to filehippo and do some dl’ing.
Shouts out to Saitou again for the recommendation.
