If someone could use this app and work out all the best punishes for blanka in our bad match ups im pretty sure it would help alot… I dont have the time at the moment

Well while that link is useful, on the flip side it doesn’t tell you things like ranges.

I mean U1 is technically the best punish for a lot of stuff frame data wise, but when you factor in spacing, it won’t reach.

You’d have to go through everything manually.

Hmm, actually I did something like this. It was more a list of the most damage Blanka could do at a given range sorted by startup speed.

Also some moves work good in training mode, but online with lag just makes it nearly impossible. Many pleyers that have small but punishable recovery periods. Like punishing Cammy’s blocked spiral arrow with mk > lp > elec. I end up using cr lk > lp > elec or just lk > elec when I could be doing more damage. On some bad connections I’m lucky if I can get a throw. Hakan’s slide is even worse.

Wow, looking at that list Spiral arrow has lots of recovery, especially lk and mk.

Yeah even moves that can be punished relatively easy are abit of a chore online… Getting hit by a hp shoryuken after a whiffed one because you tried to punish is kinda what happens…

Its a good Idea though I mean working out all the distances shouldnt be to hard its working out the most punishing options and then remembering them for every character…

Wish there was one that showed you which move beats what

I’ll post my chart I made-just have to type it up. Basically I think of punishes as fast, medium, or slow and near or far. I looked for the best options at that distance.

juri anyone? i got my ass beat by one yesterday

how were you beaten? i’ve had problems with juri in the past but people seem to think it’s a free win for blanka. it’s difficult to U2 her out of her fireballs unless you guess because you don’t really know if she’s gonna release. her low jump and ambiguous crossups can also a pain to deal with (i only faced online juris with lots of input lag though…), and she can punish blocked balls with dash wheelkick. lots of priority in the air as well.

it feels like a slightly easier guile matchup to me.

i couldn’t get close, was very difficult to get through the fireball stuff. If you predict a fireball leg lift, it seems to beat all the pokes i tried to stuff it with, and the fireball release comes out real fast like a sonic boom and beats all your pokes too. you can’t jump over a fireball without being beaten cleanly with some sort of punch anti air she has (cr.mp?) if you hop over a low fireball you’re a large frame disadvantage, and all her bread and butter combos do about twice as much as yours. you can’t FA vs her much as her jump back dive kick breaks armour and can lead to ultra etc etc. i had to do balls and punish failed dash >wheel attempts to bring it close.

We messaged afterwards and he told me it was in blankas favour, a free win and he’d message me matchup details later but from my perspective she seemed to beat blanka but then again it was my first juri that knew what it was doing. and he said i clearly didn’t know the matchup, which i dont :slight_smile: i dont know any of the new matchups, i lose to all my friends who play new characters

Lame it out… build meter with full screen elec and close the distance using ex.hori or ex rainbow… the 1st part of her up kick beats slide and all blanka’s pokes and her c.mp, c.hp beats all jump ins… also all juri’s use the low fireball to stop slides as well… you can throw her out of her ex pinwheel and her counter move limiting her wake up options and punish backdashes with slide or c.hp…

Use ultra 1 because she can dive kick you out of ultra 2 ground version and ultra 1 can block punished pinwheels and divekicks… also random balls dont work on her because she can punish with dash lk.pinwheel… I play juri on the side when Im bored and If she wants to she can really lame it out againsts blanka whilsts his options are limited againsts her…

I believe her best punish is c.hp… ex.pinwheel which does around 238 dmg going by head here or maybe even more which is way more than blanka can dish out

shes got more stuff but thats the basics of juri really good anti airs, pokes, hop kick and can build meter and keep out/zone/turtle better than most characters

blanka has to try an predict a way in and punish mistakes trying to get a untechable knockdown so he can rape her on wake up…

Viper hasn’t really given me much trouble as Blanka, but then again neither has Blanka when I use Viper :lol:

All I know about this match is that blocked ball is a guaranteed Ultra for her if she picks U2 (seismo into Ultra), and she can do a U1 combo if you’re close to the corner. Her normals are slow so you can use hop/elec/throw mixups all day, and she’s pretty free on wakeup. Blanka wins the poking war by a country mile. If she starts using overhead mixups, evading with backdash or jump is your safest bet. cr.mp into m.tk spam doesn’t work in SSFIV because she’s barely safe against most chars on block, so you can jab her out of her next one. You’ll even catch her out of her pre-jump frames if she tries to jump. If it doesn’t hit deep, she’s in range for x-up shenanigans, but she can duck under it with cr.mk. You can c.crouch under x-up BK’s, but she usually recovers into time to block electricity. Otherwise you can just walk into the range where x-up BK will work then use focus bait. If she does lk overhead BK after a backthrow, electricity will beat it. It’s a mixup though so you pretty much have to guess. You can hop over seismos but if she knows how to mix them up properly it can be risky because EX seismo will catch you when you recover from the hop. Just wait for the EX flash before hopping and you’ll be safe.

Ed Ma’s Juri is filthy scary to play against. I do have a video tucked away when I out-poked him.

It’s a footsie match because you cannot jump or blanka ball Juri. Ever. Walk up, FA bait and play mid-screen. Hold your ground and counter-poke or just sniff out any kind of OS low forward or low strong as that is cancel-able to her spin kicks. She cannot, however, jump on you either or use her dive kicks effectively. It’s primarily a poke fest with her having more upside with the special-cancel normals of low forward and low strong, etc. Blanka should probably use standing lp more as it helps with beating her pokes and can be canceled into electricity. Never ball, it’s a free spin kick every time.

sorry perhaps I should clarify.

Most of the time nowadays I play at the arcades, so I’m playing original SF4 AE version without a bunch of characters. Mainly because, 1) no lag, 2) I live in Hong Kong now, so the arcade scene is unbelievably good

I do play Super at home… but playing at the arcade is definitely much more fun and I definitely get better much faster compared to online where most of the players I play are scrubbier and half the times i lose i feel like i lose to lag… and it pisses me off.

With that said… the viper I face does the following to me.

Sesimo like nuts or ex sesimo… i found out after blooking first one i can FA second and escape… but if the guy ex sesimo spams me… i’m screwed…

like el fuerte match… i kinda need to be smart about balling… not balling at all doesn’t work either because i need to give her that pressure she can’t spam moves. Problem is… when she starts faking specials and block… especially when i’m near corner i wanna cry.

Upballing her if i don’t knock her out of the air i’m gonna get hit back.

m.TK i dunno what to do …

she uses neutral jump MK? HK? as anti air, if i’m further away (which is unlikely because of Blanka’s jump arc) she uses the hp. tk

i think i’m just having a problem knowing what she’s afraid of…

Could you upload a video explaining the Bison match,whilst playing against a good Bison player? (Like you did,for the Cammy match.last year)
I played about 30 matches yesterday offline,against a friend who uses Bison.The match ties me up in knots.
I feel all i have available to me in this match is standing jab(Following a blocked scissor),and jumping fierce to stop devils reverse.
Good bisons wont allow you to jump in.I cant Ball.And the short scissors,and standing heavy kick stop any kind of offence i try to mount.
Its such a hard match.

I don’t have a ton of experience against Vanilla Viper, but I know she can be a bit of a pain because of spammable moves. I think her low health and weak normals give Blanka the advantage in this match though.

Viper is basically afraid of Blanka’s normals and wakeup pressure. Her normals are slow and don’t have massive range so you can outpoke her very easily. Usual mp/hp far lp. Trades usually end up in your favour. Slow normals means that she’s also susceptible to hop shenanigans. Once she gets knocked down she’s pretty much free.

There’s no reason to ever jump in on her when she’s on her feet so you don’t need to worry about neutral j.hp or hp TK. You can win this match entirely on the ground. Use hop into elect and fake crossup. Don’t press buttons against mp TK spam. She’s got a ton of ways to beat it and she’s pretty much safe on block in SFIV, not to mention that she can stun Blanka pretty easily. Just jump away (obviously punishable with hp TK is you abuse it), or if it doesn’t hit deep, go from cross-up j.mk into jab elect and then into mixups. Also, her f.mp overhead pretty much beats everything you have, which is even more reason just to avoid mp TK mixups completely.

In the corner, you’re pretty much free to EX Rainbow out against most Vipers, but good Vipers will know to look for it and punish with st.HK ([media=youtube]DkzaD78NAC4#t=2m09s[/media]). Noone has ever done this to me though.

FA bait at footsie range is risky because of mp TK, but it is fast enough to catch her out of cr.mp/mk xx TK if you time it properly. She can also use f.hk to break focus but this move is pretty slow.

EX Up Ball stops all x-up shenanigans, and you’re free to use it any time she doesn’t have meter (out of the corner, obviously).

If for some reason you do a ball combo and she blocks, do EX FADC. In other words, hold the FA for a bit a before releasing, and then dash back. It’s not that effective in SFIV because FA’s are slower but you’re basically guaranteed a crumple if presses a button at the wrong time.

Hop, ball or FA to avoid seismos. Seismo zoning is a mixup though so whatever you try is going to be risky. That’s just part of the Viper matchup. The thing is though Viper needs space to zone with seismo, so as long as you stay in her face she can’t use it (except for EX Seismo reversal). Knock her down once then just lock her down with hops, crossups and electricity.
