I ended up playing Cobelcog at SVB and was absolutely eaten alive. I’d already thought Cammy was a bad matchup, and had tried to prepare for it, but those games showed me just how much of an uphill battle it is for the green fella. MUCH worse than Boxer (who doesn’t really scare me that much) IMO.
This is the only matchup I am seriously considering having to use another character for. I haven’t given up quite yet, but a lack of any good Cammy players on my list isn’t helping.

I agree with The Mullah 100%. The Cammy matchup is ROUGH.
I tried going into training mode to see what normals I could use to stuff a variety of her moves. It was appalling. I think the only halfway reliable normal to stuff a cannon drill was cr.lk. There were some other normals that worked, but the risk/reward of stuffing cannon drill is so bad when you consider what’s at stake if you mess up… you’re giving Cammy a free shot at setting up meaty dive kick pressure. Unless there’s something huge about this matchup I haven’t found yet, I’m literally throwing up hail marys most of the round, or hoping the Cammy player doesn’t know the matchup, which is a terrible strategy.
Crouching MP stops Cammy’s jumpins and dive ins. You can also duck them but you can’t counter so she can probably throw you before you can do anything. Another strategy is to hop under when she jumps then immediately HP. It is a hell of a battle, ball can be punished no matter what and you can’t jump on her or hop through her, to set up any kind of mixup.
I also agree Cammy is a bad match up for Blanka, and like others said… yes I think Cammy>Boxer as well.
However I personally find baiting a bit with FA at long to mid range works alright… at this range she doesn’t have too many options that beats FA, and those option that does beat FA are fairly risky. If you don’t see it working well… you can always cancel to back dash… and watch and anticipate again… obviously like any strategies… you can’t only rely on this… but throwing it out once in awhile… seems to work out alright for me.

The problem with FA baiting is that a smart Cammy will just walk you to the corner.
Not sure what to do against abels push kick into change of direction strings on block. Can I ex up ball somewhere amidst all of that to get out of it?
precisely, and once you hit he corner you’re probably going to lose the round. ex rainbow wont getyou out safely if she has ultra and knows how to get around it
backdash, and if you get reset then reversal backdash as you land. its part of the reason abel beats blanka, you can expect him to rape you a little if you block his mk > dash. or you can block or neutral jump depending on your opponent. most would attack rather than tornado in my experience
also to the guy who said cr.mp beatscammys dives. good luck with that 50/50 guess whether you delay for the dive kick or do it early for the jump attack. i honestly wonder if offline its reactable to, maybe it is, i’m not exactly that young, my reflexes are pretty crap
A smart Blanka won’t always backdash out of a FA, forward cancel > your choice from there. Or you can walk forward yourself keeping FA on ready. Or you can just let the full charge go if she’s full screen away. You don’t have to back up unless you want to. Use your brain. There’s no reason to mindlessly spam it either, although, there’s very little she can do to stop you from spamming them from a couple of body lengths on out or closer if you have fast reflexes, spin knuckle is garbage because it’s slow backdash>slide. FA > her dive kick, just have to time it right, not hard. FA > cannon spike. She can really only stop it up close with combos or mashing. Cammy is a pussycat. Hilarious for some of you to say she’s a harder matchup than Rog.

Just any old Cammy? lol I will record one the next time I run across a good one and remember to record it. That’s more easily said than done because I have no way of knowing they’re good unless I’ve already fought them. And, when I beat them they usually won’t accept another fight. Not a lot of people main her to begin with. I could up fights against scrubby Cammies but that would defeat the point of it, unless that’s what you’re asking for. I don’t have enough hard drive space left to record every Cammy match I come across hoping they’re good, nor do I want to go through all that effort of constantly deleting matches against scrubs.
A good Cammy of course. You can save 150 replays on your drive. Once you beat one you consider to be good, save the replay from your battle log, record it, and upload it to YouTube or something. I want to see your strat.
Cammy match up is so effe’d up im honestly thinking of picking up chun to counter the bad match ups because unless your way more skilled than your opponent your fighting a uphill battle… people who think blanka is some easy mode character need to attend a tournament and see how far they get…
main reason my respect goes to the mullah… placing decently every tourney with blanka… trust me it takes so much effort
Honda, Bison, Sagat, Cammy, Guile, Rufus, Dhalsim, are just to much work and found regularly in tournament play… oh well back to the mountains again
Honda is my second best character, and I seem to have a better time against Cammy with him. Is that normal?
Also, I see Bison and Guile matchup as even or maybe 4.5/5.5. Rufus, Honda, Balrog a slight edge, with Sagat a little tougher. Dhalsim and Cammy are damn tough. Seth is also a bitch.
People that have trouble with charge characters have to remember to cross them over anytime possible to kill charge and keep pressure on, makes a big difference. It’s my number one goal against Guile and it works. He can’t flash kick you out of it. Works will on Bison also. Honda can deal with it with meter.
Obviously you have to forward dash sometimes based on spacing, but the problem here is that Cammy can punish your dash forward on reaction because Blanka’s dash is like 20 something frames. Even if you only eat a 1 hit drill, you don’t want to be knocked down.
Walking forward is decent, but it takes away your ability to FA fish because Cammy can punish an FA easily from close range. There is also the factor that if you walk forward it isn’t like Cammy is going to back off.
Okay now throwing out full charged level 3 focuses? Maybe you like being freely punished by dash -> drill, but I don’t.
I do. The thing is if the Cammy player knows the matchup you are basically fucked. If they don’t? Well you’re fine, but that is unlikely.
In Super I’m having way less trouble with Sagat because most of his damage to me was from uppercuts, st.hk and tiger knees. He’s easier to safeball, and U2 is pretty beastly against him.
