I posted this in eps thread but it hasnāt been answered, and iāve been getting punished by this crazy good white guy named don. Alex vaille told me heās the best white boy in the oc, anyways, here are my issues. Any help would be great.
I never really gave alex a whole lot of credit. After playing casually for a few months now, iām finding a lot of alex players to be quite threatning.
Heres my new list of issues:
Biggest fear is getting thrown. Iām affraid of powerbomb ticks, and dash in power bombs. Also dash in karas. Itās scary if the player can charge partition through the dash so if i poke they ex chargeā¦major damage and knockdown.
Knockdown! I have trouble dealing with finely tuned alex mix ups. People love wake up throwing, or tick set ups. Iām too afraid to parry, its so risky. I hate wake up ex uppers or supers cause if iām wrongā¦When iām in the corner i canāt wake up ssb. His wake up standing knee cancel to whatever is harsh on stun and damage, i think you get the picture.
Jumping in, alex can read the parry and powerbomb. Or s. mp cancel to ex knee grab, or delayed cr. hp to ex knee, s. mp to slash or ex slash. All do big damage, and reasonably difficult to parry.
I find that i can control alex when he is just standing around poking, and thinking for a way to get in, but i can only control him for so long. Usually Alex will start with the footsie attacks, how can i deal with this?
The stomp is bullshit. You can block, your right, but it sometimes gets behind you and hits you, and by sometimes i mean a lot if the player is good. Thatās the whole point in using it cause it is normaly cake to block. Well against dudley anyways i assume.
Basically i find myself throwing out st. fp, st. rh and waiting for the ex machine chain. Andā¦ thatās all i can say iāve been successful with so far, besides duck in throws and other damageless bullshit.
hm really good alex? my friend eli plays a really good alex, so i kinda feel u there. if ur getting owned that bad on wakeup try working on your footsies and get knocked down less. keep alex out of the air, because you have the advantage on the ground.
if they are dashing on you as a routine thing stick out c.mp to cancel into duck xx super to hit them out of the dash. . try empty jump, ssb for when he predicts your parry. alexās AA game isnt bad, so try to stay on the ground a little more and play footsies. if ur really desperate to wakeup with something try jab corkscrew, its relatively hard to punish.(alex can probably only punish with ex shoulder tackle or sweep). try to be a little more fearless too, but make good decisions. dudleyās reward for a successful parry is really big, so you have to be willing to take that risk sometimes. also, instead of working to get in, work to keep alex out instead, and standing your ground. try not to be so scared of getting powerbombed, while it does do decent damage it isnt nearly as bad as karakusa or hugos 360. alex has to outdamage dudley alot, and the only way he can really do this is if he gets on a roll on wakeup, so try not to get knocked down.
also this guy is probably really good, so you really shouldnt feel bad losing to him, just keep playing him and experiment different stuff. dont get discouraged and give up. if all else fails, pick chun-liā¦lol.

Iāve been trying to do a specific corner juggle on Q:
s.rh x EX MGB -> fierce Jet Uppercut -> s. strong x fierce Jet Uppercut
Thing is, I canāt get the s.strong to connect. Do I have to wait a bit after the first fierce jet uppercut? do I have to do it as soon as possible? I tried for about 20 min but I only got the s.strong to connect like onceā¦ Anyone know the timing on it?

the best links are IMO:

UOH -> super
twds + forward -> super
s. short, s. forward -> super - iād use this over s. short, s. forward, s. strong
there are other hit confirms (that arenāt called c. short, c. short xx super) into super, but they arenāt links. i would say theyāre somewhat in between. theyāre both really useful though:
s. strong or c. strong x duck xx super
s. roundhouse x duck xx super

Im having trouble doing the Foward Fierce Kick into SA. You know where he punches down onto the guy. I cant seem to time that properly. Could someone help me out?
First of all, theyāre hard anyway, soā¦ Practice, practice, practice. You canāt buffer(or only have like 3frames), so the qcfqcf+p has to be performed fast. Then keep practicing until you get the timing.
Secondā¦ it will only work on a ducking opponent. If you didnāt know already, ducking opponents have longer hit stuns. Like j.HK HK hcf+MK KxxSuper will land on some ducking opponents (in this combo, and others, they stay in a ducking state, so they keep receiving longer hit stuns).
My thoughts on LK,MK,MP string.
I use it tons. Kinda nice for rushdown and throw setups. The reason I use the MP sometimes is because, if theyāre ducking, youāll whiff, but still have a frame advantage, so you can take measures to keep them in block stun or go for the tick throw. If it lands, you can still link to the super, or finish with HP to get the damage. And if the MP is blocked, you still have a fame advantage as well.
From here i go for a hcf+LP, c.MPxxDucking, MK, c.HK, whatever! Depending on what your opponent likes to do.
