My mind is saying strong, but I don’t know why. Anyone else care to elaborate? My mind is only saying it comes out faster.
I like jab and short. Works for me, but I only fight scrub akumas.
From what I’ve seen, MP seems fast enough and is in the right angle to hit Akuma out of Demon Flip. I’m not too sure about what happens when Akuma is right on top though.
If you predict he’s going to do the Demon Flip and do it just as he jumps then t.MP will work but jump LP will definitely beat it. St.MP won’t beat it.
I feel like Alex vs Akuma is 5-5 matchup.
I give it 5.5-4.5 in Akuma’s favor but only because of Akuma’s tools and the extra shite he can do to Alex. It’s winnable for Alex but he’s still gotta work to get in a bit more against a good Akuma.
Just a thought:
Urien gets a good knock down on you midscreen, does Aegis and headbutt unblockable. You have Stungun and do HP Stungun on wakeup. It’s definitely not going to hit Urien but can it get you out of the setup?
Hard to setup this up in training so I’m making this post.
Assuming the Urien doesn’t do anything like jump-back and fierce or roundhouse, I’d say so. But if he does, I imagine that getting hit, pending the angle, could make you bounce onto the Aegis, causing untechable knockdown, and you’ll have to fight another mix-up. I apologize for the slight theory fighter here, but it’s the first thing that came to my mind.
Regarding demon flip, I think EX knee as soon as you see the flip is generally the safest option. Though I never do it for some reason. As stated meeting him in the air is solid. Standing strong is great but whether or not it works depends on when you press it and how late Gouki dive kicks (that’s assuming he does dive kick).
It should also be noted that Gouki has counters to these counters. If you try to air-to-air him he can empty demon flip, land then punish you while you’re still airborne and if you press strong, he can empty demon flip and land in time to parry it (So sick, that one).
For demon flip throw specifically, it’s hard to deal with once Gouki’s on top of you so hitting him near the apex of his flip is probably the best bet.
What the hell happened in this Chun Li match?

9 minutes in.
I think that was Kazuya, I can tell because he likes doing Stomps… But was that just a bad Chun or what? So many things I just haven’t seen an Alex do against Chun, particularly with the jump ins.
I don’t see anything odd about this. Late jump-in into stomp to punish Chun’s whiffed anti-air b+hp, c.lk to try and beat the start-up of Chun’s vastly superior normals, j.lp into power bomb is also pretty staple. Have to play the spacing game in this matchup since Chun out footsies Alex pretty hard.
Yeah. Kazuya anticipates Chun to stick a poke out and then jumps in to avoid AA attempts. Most Alex players do this a lot, in almost every match-ups.
As for whether or not the Chun was shit, Chun certainly isn’t Ebara’s main. He doesn’t seem 100% comfortable with her yet.
I think the Chun was just not that experienced. I’ve never seen an Alex get away with a j.LP into Powerbomb or MK into Flashchop. I think pretty much all of Chun’s AA’s beat the LP to start with and even if she blocks the LP she can still jab you out or kara throw you out I think.
That was Ebara Hugo playing Chun. He only started playing her not too long ago, so he’s still trying to get the hang of her(this also includes the Chun-Alex matchup).
Anyone have any matches with Genki vs Akuma players?
Bump.
genki is a fucking sweep MASTER.
no other alex player uses sweep as well.
He’s inspired me to use the button more. It is inexplicably effective. While I would love to have some reasoning for its success, I am not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.
Did you have any questions about that match up, boss?
I just wanted to see how he handled the matchup. It is as I would expect, play a little patient, corner Akuma, take some risks and Alex can afford it because of his relatively higher health and stun.
I was really hoping to see Genki play a gdlk, Kuroda-esque Akuma personally.
