France did get lamed out, but that’s the nature of competitive gaming.
If they’re not ready for JWong/marn, then they’re not ready.
The strongest lion gets dinner, is how I look at it.

Let me fix that for you.
@Magneto
So you wouldn’t complain if Japan flew down every year and took every SBO qual spot and nobody in America/Europe got to represent their country? Everybody knows that Japan is on a different level but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be able to represent our country and learn from the experience in Japan.
I’m sure you learn loads as a person and a player going to a foreign country like Japan, you’re going to soak in so much knowledge that you can take back to your home country and teach them. Europe needs this the most as they are a bit behind America.
I’m sure the US would have a problem with this.
Hey I’m not saying what they did wasn’t fucked up or anything, I think it is.
I’m just saying, they did what they had to, to get the job done…even if it meant qualifying over there because they couldn’t over here.
As for Japan flying over here and taking our spots, sure why not?
Cause it kind of defeats the purpose of having qualifiers over here anyway. Thankfully it has yet to happen. I guess at least arcade owners wouldn’t be responsible for sending the players to Japan
One aspect of this I really don’t like is how it starts to favor who has the means to fly to some far away qualifier at will. Of course long distance travel has always been part of the equation due to the limited number of qualifiers, but it’s too bad players have the option of paying for easier qualifiers.
Yeah, I wasn’t trying to be naive or anything. I know all of it is wrong.
I was just thinking more of the ‘eye for an eye’ mentality. Since we do it, I guess it’s only fair if it happens to us too.
i think its so low that they did that. europe’s spot is for them!
if they were afraid to battle it out for the denjin spot then they probably have no business being at SBO anyway. can’t handle the fiercest in the US and yet you wan to go face the fiercest in JAPAN!???!?!
TBH i think they should give the spot back and try for denjin and last chance quals instead.
Then what does that say about the Europeans that couldn’t even win their own qualifier? :looney:
SBO Update:
GGXXAC B6 Block - Zero (OS) / Yossan (IN) / Minami (CH) qualifies for SBO!
Most of all, what seems to be escaping everyone at the moment is that, if by some random stroke of luck and JWong/Marn was on their game raping everyone left and right and win the whole thing, Europe gets all the bragging rights since technically, those two represented them, not US.
Sure they are Americans, and yes they qualified for SBO. In the end, it was a European qualifiers thus earned the right to represent…
EUROPE!!!
Wee…
If Daigo and Kindevu, for instance, came down to Denjin and took the SBO qualifying spot, I don’t think US players would be in the wrong to say that it was messed up.
So just because they lose to US people that’s grounds for them not deserving to go? How the fuck is the community supposed to grow and get better anywhere with this kind of thought? Go fubar and Jonlo but Fuck team EUSA. I hope they get raped Hentai style over there. If they can’t compete in their own country they dont deserve to leave it. Not fly to another country and take that country’s chance.
Yeah but look at it this way; at least Denjin regulars got to play Daigo and Kindevu without having to step foot in Japan.
Haven’t a few Denjin regulars already been to (earned in their own country) their way to Japan multiple times in other games anyway?
It’s called
STEP YOUR GAME UP!
…or wait until next year when you guys change the rules. :wonder:
Besides, blame the SBO Committee for this; we had to deal with shit like this last year in the PlanetZero GG SBO qualifier where a member of the winning team was kicked out for some PlanetZero lackey. After whining and bitching about it, this year SBO told them that the entire winning team has to go, and unless something shady happens again, the entire winning team will be going.
Few does not = all. And Denjin SBO Quals aren’t until next month.
Then why couldn’t Marn and Justin “step their game up” for THAT instead? They could afford a ticket to Europe I’m sure they could afford it to Cali AND had a month to practice.
Interesting point. However, I think it would be better to send a few denjin regulars over to Japan, where they can play loads of Japanese pros rather than two, and then bring the stuff they learn back home to improve their community.
When Poongko, for instance, came down for the international championships, he hung out with the best players from So Cal, talked about how he would love to go to Evo, and talked about how he wants to gain knowledge abroad and bring it back to Korea to improve their game.
If Justin and Marn flew to Japan and qualified over there, would people be complaining? I don’t think so.
Just like in Japan, just because your not from that area doesn’t mean you cannot qualify there.
anybody got results for the showdown championships where Fubar/Jonlo won the SBO quals?
Did Justin and Marn attend that as well?
