I understand this is a new game and everything but isn’t this supposed to be a 2D tribute to both franchises? DPs need to be stronger to keep part of that SF spice on the recipe. Also I hear all this talk about how this game rewards footsies and yet the idea of a strong DP AA seems wrong that sounds a little contradicting. If anything that will encourage people to stay in the damn ground more often than now.
I don’t care if Pandora or Cross cancels do the trick I still feel a SF styled game with shitty AA normals and AA specials feels like its missing a piece of itself on concept. This is after all a Street Fighter game no matter how the SFxT players try to convince themselves that its otherwise. I love the game and since I love the game I ask for improvements on mechanics. I was even willing to get damage nerfs for a better uppercut. Damn…smh.
Just because you don’t care or hate shotos doesn’t mean its not an issue. After all you said " I just think" something that is clearly an opinion and not a fact. Everyone across the board needs all their AA options buffed. Even EWGFs. lol And I mean the entire cast. Yes, even Pac-man. He can get punished on his flip on HIT!
Same here. I wouldn’t mind an extra frame or two invuln but I don’t feel like Ryu absolutely must have it.
I am hesitant to make the sweeping statement that every character should have an infallible anti-air. Take a character like Chun for example. Imagine how ridiculous she would be if say, df. LK had upper body invincibility. Think of how dominant Law would be if his Somersault worked like a DP. Hell, if you gave Kazuya a decent AA, he’d be as broken as Cody. (har har)
That said, I don’t think any character should be completely helpless to jump-ins.
It turned into a troll thread, the OP was rewritten, somewhere down the line we started talking about the fine points of AA in SFxT, and now apparently East Coast v. West Coast is somehow related. I dunno. lol
If you’re salty about characters with full combos from AA, I would think your first thoughts would be Ibuki or Lili. It’s not like Juri’s c. HP is invincible from the chest up or anything crazy like that.
I think the entire roster should have options, but it needs to be balanced around how much anticipation is necessary for success. A character who can dominate the ground as effectively as Bison or Law should require a greater deal of effort to keep their opponent grounded one way or another. It seems the design intent of many Tekken characters was to forgo a traditional AA options in favor of encouraging air-to-air exchanges. I don’t agree with this, but that’s the state of things. It seems Capcom has had a change of heart in that regard considering their announcement about buffing the Tekken cast’s anti-air options.
When it comes down to it though, there are actually very few cast members who are completely helpless to jump-ins. Most characters have an option, but many require more anticipation than SF4 players are accustomed to. In some cases options are unreliable even when used with appropriate anticipation, and those are the ones I think need attention. Kazuya’s c. HP for example I think should receive hitbox tweaks to give it just a bit more leeway to connect. Another example is Asuka’s f. LK. It works just fine against about half of all jumping attacks, and trade or gets stuffed by the rest. I don’t like that design, given it is her only option that doesn’t eat meter. In her case, seeing as she is in need of general tweaks any way, I would add upperbody invincibility to the attack. I think it would suit her (while we’re at it how’s about a shoto range sweep? Pretty please?).
Internet forum about a game that’s cool to hate; this will always happen. Defend your game by ignoring the haters and playing it, not responding to every dude that says “lol game sucks prove me wrong”. Why do they matter? Unless the best discussion this section of the forums can get started is “why sfxt doesn’t suck”?
It s really just people are tight that its not Super Street Fighter 5. People wanted this game to overshadow street fighter but then they realized the two are very unsimilar to each other… Then complain about how cheap unbalanced, it is but still say UMVC3 is a good game. Oh well
I respect those thoughts and your analysis of the situation…and yeah this thread has sorta gone of out topic. However, if we can have a talk about the competitive aspect of SFxT in a serious note. Shouldn’t we be discussing what went down at the SF25 Anniversary qualifier?
This quallifiers showed what high level SFxT is all about. Ryan Hunter vs. Alex Valle was awesome as fuck, a very technical match imo. TZA vs. Xykes was very interesting, his Christie was awesome and sorta inspiring. Everything else was just week 1 regurgitation, just slap a different player to the same characters/setups that we see at any other SFxT qualifier.
Indeed, I am watching the archives right now…and I can see the good players that are attempting the game are riding mostly on fundamentals to get by. You can use week 1 stuff if you have fundamentals…but it does make the game not as interesting to watch from a spectator’s point of view.
Indeed. As a spectator and hardcore fan of the game im always eager to see what the next new tech or character is gonna bring to the table; but the competition is at its lowest atm in terms of overall performance. At this point in its life span week 1 shouldnt be this rewarding. Thats like me going to evo and blowing up everyone in umvc3 with week 1 combos and setups. Thats why i love the ryan vs. Valle match so much. Sure valle has the spacing, footsies, etc. But that wasnt enough to put ryan down. Not trying to take any thing way feom alex, because there were a few times he got ryan on those counter reads. Just wish more people took the time to read the book instead of skimming a few pages and expect to write a full report.
Sorry silph I just don’t agree with most of your stand points. This game has way to many mechanics that can be abused, and the fact a veteran player is forgetting to admit obvious flaws is utterly shocking. As you already know I’m not a “random casual”, execution zoning and meter/health management is not a skillful factor in this game. It’s character/gem dependent and sfxt players will always find a way to exploit/lame you (jibbo and ryan have already exposed this). The fact that you have to play certain players with “ethics” to enjoy a game is utterly appalling. Sure some people may object my view points on here, but I general identify these people and beat them with their own stupid mechanics and they never quote me again (derp derp). In all honestly I love fighting games and have played many but capcom has handled this game in an offensive nature. The sfxt team does not listen to what fan’s want, grey health has been a major issue since release and the only fix they gave us was more DLC gems, a rolento dagger that freezes your console and resets your earned titles, and a promise patch that never happened a year later. On top of that they never addressed the sexist incident that happen during their opening streams of sfxt (females do want to play games but dealing with douche bags at tournaments regularly is extremely unappealing). Its interesting how different companies interact with their fan base. I’m a huge dead space fan even if i find it super scary. I see people posting on the DS fan page and someone from PR is always listening/responding to peoples suggestions and concerns (I always buy their DLC). I posted a review of TTT2 on their facebook page and jokely stated I couldn’t use their midnight preorder release yoshimitsu costume, and the rep asked me for my info ( Its gender based only males can wear it. I gave the code to vulcan hades hehe). I checked my email two days ago and had an exclusive kunimitsu custom code, I cant even imagen what that must of cost to make possible can you say “bad ass” 0.o? Bottom line SFxT needs to be fixed and capcom need to listen to their fan base more or no one is going to be playing their fail/money milking game in tournaments.
All the obscene amount of nerfs that Capcom has implemented so far are starting to kill off the interest for me on this game. Really stupid shit. As I said before, I rather have balance done in buff aspects. This game is gonna get sorta watered down with lots of average meh characters. It’s getting the SFIV treatment and that kinda sucks. Here I was hoping they would have been done with that BS from SFIV. But not.
Nerfing Ryu in every single update is definitely getting old and ridiculous. But hey, the scrubs, the crybabies and the haters of zoning are happy so more power to them I guess. Since they have the louder voice.
I will give the game the benefit of the doubt and try it when it gets re-released. But seeing these changes and these nerfs is making me go like SMH at these fools. The currently balancing team clearly sucks.
I hear that in the next update, Ryu will get his cr. mk amputated and that the hadoken will leave you at negative 60 frames of recovery. You know cause Ryu is cheap and broken.
