THE Combo Video thread (New Releases + Commentary)

so what about that CvS2 vid? Did anyone find it

BucketHead: Haha, persistence is good. Here you go: http://www.combovideos.com/page.php?id=808

Hey if anyone likes crazy C-groove Kim combos and cool A-groove combos you should watch this vid but you might have log in to CV prior to clicking on the link

BucketHead: Dude i just watched the video and your name is in the credits. Heh, there’s no shame in promoting your own video though. A lot of the A-Groove combos are pretty stylish, i gotta admit. There just wasn’t anything in the video that surprised me, but maybe it’s a bad idea to use that as a grading criteria. How long did it take you guys to do the whole thing? When will you be making more?

After seeing the latest Tool Assisted Console Game Movies, I’m starting to think their getting a bit boring. I usually only watch the ones with “No Death Abuse”, or complete all levels. But now, most of the no death ones are getting obsolete.

Example: A level skip/death SMB3 speed run just obsoletes a no death all level speed run.

Usually, I watch the no death stuff to kinda learn how to get past a certain level without dying. Also, most of the Zelda stuff there now abuses the reset screen. Now, I rather watch the Zelda stuff nonstop and no resets.

Thanks goodness I go here now for most of my speed run fix:

We did that vid like a year 1/2 ago but it only took about 2 or 3 days so it’s cool, we just like to showcase combos that are advanced but pratical in a match. Don’t get me wrong, the bugs and impossible combos are cool too but they just seem like a waste of time seeing as how were always playing competitively and don’t try too many crazy things in a match so everything in the vid are things we normally do against each other but that was a year ago and my boy Ron-O just said the other day that we should make another vid and anybody is welcome to colaborate if they have some cool stuff because we have all the equip needed.

woah awesome thanks for the tenka vids Maj, I didn’t know enja had just frames on so many of his moves. And I only saw a few links. outside of the funny enlightenment combos.

I think Tool-Assisted Speedruns only cater to two groups of people - those within the TAS community and those who have very little interest in actually playing those games again. The standards set by the TAS community itself make it impossible for people to manually duplicate the stuff that goes on in these videos.

Human speedruns would be cool if i was still playing Sonic 2, but these days a lot of us are way more interested in theory fighter than playing video games … weird as that sounds. I just download these videos to watch Sonic go fast and to talk to my friends about them. But you’re definately right - some speedruns do get refined to a point where you eliminate even the spectator audience. Then, the only people who understand enough about what’s going on to appreciate it are the hardcore guys within the TAS community.

Seems like Persona just uploaded a couple of Samurai Shodown videos in honor of Tenka just getting released. One is from SS3 and the other from SS4. Both are pretty damn good, and there’s lots of those awesome pauses inbetween combo hits that the SamSho series is known for.

Can anyone provide some specific details on what we should be impressed by? A lot of the SS4 content includes infinites (i think?) like: chain combo, long hitstun special move, move forward, chain combo …

Guess who’s got a new website!

Everybody go talk shit on GTA, MK, DBZ, basketball, and generally anything else that isn’t SF2. Just don’t post stupid shit because omni is the people’s champion! You may as well bookmark it now. Can’t block omneto!

KoF Battlepage always has a bunch of combo videos available for streaming. Obviously most of them feature KoF games. The KoF95 video at the top (#133) is pretty good.

Pretty sad how eKiN was the only person here to leave a message on omni’s blog. Lazy bastards, all of youse.

Hmm, interesting SS4 combos. I can tell that’s the PS2 version. Also, most of the combos look like the “attack from behind” combos, so I think they can’t be blocked.

Which reminds me, I better continue with mine. Like I said, won’t be much. Mostly, just basic attack from the front combos, unblockable of course. Also, there are some attack from front infinities that can’t be blocked in the middle, which I’ll also include. But some are extremely hard, like Bust Haoumaru’s with the DP+D move. Also Genjuro’s is hard, since chain timing is weird on this one and also have to cancel to his QCB+A move to rechain.

I don’t know, most of those infinities I mention are on some FAQ and I may just don’t make a video of these. Unless giving credit to that FAQ is OK.

When did Y2J wind up in Australia? Maybe it’s a different person from the dude in Irvine. Anyway this video rocks. Just remember that a lot of XSF tournaments ban infinites, so be careful how you use your newly honed unstoppable tactics.

You should give credit to the guy who made the FAQ and email him a link to your video. At the very least, that’s one more person who will watch your video. Plus people are always psyched to see their name dropped.

I think the bigger issue is whether or not there’s enough people out there who care about SS4 to justify making a combo video. Most SS4 combo videos were made quite a while ago, and most of that audience might be gone by now. It’s up to you to decide how many viewers it takes to justify the effort of making a video.

An old console ST Akuma glitch video by Mike Z and an old Tobal 2 combo video from fighters.net just showed up on CV. Both are entertaining. I guess Capcom didn’t bother to give Akuma’s console-only Raging Demon super any invincibility, so the whole game freezes when random stuff interrupts it. There are some Tosaka ST videos out there that use this in setups. Tobal 2 is an obscure PS1 fighting game and some of their character designs are pretty cool. It’s a short vid, with one combo per character.

Four 3S match videos are available on TRF right now. The Ryu mirror match is pretty awesome, as is the Twelve vs Oro match. One Ryu player plays wakeup footsies using low fierce, while the other Ryu player is a bully with kara-throws. The Twelve player has some serious Marvel mashing skills when it comes to QCF+P. The two where Chun Li wins are not as fun to watch.

I remember a little while ago someone requested to see TZW’s combos for Street Fighter: The Movie Game (Real Battle On Film!)…whoever that person was, you will probably regret it…

Usually after I post a link to a vid, I say “Enjoy!”, but it’s pretty hard to enjoy any vid for this game…

Truly horrifying.

(NOTE! This is not the whole vid. TZW Volume 5 is about an hour or so long. This is only the combos for SF: The Movie.)

Kind of a short release, but worth watching nonetheless. To tell you the truth, nothing new if you’re name is Majestros.

check out the Obot thread for details.

edit: bookmarks thread and deletes video-opera link…how sad.

LOL, adding Japanese voices to the actors seem kinda funny. Also yeah, Guile’s broken when at full bar. And yeah, I’m sort of correct on the normal moves almost being like on SSF2 Turbo.

I noticed the beginning parodies the Gradius 2 opening. It also flashes pics of other vids. I wonder if there’s non fighting game vids, mainly the TwinBee Yahhoo one? I’d like to see a superplay of that.

Hmm, well it seems I can’t find any tutorial like videos on this, I guess I could make one. Also, maybe I’ll try doing Rage Explosion combos, but I don’t know that one video I linked to one time did cover everyone’s 100% Rage Explosion combo.

Vic Viper - I think TZW also does vids for shooters, but I’m not sure. A lot of his SF vids have clips of shooters in them, but they never actually contain clips of him playing, so I dunno.

Also, please note that this is not his entire Volume 5. This is only the combos for SFTM.

What are you talking about NKI!? SFthe movie is actually my favorite fight game of all time…I truly believe it to be the best game ever. Can you do a combo vid for me? I request to see some cheap combos with my favorite character, MaBison. Can you break the game into a million pieces and then show me the shards that remain? I’ll be your best friend…
