The Clothes Thread vol. 2 | SRK's WDYWT Thread

Probably a silly question but I have seen this one dude where this black, high, round collar top. The collar is very similar to one Shino has in Naruto but for the life of me I cant find it at all. Ive tried all sorts of searches on google lol.

Any help guys?

Thanks

Probably just a high collar North Face, Helly Hansen jacket. Very popular in NYC winters. Maybe that old Triumvir Seersucker Parka I was looking for that the longest but it’s no longer in production IIRC.

I remember one time I was walking by his store and this group of people come out and one of the guys yells out “Blasphemy!”

Anyone else hype for the POP Lebron’s?

I’m kind of a stan for the Concord XIs, so I think that’s where my attraction stems from.

Is this thread all about black fashion? Or can non-blacks post here, too?

Was gonna sign up anyway, might as well help out, used your reff link.

race is irrelevant.

Not according to fashion.

The sneakers talked about so far are pretty much hip-hop central. I wouldn’t pay out the ass for sneakers but I would for good pair of leather boots that will last me much longer. I was going to ask about a suit cut but I don’t think any of you would actually know now that I’ve read some of this thread.

All i wear iz polo ranger bootz, dawg.

Fuck Ranger boots son its all about Timberland Abington Collection boots.

  1. many of us have full time jobs that require us to wear suits, ties, etc. and a lot of us have boots, moccasins, etc. i’m sure. most of us on srk kinda “grew up with each other” so to speak. we’re mostly in our mid-late 20’s, i would imagine.
  2. jordans, dunks, and other nike retro sneakers transcend music. if you’ve ever lined up for sneakers in your life then you’d know that the crowds are mixed (or mostly asian to be honest). most ppl that you’re probably thinking of when you think about expensive sneakers don’t have that type of knowledge so they don’t camp out/queue, etc.

for example supreme campouts:

You rockin Polo Ranger boots in the Spring/Summer in Jersey City? That ain’t wavy, you ol’ Urban Ranger Rick, only you can prevent forest fires, ass nicca.

Where’s your casual shit at? You can’t keep it Dapper Dan 100% of the day.

Word.

I have to wear a suit everyday so I have a closest full of tailored suits. A few dolce’s, mostly Ralph Lauren though…I want to get more Dolce fits though.

Thick as Thieves makes some badass MTM suits. They are based in LA.

I will definitely agree that the streetwear culture is not race-neutral, but it’s all-race-inclusive which is what makes it exciting. So there is no doubt that you see a lot of American hiphop culture influence, but a lot of influence comes from Asia, Europe, and elsewhere in the world as well.

Also, if you’re a informed enough music listener, you would know that hiphop (note: good hiphop) today is a global phenomenon. U.S. is still home to the best MC’s, but most of today’s top tier producers are in Japan and one of my all time fav producer Nicolay is from the Netherlands.

Saying stuff like sneakers are for black people today is almost as silly as saying skate boarding is only for white people.

And like debs said, I wear a suit to work almost everyday, so I like to sport the streetwear look whenever I got the chance. Fridays are jeans day at work for me, so I actually make that a excuse to wear sneakers too. Last Friday I wore the eggplant Foamposites, today I’m rocking the Hot Lava Air Max 95.

EDIT: Mind fart… I wore the Rising Sun Air Jordan XII last week. Eggplants were a week before that.

I’m on the fence. Might get the Concord one if I don’t have anything else I want the week it drops… But Nike’s been crazy so far this year so I’m sure I will have others that piques my interest as well.

Silver Anniversary Air Jordan III, IV and IX are dropping tomorrow. Anybody know if they all come with the silver suitcases with egg carton foam inside?

I think if you are into fashion, you have a place in the street wear culture (as goofy as that sounds). I am white, and have no interest in hip hop (or Nike for that matter), but I don’t really feel out of place.

How is there an SRK poster from Jersey City that I don’t know about?

I don’t tend to wear that type of clothes. I still wear my grungy Ramones tee and skinny jeans but I always thought the fascination with expensive sneakers is ridiculous. I pay $900 for custom made boots but those will last me 20 years. How long will a pair of $200 sneakers last?

Think of them as any other piece of wardrobe you own… like shirts. The more you got, the more versatile style is. You would probably think somebody wearing the same shirt almost everyday as being tasteless.

We feel the same way about shoes, too. To us, it’s a combination of common sensibility + collector’s novelty.
