With the exception of Sodom, who is all but confirmed as of now, I think Cody is the most likely character on this list to make it into SFV. While I had some initial concerns that he might not make it due to Ed filling the similar brawler role, I think Cody has a few things that allow him to exist alongside Ed.

  • Cody is historically a motion character, with a TAP move
  • The knife mechanic doesn’t exist with any other character in Street Fighter
  • Cody’s effective range/mobility is higher due to Ruffian Kick

So, how would Cody play? I see him as a sort of stance character that alternates between close range brawling and poking with his knife. I’m not going to go through his entire move list, as SF4 did a good job of laying the foundation. Rather, I’ll describe him in terms of what changes he would get going into SFV.

  • Normals/Crush Counters: In general, Cody’s normals are the close version from SF4. st.HP is one of the fastest CC normals in the game, causing a stagger on counter hit. st.HK and Crack Kick both allow for juggle combos on counter hit. He also has his f.LP target combo from Final Fight/Omega SF4.
  • V-Skill: Bad Sway. Cody does a dodge attack, and performs his Zonk Knuckle special if the buttons are held. Cody can choose to dodge high/mid attacks with the neutral input, or dodge lows/crouching attacks with the down input.
  • Specials: Bad Stone/knife toss works much differently, having more of an arc than before. The LP version is good at covering the ground, while the MP/HP versions can go over other projectiles and anti-air. Criminal Upper’s tornado destroys all projectiles. Cody can cancel into knife pickup as a special, and punching the knife after a certain point in its trajectory/hits the opponent allows Cody to grab it out of the air as part of the attack, entering knife stance after recovering.
  • V-Reversal: Mega Crash. Cody’s kick move from Final Fight. It’s throw invincible from frame 1 and hits on both sides, but the 2nd hit comes out a bit slowly and the move is very unsafe on block.
  • V-Triggers: VT1 is the oft-requested “Handcuff Break” ability. For the rest of the round, Cody deals 15% more damage and can pick up his knife from any part of the screen so long as it is on the ground, pulling out a new knife in the animation. VT2 is “Dust Devil”, based on his Bad Spray and the 1st hit of “Final Dread Dust”. Cody gets several uses of a dust spray attack that he can use as a VT cancel, which allows Cody to make any of his attacks safe or combo an opponent into Critical Art.
  • Critical Art: Dread Ender. Cody surges forward, swinging a pipe several times. If he hits, he goes into an animation where he smacks the opponent around a bit before sending them flying with a baseball swing.

With Zeku running around, I don’t think there’s any point in bringing back Guy as his own character. NPC Guy is Young Zeku without the ability to change stances.

Mike Haggar

While adding Haggar as a Zangief alt would be the easiest way to add him, I think there’s another way. Despite how the gameplay would be similar, Haggar’s animations differ greatly from the Red Cyclone’s. The best way to preserve that would be using his MvC3/MvCI animations, with quality being less of an issue as he wouldn’t be a regular character. With the properties on some of his moves toned down, he would feel ok as a one-off character. Failing that, Haggar would probably use several of Alex’s moves in addition to Zangief’s, particularly for his normals.

You all know the drill at this point. Got bored. The underwhelming MvCi Black Widow trailer got me thinking about Capcom’s Black Widow.

Reasons to be in SFV:

Black Widow believes she is the best fighter in the world. She enters the tournament for specific reasons. To prove her dominance to the world and the promote the CWA. The CWA’s popularity has begun to wane a bit. Black Widow wants spark the interest in wrestling by thoroughly embarrassing the best fighters that other combat sports have to offer.

I think i know CAPCOM when it comes to stuff like this.

If they’re going to go with your idea and bring back Guy and Haggar for a Special ff based Dramatic Battle…TRUST ME,they’re going to reuse the assets they already have and tweak them for some type of variety.Its hella easier than creating a new fighter from the ground up and they can charge people to have them available as special alts.

Ok so for my next fighter i have no idea if it translates properly but hey at least they sound cool!

In combat he wears a modified gas mask to prevent further injury to his face and protect him from chemical based weapons.

Tone: Sakura is a cheerful extrovert that has an extreme focus on improving her fighting ability.

Origins: Sakura was in the audience when Ryu defeated Sagat. She was enamored with Ryu. To see the much smaller fighter fell the Emperor of Muay Thai inspired her. Sakura wanted to know everything about this fighter. Who was Ryu? Where did he train? Would teach her how to fight as well? Kei through Sakura’s interest would fade with time, but didn’t. She watched as many of Ryu’s fights as possible. Intensely studying his movements and copying them to the best of her ability. She began testing herself against schoolyard bullies. When they no longer provide a challenge, she began cutting class to participate in underground fights. It’s only because of Kei constantly covering for her, that she didn’t end up flunking out of school. After finally meeting Ryu, she truly learned how far she had to go. It was just a sparring match, but Sakura could barely even lay finger on Ryu. She asked him to be her teacher but he declined to her disappointment. Sakura resolved to improve. Finding a rival, Karin Kanzuki, to help her push herself to her limits. It’s been several years, Sakura has had several encounters with Ryu. Although she’s gotten better, she’s still no match for him.

Reasons to be in SFV:

While sparring with Karin, Sakura hears about the fight with Shadaloo. She regrets not coming along on the adventure. Sakura can’t believe Karin got to fight along side Ryu against M.Bison and his “Four Kings”. Sakura is especially intrigued by the new level of power Ryu has achieved. “A Ryu that has overcome the Satsui No Hado?” she mutters. “I have to see this for myself.” [/details]

I think one of her V-Triggers should be an actual custom combo mechanic, as it fit so well in A3/CvS2 thanks to her multi-hitting attacks. Also, I’d consider the CvS2 version of her Hadoken, which was a stationary projectile hitbox that hit multiple times directly in front of her.

As a nod to the Alex/Axl comparison, Axl is almost a straight reskin of Alex. Slash was a palette swap of Axl in Final Fight, so they would probably have the same moves here too. Axl may be able to take the grabs and leaping attack, while Slash utilizes Flash Chop and Slash Elbow (lol).

Ah, these two! I think we’re likely to see one of them in SFV at some point, given how well Poison was received in SF4. The question is, who? Poison has an established character that is tied to Hugo, but if Capcom wants to emphasize Mad Gear then Roxy is probably the better option, as she is still involved and even appears in Abigail’s story. I’ve done Poison concepts before elsewhere, so today I’m going to cover Roxy!

So, who is Roxy, and how does she fight? She’d have a lot in common with Poison, but there’s an important difference to note between the two: While Poison styles herself as some kind of dominatrix/wrestler, Roxy is a punk straight to the core. The bat might be an interesting way to flesh her out too: Perhaps she has a passing interest in softball? It would be a good way to kill time between jobs, and help explain her proficiency with the implement beyond smashing things for fun. So, with the idea of a baseball-swinging biker girl in mind, we can design a move list from the ground up.

  • Normals/Crush Counters: Roxy’s normals are all regular punches and kicks, as they’re generally faster and more efficient than drawing a bat in scramble situations. Think a combination of Mika/Laura’s punches with Poison’s kicks.
  • V-Skill: Up To Bat. Roxy swings her bat, which can deflect projectiles if the hitbox makes contact. It can be charged into a wall bounce attack, and has an interaction with her “Pitcher” special.
  • Specials:
    • Pitcher: Roxy tosses a ball (possibly a rock or something as a rare chance) either straight ahead or in an arc. All versions of this move cancel into V-Skill, and give the ball significantly more momentum and damage on a hit. Generally you can just do the regular swing instantly to power up any version, but the HP arc is almost entirely vertical, allowing Roxy to charge up a power swing and hit on the way down.
    • Home Run: Roxy goes into a sprint, which can cancel into a slide, falling overhead (similar to Poison’s flip kick in SF4), or her V-Skill.
    • Go Down Swinging: Roxy has a version of Poison’s rekka special with her bat
    • Hail Mary: Roxy performs a kick that hits … in a place between the legs. This causes the opponent to crumple, which Roxy follows up with by knocking them away with the bat. The EX version outright stuns the opponent.
  • V-Reversal: Backflip. Roxy does the iconic backflip that Poison had in SF4.
  • V-Trigger 1: The Gang’s All Here! Roxy whistles for her friends Axl and J to help her out. For the duration of this 3 bar VT, Roxy can call Axl and J as assists with HP+HK inputs. Roxy gets about 3 calls per VT, and her helpers can be interrupted on start up if they are hit. The helpers come out when the buttons are pressed, so they cannot be delayed like Nadeshiko. The assists are as follows:
    • HP+HK: Axl jumps from the top of the screen onto the opponent. This attack knocks down without potential for a combo. It resembles Alex’s stomp special.
    • f.HP+HK: Axl runs onscreen from behind Roxy and advances with an elbow strike. Resembles Alex’s Slash Elbow.
    • b.HP+HK: J appears beside Roxy and performs a series of straight jabs.
    • d.HP+HK: J slides feet-first across the screen starting from behind Roxy, hitting opponents low into a knockdown.
  • V-Trigger 2: Giant Swing. Roxy thrusts her bat forward and begins to spin in a Lariat-esque motion, slowly moving forward. If the buttons are simply pressed, Roxy does a few hits and recovers with her VT intact. If the buttons are held, Roxy will perform more hits and launch the opponent into the air. Pressing the buttons after the screen freeze starts the move again at the cost of 25% of the timer,and holding the buttons from the initial attack or future Giant Swings costs an additional 25% of the timer.
  • Critical Art: Metro City Mayhem. Roxy strikes the opponent’s midsection with her bat, entering a cinematic on hit. If successful, Roxy, Axl, and J proceed to gang up on the opponent for a series of attacks, ending with Roxy launching the opponent fullscreen with her bat.

Token fat men? Obviously, they’d borrow heavily from Birdie (especially the headbutt), but I can see bits of Zangief thrown in for good measure.

I didn’t want to do a custom combo V-Trigger. I may want to do Yun/Yang concepts. With two V-Triggers being a thing now, I didn’t want to make that task more difficult. Two V-Triggers are a real pain the ass. I changed move properties with Sakura in an attempt to balance both V-Triggers. It’s not just coming up with the properties of the two triggers, but balancing them around the characters move set.

For example, originally the Dai Kōzui Hadoken critical art did 335 damage and caused a wall bounce. That conflicted with her V-Trigger 1. She’d be able to do a high damage combo into Sakura Fubuki, use the juggle state to combo into the Dai Kōzui Hadoken, and then use the wall bounce to get addition damage. Granted the damage after the wall bounce would be heavily scaled but you’d be looking an easy 600 plus damage combo. Plus with the V-Trigger being Two bars, you’d likely have access to another V-Trigger. That would give Sakura essentially a second 250 damage launcher. It was too strong. I locked it behind V-Trigger 2 but that gave her an install V-Trigger that upped her damage potential and a wall bounce CA. So ultimately nerfed the damage, took away the wall bounce, and made it her standard CA. Sure you can still V-Trigger 1 into CA but it’s only 400 plus damage in comparison with no wall bounce to add to that amount.

Although these a hypothetical characters that will never be in Street Fighter V, I try to adhere to some semblance of balance. I remember when I played Mugen back in the day. It seemed everyone’s characters were OP. It didn’t really find that fun and my foray in Mugen was short lived because of it. I don’t have the grasp of the game that high level players do, but I still try to be somewhat reasonable with my character tool sets.

This whole two V-Trigger thing…I’m thinking back on my Rhonwen concept right now. I don’t even know what type of V-Trigger 2 I’d give him. He’s whole design was built around his V-Trigger merging his two styles into one. I guess I could give him another install V-Trigger that enhances the properties of both of his styles specials and the player could still style switch…damn I just solved the issue right now. Go figure :lol:

Credited with kidnapping Jessica Haggar in the original Final Fight, Damnd is a solid fighter who prefers to fight at an advantage when possible. This often takes the form of having a number of Mad Gear thugs backing him up. He’s also supposedly pretty well connected, with moles in the Metro City Police Department and FBI. Damnd would be fought on the City In Chaos stage, as it is the closest thing to a “American Slums” stage in SFV. The obvious thing would be implementing Dramatic Battle and having his battle occur alongside some Mad Gear thug. If that isn’t feasible, he should be able to call in Mad Gear members as assists, General move set is a combination of Balrog and Birdie. Leading up to Damnd, you will fight several J, Bred, and Axl type minions described previously, with Damnd being the first “Dramatic Battle” fight.

The original weaboo makes his return! Sodom has a storied history within the Street Fighter franchise, first appearing in Street Fighter Alpha alongside his rival and American ninja, Guy. Sodom specializes in the use of traditional Japanese weapons such as jitte and katanas as a supplement to his wrestling background. The combination of strength and blades make Sodom a formidable opponent for much of the Street Fighter cast. He would be fought on a modified Ring Of Victory with Japanese decorations and Mad Gear members in the background. Leading up to Sodom, you fight several Dramatic Battles on King’s Cross versus the thugs from Damnd’s stage plus Andores and Poison/Roxy, then a Dramatic Battle on Sodom’s stage versus 2 Andores before fighting Sodom. In SFV, Sodom wields his jitte by default.

  • Crush Counters: Sodom’s st.HK and f.HP knock the opponent back on CC, like Ryu’s st.HP or Guile’s b.HP. st.HP, a downward stab with his jitte, staggers opponents on CC for a combo. Finally, cr.HP is your token AA CC (see Ryu, Guile, Balrog cr.HP) and cr.HK is a slide that creates a hard knockdown on CC.
  • V-Skill: Tsunami Rush. Sodom performs an armored tackle, like a hybrid of Birdie’s f.HP and Urien’s Chariot Tackle. This move doesn’t go very far by default, but can be charged by holding the buttons. If Sodom completes the additional startup, he gains more range and armor on the tackle.
  • Specials
    • Jigoku Scrape (qcf.P): Sodom lunges forward as he slashes at the opponent with his jitte. Increasing button strength increases the startup, range, and damage. The HP version is an overhead, and the EX does multiple hits.
    • Butsumetsu Buster (hcb.P): Sodom performs a throw attack in which he grabs the opponent, jumps into the air, and slams them headfirst into the ground. The LP version is the fastest and works like a traditional command grab. Stronger versions of this move have Sodom do a small hop forward before attacking, increasing his start up, range, and damage.
    • Daikyou Burning (hcb.K): Sodom thrusts out his jitte and rushes forward. If this attack hits, Sodom grabs his opponent and pushes them along the ground, creating flame effects and damaging the opponent. Stronger versions increase the startup, range, and damage of the attack.
    • Shiraha Catch (srk.K): Sodom’s counter, retooled for SFV. Sodom attempts to grab an opponent’s limb. The LP version catches lows, MP catches highs, and HP catches overheads. The EX version has invincible startup and has different strengths for LP+MP (lows), LP+HP (highs), and MP+HP (overheads). If the opponent triggers this counter, Sodom grabs the opponent and tosses them away.
    • Tengu Walking (qcf.K, air OK, while rising OK). Sodom flips back, lands on his jitte, and walks forward on them, hitting the opponent with each “step”. The LK version is a “fake”, the MK version travels about 1/3 of the screen, and the HK version about 2/3 of the screen. When done in the air, Sodom lands jitte-first (the jitte have a hitbox as he’s falling) and performs the attack as soon as he lands without the flip animation. Doing this while rising from a knockdown throws off his wakeup timing, potentially whiff-punishing meaties.
  • V-Reversal: Unagi Slip. Sodom slides along the ground. This attack is a low that knocks down and can avoid many high attacks, but is punishable on block.
  • V-Trigger 1: Katana Dual. Sodom draws his katanas, seen in Final Fight and SFA3 X-ism. For the rest of the round, his jitte are replaced with katanas, and all of Sodom’s blade/punch attacks deal 15% more damage, have larger hitboxes, and certain moves gaining properties such as additional hits or hit/blockstun.
  • V-Trigger 2: Blade Flurry. Sodom repeatedly stabs the area in front of him with his jitte, similar to E.Honda’s Hundred Hand Slap. The attack can be held to use additional VT for more hits, or finished to leave more timer left for a second Blade Flurry. This attack cancels into any of Sodom’s other specials, acting as both combo filler and a lockdown tool for resets/mixups.
  • Critical Art: Shin Meido No Mage. Sodom performs several slash attacks with his weapon, the power increasing with each strike. The final two hits have Sodom launch the opponent in the air, jump after them, and knock them to the ground with a final weapon strike.

The infamous “corrupt cop” of Metro City, and Cody’s designated parole officer. He’d basically have Birdie’s normals with a unique gun special. He would be fought on the High Roller Casino stage, evocative of his original stage in Final Fight. You get more Dramatic Battles in the fights before Edi.E, and the AI starts to ramp up a bit.

Rolento

Everyone’s (least) favorite militant! I don’t see Rolento happening as a character in SFV due to his lukewarm reception in SFxT and SF4, but he’d be fine as a NPC boss since Capcom already has his animations. Just give him a quick model like the Shadowloo troopers got with his old moves, and we can reminisce about the days of this nutjob dropping grenades on us while we took an elevator. Rolento would be fought on a heavily modified version of the ASF elevator stage. This stage also marks the arrival of El Gado and Holly Wood as enemies, with a final Dramatic Battle in the Shadowloo Corridor before Rolento featuring both of them.

Abigail

The Belger fight will be a bit different from the previous ones. After fighting waves of enemies in Bay Area, the first Belger fight has him running around in his wheelchair, crashing into the player and firing crossbow bolts. Belger has full armor during this stance and cannot be thrown, ala the MvC bosses starting with MvC1. This takes place on a recreation of Belger’s FF1 stage, and ends with him being knocked out of the window (again).

Sagat’s lower calves and ankles are also wrapped in white tape. However only a small part of each foot arch is taped leaving him essentially barefoot.

Tone: Sagat is honorable and humble warrior with a violent past. He regrets that his former star pupil, Adon, has seemingly adopted the brash, violent personality of his youth.

Origins: Sagat is the former world martial arts champion and reigning “Emperor of Muay Thai”. Hot headed and brash as a youth, Sagat let his temper get the best of him in a fight with Go Hibiki. Go accidentally injured Sagat’s eye and the young champion lost his cool. Killing the fighter in front of his wife and young son. That incident changed him. While still confident, that incident with Go Hibiki was always at the back of his mind. It wasn’t until is surprising defeat against young fighter named Ryu did Sagat’s temper reappear.

Scarred by Ryu’s Shoryuken. Sagat fell in with the underground criminal organization known as Shadaloo. He didn’t care for Bison’s goals. He only cared that Bison sought Ryu and allying with him would give him his best chance at seeking revenge. Sagat would use his newly developed technique, the Tiger Uppercut, to leave his mark on Ryu and regain his world championship.

It wasn’t until a chance encounter with Go Hibiki’s son Dan did Sagat see the foolishness of vengeance. Seeing how the desire for revenge twisted Dan, he let Dan win their fight. He also left Shadaloo. Sagat still sought out a rematch with Ryu, but only to see how much both he and Ryu have improved. The two have developed a friendly rivalry. After a long sabbatical in the jungles of Thailand, Sagat wishes to test his newly refined techniques against the best the world has to offer.

Sagat missed the previous tournament while he was taking a time away to train in his village in Thailand. He was surprised to learn that Bison and Shadaloo had finally fell. He was also disappointed that no one represented Muay Thai in the tournament. Sagat aims to show the world the power of Muay Thai and hopes to cross paths with Ryu once gain while doing so. You’re right. Maybe it will be closer than my Sakura. I got her V-Skill partiality right. They actually gave her multiple follow ups including the dive kick I made a special. My second v-trigger resembles both of her actual v-triggers. Now I get to see how Cody and Sagat play out.

LOL!! Yeahhhh SFs got enough blondes as it is. The inputs idea came from MK. I wanted to create a grappler with some easily executable command grabs. Doesn’t get easier than spamming FF.

This has been pretty much down for a few days now. Existing character. I’m not sure I’m satisfied with the results. V-Triggers were a pain in the ass to balance.

Unique Attacks:

Lights Out – B+HP: Lucia hits her foe with a spinning back elbow to the face

Breath Taker – B+MK: Lucia strikes with a swift high left knee strike. 5F Startup, -4 on Block.

Split Decision – F+HK: (Overhead) Lucia hops into the air and performs a full split wheel kick. Slow start up, -2 on block. Has a hit box both in front and behind her. The rear hit box does not hit overhead.

Double Knee Drop- D+MK: (In Air) : Lucia performs a double knee drop from mid air

S.C.U. Combination – LK, MK, HK, B+HP (Target Combo): Lucia’s standard Final Fight 3 combo. Lucia strikes with mid, low, high side kick combination followed by a spinning back elbow.

V-Reversal:

Due Process -F+KKK: Lucia grabs her opponent, spins behind them, and knees them in the back. Causing them to crumple to the ground.

V-Skill:

Flame Aura – MP+MK: Lucia stands on one leg as she summons a fiery aura. If the animation completes uninterrupted, Lucia gains frame 3 projectile invincibility on her next special attack and a small amount of V-Gauge. Blocked and landed enhanced specials also build V-Gauge.

V-Trigger 1:

Conflagration – HP+HK: Lucia’s lower legs become engulfed in flames. Altering the properties of all of her kick attacks. All of her kick specials set her opponents on fire.

V-Trigger 2:

Blazing Aura – HP+HK: Lucia stomps the ground igniting a large fiery aura around her. All of her special attacks gain Frame 1 projectile invincibility. Startup and Recovery of Forward and Back Dash is decreased by 1F. Flame Aura becomes Blazing Shield, when timed properly, it will now reflect projectiles back at her opponent. Blazing Shield drains V-Gauge 1/3 of the V-Gauge immediately upon use. All other special moves, with the exception of Hot Pursuit, will drain the V-Gauge after 3 uses. 2-bar V-Trigger

Spin Stampede – QCB+P: Lucia rushes her foe with a three hit combination attack. She strikes with an elbow, followed by roundhouse kick to the head, and knocks her foe down with a roundhouse kick to the chest. LP (Point Blank, Fastest Startup,), MP(¼ Screen, Slower Startup), HP( ½ Screen, Slowest Startup) EX (Gains Armor On Frame 3, Fastest Startup, LP+MP Point Blank, LP+HP ¼ Screen, MP+HP ½ Screen, Causes Wall Bounce)

Hot Pursuit -QCF+P: Lucia closes the distance by quickly running at her opponent. Run can be canceled into any normal attack. Projectile invulnerable from Frame 3. LP (¼ Screen), MK(½ Screen), HK( ¾ Screen) EX (2/3 Screen, Projectile Invincible Frame 1)

Rising Whirlwind – F,D,DF+K (Anti Air): Lucia strikes with a rising knee into a spinning kick attack. Kick button determines the damage and start up speed. LK(4F Startup, Throw Invincible) MK (5F Startup, Invincible to Airborne Attacks), HK (7F Startup, Strike/Projectile Invincible from frame 3), EX (4F Startup, Full Startup Invincibility)

Windmill Kick – QCF +K: Lucia attacks her opponent with a forward moving vertically spinning kick attack. Attack patch has a slight arc. Kick button determines the attacks properties. Throw Invincible Frame 3. Burning Heel – QCB +K: Lucia executes a jump spinning back kick that sets her opponent a blaze. Attack goes over low attacks. Can be performed mid air from a forward jump. Kick button determines attack properties. Nullifies projectiles when properly timed. LK(Fastest Startup, Leaves Foes Standing), MK(Slower Start Up, Knocks Down, Juggles in Corner), HK(Slowest Startup, Causes Juggle State), EX (Fastest Startup, Causes Juggle State, Gains Armor Frame 3)
