Origins: ** Asim comes from a wealthy Tunisian family. Growing up he saw how others struggled and frankly didn’t care. He had everything he could ever need. That thought process changed one day. Asim’s family was accosted by a single robber. A man who managed to pummel his family’s security force with ease. All of his family’s wealth meant nothing in the face of one man’s strength. They were at the mercy of one of the poor souls that he’d spent his young life looking down on. The man left with his family’s valuables and when his parents turned to look for Asim. He was gone. His posh life style had made him weak. At the age of 12, Asim took off on his own. He would never been weak again. He’d forge himself into a man of strength and live off of what he earned for himself.

After a decade, a know grown Asim would appear at his family’s door. His mother barely recognized him. The small frail child from the decade prior was gone. In his place stood formidable man. Asim only arrived to see his ailing father. Telling him that he did not want his inheritance. Asim would leave as mysteriously as he arrived. As his mother watched him leave, she could see him get into a limousine with two towering figures. A tall dark skinned woman with short red hair and tall white haired man with a jewel in his forehead.

Asim enters the tournament with a singular purpose. To discreetly neutralize, Gill’s lieutenants. The loss of Wasswa and Kolin would greatly hamper Gill’s efforts and strengthen Urien’s position in the Secret Society. Gill’s “softer” leadership style would be replaced by Urien’s. Leading to a world in which people would have to rely on their own strength. The strong would rise and the weak would tossed by the wayside.[/details]

Can any of you pros do a concept for Effie?

I don’t make any promises. I have to be inspired to come up with things. @DarthEnder asked for a Krav Maga and Pencak Silat user. I wasn’t able to get those down for him for well over six months after he asked. I could force myself to come up with something but I don’t like doing that. Although pretty much no one cares about these things, I do. Everyone knows my feelings on Ingrid but that was one of the concepts I worked hardest on because I care about the quality of my concepts. If I catch typos, even if it’s months after the initial post. I’ll go back and fix them.

@Savagery My latest concept won’t be releasing this weekend. I don’t have a solid concept for a the V-Skill and V-Trigger. I’m also still hashing out the Unique Attacks, Critical Arts, and character appearance. You’ll be happy to know that I’ve already done win quotes for the entire SFV cast. None for my original characters though.

Theory time: NPCs and the characters who they are based off of (figured this was better than the other threads)

As you already know, one of the coolest things about ASF was that we got NPC characters to fight, which made the story feel a little more natural than “mow down a dozen goons off screen, fight Balrog” from previous games. I think there’s a ton of potential for this, as it saves Capcom money in reused animations and lower-quality models. With Extra Battle on the horizon, we could potentially see a lot more NPC characters. This is just some speculation as to what Capcom could do, and what characters might need to be added before they can do it.

The stockier guy (TUSK) has an attack called “Dokugiri Funsha”, which roughly translates to “Poison Fog Spray” after a bit of Google-Fu. Obviously, that can be something like a poison version of Dhalsim’s Yoga Blast. The other dude (TAIL) has a move I can’t really get translated, but rest assured it will be poisonous!

@Savagery I lied. Not on purpose. I managed to finish my Dominican character concept. She’s basically a karate fighter. Her color scheme is the based on the Dominan flag. Even managed to work in a small hint of yellow and green from the small coat of arms from the flag’s center.

**Tone: ** Effie is a shy woman of few words. She has a deep appreciation of fresh air and open spaces.

Origins: Effie’s origins are shrouded in secret for the most part. She was abducted from her home in Belarus as child. She was subject to constant experimentation at the hands of the Secret Society’s science teams. Effie would have lost her sanity if it weren’t for Ilyia’s comforting words and songs. The experiments seem to stunted her growth. Ilyia and Effie were confused by their purpose. Over time, Illyia had gained the ability to generate electric shocks and stretch his limbs like rubber. He’d often stretch his hand through the bars to hold Effies hand when she was at her lowest. However, Effie seemed unchanged at first. She began to notice that despite her diminutive size, she was surprisingly heavy. Also her strength had grown considerably. They hadn’t stunted her growth. The Secret Society had greatly increased her strength and bone density. This was the reason for her sprightly size. Slowly they began to pit Illyia and Effie against the other test subjects. The rules were simple. You win or you die. Illyia and Effie were being turned into reluctant gladiators. Eventually only Illyia and Effie remained. The winner would be G-Project’s ultimate weapon. It was then that Illyia and Effie decided to escape. They’ve been running ever since.

@Savagery Creativity is a curious thing. I have no idea how my imagination works. I just have to put my ideas down as they flow. Honestly I’d been planning on playing a few hours of ranked. I still need 19 wins to hit my target on PS4 and I need 92 on PC. I got home from work yesterday and decided to do an outline for Effie…didn’t think I’d actually finish. No concepts today. I need to get some gaming in.

Not a new concept, but I did go back and tweak Effie. I was worried about her V-Trigger being OP and I feel that I underpowered her EX Specials to compensate. I’ve rectified that. Her standard EX specials have been buffed. Each of her EX specials gains a new property in V-Trigger at the expense of heavy meter depletion. I also fixed a few typos that I noticed.

Ok cool good way to balance those Specials Darc. V-TRIGGER doesn’t seem too bad but i didn’t see it before you made the changes.

@Savagery her original V-Trigger was under powered. While it was two bar, it only enhanced her normal specials. To compound the issue, her EX specials didn’t have any bonus attributes. So I buffed both and made the V-Trigger 3 bars to balance, along with prevented EX Specials from being abusable by limiting them to two per V-Trigger. Side note: I see that you gave Kruger “Going Somewhere Mr. Sellers” as his V-Reversal Also is it my imagination or is he thirsty for Mika? :wink: Anyway two new concepts. Jessica is using the tournament as means to flush out whatever remnant of Mad Gear is responsible for Cody’s situation. She knows that putting herself at risk would cause her father and Cody to come to aid her. She’s hoping that this will get the mastermind behind Cody’s incarceration to reveal himself so that she can take them down. As a bonus she has chance to settle the score between her an Roxy. A draw may not be a loss, but it isn’t a satisfying outcome either.

-Jessica’s move set combines elements of Haggar’s wrestling, Bushinryu, and Cody’s street fighting.

@“Darc Requiem” Ah ok cool i got you. EX moves definitely need those xtra attributes to make them special. Solid Haggar and Jessie build.

KRUGER’s a professional but you got to admit,it would be prettttty hard to concentrate on the fight with a woman like Mika around lol.

I like the idea of combining the original trio’s skill set. I would have never suspected Jessica though,nice touch.
Personally,i think the SPECIAL MOVES are the hardest things to come up with since that’s what really makes a fighter unique.

Special moves are the biggest pain in the ass, along with V-Skills and V-Triggers. It’s why it’s much easier for me to create concepts for existing characters. The bulk of the work is already done. Even with someone like Jessica, I spent the better part of two days hashing out her move set. Mike Haggar has been done for a day and a half, but I wanted to release him along side Jessica. I wanted to make the lame “Two Haggars, One Post” joke that i dropped in the story thread :lol:

I don’t know how you do it so fast but i have a problem sticking to one concept. Usually while hashing out one i’d come up with something that would be cool for another fighter,so my attention gets spread thin. I have like 4 other fighters with backstories and bios completed but those darn SPECIAL MOVES…

Before I created this thread. I posted all of my concepts in the Story thread. Usually my imagination would get sparked by a discussion we were having there. So sometimes, if a character I’m thinking of was part of a recent discussion I’ll post the concept there too. With all the SFV “Leaks” going on, I got the idea for Haggar from “The Mayor” leak.

I can come up with some concepts quickly. I think the fastest I’ve ever done a whole concept is about 4 hours. Usually, depending the research I have to do, it takes me 1 to 2 days. However there are some concepts that ultimately took me several years. My Rhonwen Van Zandt concept is one in which I came up with his backstory, look, and art I wanted to use years ago, when I used to post at Capcom Unity. I didn’t actually develop his moveset until last year. Jessica was similar in a way. I had the idea to make her concept for while. I’ve just never knew what type of fighter I’d make her. I got the idea to make her a hodgepodge of Cody, Guy, and Haggar while I was typing out Haggar’s concept.

When you have multiple ideas at once, here is what you should do. Just put down the ideas you have for the character. You don’t have to finish a concept all at once. I do it a all the time. My mind never works the same on these things. Sometimes a characters name and look will come to me. Sometimes I’ll come up with the art and move set first. I just put down whatever part of the idea comes to mind and return to it later. This is for fun after all. Don’t stress yourself out.

Origins:** Ximena was enamored with martial arts action films as a child. She’d run around her house or out in her yard acting out the scenes from her favorite films. Seeing her excitement, her parents enrolled her in the local karate school. The used it as motivation to for education. As long as she did well in school, she got to take karate. Ximena was proficient both at her art and her studies. She became Junior Pan-American Karate Champion. With her combination looks and skill, Ximena became a minor celebrity. She was able to spar with other martial artists of different disciplines. It was then that she discovered that some of her arts techniques flawed or in some cases plain ineffective. Her master was a staunch traditionalist. He wouldn’t hear any of Ximena’s suggestions. It was then that Ximena decided to take the funds she earned from her celebrity to travel the world. She would visit various schools, train with their masters, and develop a form of Karate for the modern age.

Reasons to be in SFV:
Ximena wants to test herself and her art against the best martial arts practitioners in the world… She believes her training and alterations to her masters teachings has lead to a more effective version of Karate. The only way to prove that is in fights against the best opposition the world has to offer.

She sounds like fun i really like those quotes. She has attitude and a decent move set I would definitely play her. Kinda biased since i’m from the Caribbean but yeah good stuff!

THIS IS FINAL FIGHT!

With Mad Gear coming back up thanks to Abigail (and possibly Sodom!), and the addition of an Arcade mode, AND Final Fight’s upcoming 30th anniversary in a few years, the time is ripe for Final Fight to make its grand return to the world of Capcom. This would be emphasized with a “Final Fight” Arcade path, featuring all of the NPCs on stages evocative of the original Final Fight. If Dramatic Battle is back, it should totally be used for non-bosses past the first few fights to simulate having more opponents on screen like a beat-em-up. This mode is playable with the entire SFV cast, letting you comb the streets of Metro City with Ryu, Chun-Li, and Zangief just as you would with classics Cody, Guy, and Haggar. An alternative “classic” path lets you use mockups of the original 3 protagonists, as Guy/Haggar are unlikely to be in the game. I’m going to treat Cody, Sodom, and Poison/Roxy as full-fledged characters, since I consider them very likely to be in the game as playable at some point. In the posts following this, I will cover the 3 protagonists of FF1, all the enemies, and all the bosses.
