I think with all the bad press and criticism as of late concerning the Castlevania franchise, it is time to go back to its roots. I’m talking 80s roots, and build up from that. New super mario bros sold like crazy. I think before Castlevania goes off in a brand new direction again, it has to show what made the franchise so great in the first place. Re establish itself.
If you mean an HDR of castlevania 1,2,and 3 you would never have seen a faster sale then then my purchase.
I would buy extra copies to chop up and shoot into my scrote.
Castlevania Tier list:
S+: Rondo of Blood.
S: Castlevania 3, Bloodlines, Castlevania 1, Castlevania 2: Belmont’s Revenge (Gameboy).
A+: Symphony of the Night, Castlevania The Adventure Rebirth (Wii).
A: Aria of Sorrow, Circle of the Moon.
B+: Harmony of Dissonance, Super Castlevania 4.
C+: Castlevania Dracula X, the rest of the Gameboy Castlevanias, DS Castlevania games.
C: Harmony of Despair.
D: Castlevania 2.
D-: Haunted Castle, MSX Castlevania (Vampire Killer).
F: All of the 3D games.
Fuck Lords of Shadow God of Vania bullshit.
That’s all I want- Hi-Res 2D twitch platforming, difficulty that makes you learn how to play the game to its fullest, Belmonts whipping the shit out of Dracula and his minions, all set to a Michiru Yamane composed soundtrack.
Give me one of those, and Konami can go back to the generic orchestra, melodramatic, wanna-be 3D action wank fests they’ve been churning out lately.
Rondo of Blood is trash. The SNES Dracula X is actually mechanically far superior.
Your list is ultimately why whenever Castlevania fanboys get all antsy, I roll my eyes.
Yes it is.
I liked the giant timeline though.
IGA has expressed interest to work on Metroid.
Plz no.
Iga will just make Samus a teenage boy reincarnated, takes his ship to an eclipse (because we all know eclipses are objects and not events…) and destroys the next Mother Brain, who isn’t really Mother Brain because the teenage boy who is Samus reincarnated is really Mother Brain incarnated because Samus was Mother Brain all along!!
The beings that came into existence with the destruction of false mother brain (SA-X) will rise believing themselves to be the true successor of Mother Brain and will try to kill Samus to obtain what they feel is their birthright.
Iga Metroid or another Other M.
Ugh. I think I’d rather go with Iga.
God damn it.
Yeah, Rondo is overrated as fuck.
I still like it, but the animu aspects and cutscenes were silly, and all the game really added to the series was Item Crash.
Rondo had a bunch of cool shit in it. Fleamen sliding down stair rails? Lots of awesome shit like that. It was little touches like that which made it nice. However, the game design felt all over the place and wasn’t well focused. The way the level themes progressed was a little weird. I think the best game in the series for level design was Dracula’s Curse. The map made sense and so did the level progression. It was a really well designed game. SuperCv was also well done in that regard, and X68k was short, concise, and amazing. Rondo was a cool and flashy game, but didn’t have that focused aspect going for it. Rondo is also extremely dated, dated looking graphic direction, dated looking character design, and dated music. Yeah, it’s all 90’s baby, and kind of feels weird trying it out later. Most of the other games prior didn’t have any of that dated feeling to it. Like, dated as in technologically dated, but not dated by design, which I feel Rondo is.
I too, do not understand the overwhelming love for it. Maybe it’s because for such a long time, it was a hidden gem we never got a western release for. Maybe if we did get a release for it, it wouldn’t have been such a big deal.
Come to think of it, I’m surprised Rondo was never ported to PSX. I mean, there was no reason for it, and Symphony made Castlevania healthy again, you’d think they’d have brought Rondo over. PSX could have easily done it.
This list is shit.
Harmony of Dissonance(shittiest Metroidvania) over ALL other Gameboy CV’s/Metroidvania’s?
For shame, Louiscipher. For shame.
Castlevania 2 is pure ass, by the way. I’d take the MSX CV(or PS1 remake) and Haunted Castle or any of the 3D CV’s(well, maybe not Curse of Darkness, I think it’s one of the worst games in the series next to CV2/the really slow, vanilla Gameboy CV’s) over CV2.
It’s sad to see how hard you try to be one of the SRK cool kids.
Dissonance was a good game, and so was Simon’s Quest. Vampire Killer was also a great game.
Ninja Theory Castlevania reboot
Go, go,go…
At the very least Team Ninja will give us a female Belmont as a lead again.
regarding los2
In an interview with Eurogamer Spain, Enric Álvarez, the game’s director complained that the Edge review was “terribly unfair”, and that “one must be blind or stupid to give a 4/10 mark to a game with this quality”. Álvarez believed that the game’s poorer critical response compared to the original Lords of Shadow was due to the heightened expectations of a sequel. Still, on the whole, Álvarez said of the reception, “I tend to think positive after reading some things. I’m glad that some people are writing about games instead of making them.”
