My 2nd favorite weapon in the game is that item that makes you have infinite items, combined with IRON BALL.
It’s freaking hilarious having Alucard throw out bigass metal balls.
Iron Fist is a sweet weapon also.
Before I found out about Crissagrim and all those other powerful thrown weapons, my main weapons were Star Flail with Chakram
There are a ton of broken items in that game. One of the ones people tend to gloss over is the Mourneblade. That’s a sweet-ass sword because it’s strong and gives you HP back with each hit. Another is the Yasutsuna, which is actually stronger than Masamune. And, of course, there’s the Vorpal Blade, which is Crissaegrim Lite.
I doubt it. Using that setup is the equivalent of pressing the “win” button. Once you get this combo, getting anything else is just for the sake of having a complete inventory.
Oh yeah… I remember getting the duplicator just so i could spam my Items for free. Just took me forever to get enough gold. There really should have been a third castle just so all of these enemy crushing combos wouldnt seem so unfulfilling.
shield rod + dark shield = perma invincible frames + full screen damage.
Alucard summons these wavy skulls that rise out of the background and everything on screen basicly dies. Its actually better for bosses than the crissagram. It kills Draculas last form in 4-5 hits. Criss sure is fun though.
I just power watched alot of CV games on YouTube (Lament and Curse specifically). I just don’t feel like drudging through those two again.
I actually hope Castlevania '99 is the one going next-gen. The DS games are lovely, but I think with some alot of luck, and dedicated development time, a next-gen CV with awesome graphics would rock. Konami should take notes from other Action/Adventure games of late. Get a better cam system going, better gameplay, etc.
Take the Metal Gear Solid approach for the story part.
You ain’t neva lied. Only 3D game I know of that I would get lost in, and with a damn map. It’s like “Oh… did I just? Um… hmmmm turns back around to face bad ass enemy Well shit… I should have turned left.”
Curse was better in that respect. They still didn’t take enough risks. They should have just made it a 3D platformer first and a combat game second. It tried to be Devil May Cry and just ended up making the Devil cry for real. Although Curse’s combat is way better and so is everything else compared to Lament.
I just want Castlevania 99 to be that Castlevania where the whole world is affected. It’s one thing to say the world is in danger and another to actually show people screaming while trying to flee from demons and other bizzare creatures of the night. Plus it needs to be explained how zombie soldiers end up in Aria of Sorrow. My guess is that the world’s governments sent some troops to attack Castlevania but were obviously unsuccessful.
I actually liked both those games, too. I wish they made a 2D Castlevania with Lament’s combo system (who needs to level up when you can do big combos?).
