Back then, “mental retardation” had only just begun to be phased out in favour of “intellectual disability”, so this is not surprising.
Language standards were different back then, back in the days when Sanford and Son used the n-word with the hard R.
Actually back then Retarded was the Politically correct term to replace terms such as moron, imbecile, feeble-minded.
It was not until 2010 before a law was passed where the US Government can’t use the term Retarded to describe someone with developmental disabilities.
This is why I consider Mark Hamill one of the Gods of voice acting…I marked out.

He played Trickster in the old show and new show.
For me that clip fulfilled two DCAU wishes…
- A segment with just Mark Hamill voicing different characters.
- The Joker and the Trickster in a segment together.
I’d like to see joker and trickster have more interaction while both of them mess up each other’s plans because they can’t get along.
I been wondering why the Joker is working with Trickster instead of killing him. Joker never liked anybody stealing his gimmick and Trickster is dangerously close to doing that.
