$10 Entry Fee
Double Elimination
2 out of 3 games per match
3 out of 5 games per semi final match
4 out of 7 games grand finals

Community standard tournament rules and format shall be used
Fei Long game-freeze glitch is banned, everything else is fair game. lol.
Local ranking-battle point leaders will be given top seed
Out-of-town players will also be seeded as a courtesy

$1000 Entry Fee (MUST BE PAID BEFORE THE CALGARY CUP TOURNAMENT BEGINS, AT 2:00PM)
5 vs 5 Team Battle
a-cho Single Elimination Format
Best 2/3 rounds, 2/3 matches, per set
Players will be locked into their character choice throughout the event
No Duplicate Characters on a team (meaning, only 1 Ryu per team, 1 Balrog per team, etc)

Lapchi and Hai will determine who will represent Calgary in this challenge, it has not yet been decided. Edmonton has accepted this challenge, but has also not yet decided on who will make up their team. We also ask that the team members please remember to bring identification to verify that you are indeed a resident.

The format above may change if the teams can both agree on an alternative format.

AWARDS AND DISTRIBUTION
Pot distribution will be 70/20/10 for all tournament games

However, the winner of the Calgary Cup will not only win the 1st Place portion of the pot (and a neat trophy), but will also go home with a PS3!

For the Calgary vs Edmonton $1000 Challenge, the losing team must pay the other a thousand dollars.

This is a 100% “not-for-profit” event. Revenue gained via admissions fees and refreshments sales will be put back into the funding of the event. If by some miracle we actually MAKE money on this, the surplus will be added to the tournament winnings and given back to the players.

If you can contribute an item to this event, you will be doing the whole community a favour! The more items we receive through charity, the less we have to spend on rentals, which equals more Admission Fees surplus that can be given back to the players!

If it is single elim 2/3 rounds this $1000 money match will last 10-15 mins. We don’t play 4/7 either but that seems to be the best way because sometimes it is just luck that you win.

Dude I don’t care how long it lasts, this is supposed to be a competition and your undermining the integrity of the whole thing. Everyone talked mess about the gamestop 4/7 round finals. If I pay 200 and win the first 2 rounds then end up losing to that player I would be pissed off, were here to play high pressure street fighter, this is how 5 on 5s work. Changing the format cuz u want it to last longer is rediculous.
If it’s 4/7 I’m not participating, that formats a joke

I dont see what the big problem is with 4/7. The better player wins if it’s 1 round or if it’s 20 rounds. Upping the rounds just minimizes fluke wins.

You are wrong. A tournament has over 10 participants. If we had the time and energy I would personally prefer 4 of 7 matches like Hockey but because of logistics we adapt to adjust to the circumstances.

Lap Chi’s post is correct as the tournament and the team matches work under different circumstances. I think the reasoning behind Lap Chi’s suggestion is that we are very much interested in determining which city is best and from my understanding the widest your sample or data the more accurate your results will be.

Shiro, you are a tournament organizer and you Greg hosted you at his house as a guest and you have hosted him as well. Perhaps you should treat him with a little more integrity since you understand how difficult it is to please everyone. The decision Greg is making are being discussed with many people.
