#1 - Team Tourney should take priority. This should be first. It will be possible for a singles…but yeah…Numbers and time
#2 - IN MY OPINION Team should be relatively balanced. If those people were put on the same team why would anyone else show. Wouldn’t it be better if the Top Players acted as CAPTAINS to their Team? The other Alternative would be by “friends/region” so that you would at least be playing with people you know.
#3 - The method we use should be based on Number of Teams. 4-6 Team Pools of 3 Top Two Advance. 8-9 Teams Two Pools of 4/Three Pools of three. Anything more and we’d need Doube elimination. I believe we do IRON MAN, meaning One match loss and you’re out.
- The alternative is FT5 Each player plays Once nobody more than Three times. This makes sure that one Team member doesn’t dominate the entire other Team, and we wont have One guy doing all the work.
Again. Top SIX players should not be on the same Team. Who in their right mind would allow the Top 6 players to form 2 teams and the rest to fend for themselves?!?! It will be MUCH MORE interesting when the Top players are captains.

the idea of a captain basically says the other two players don’t matter, and the team boils down to the higher ranked players vs each other. I’m not totally against it, but given the choice I’d like to team up with anyone i want.
single elim is definitely a no for me. double elim teams should take too long…
You play tournaments to win. Punishing players for being good makes no sense. If you have that many players who refuse to play because they don’t think they can win, that’s the problem of the player, not those who have worked hard to make their game better. I don’t see how it’s interesting to see a “captain” basically carry two mid tier or lower players through a tournament after they inevitably blow it and have to be saved. You also have to realize that you had 56 players enter the last tournament, of which only 5 - 8 had any real chance of winning it all. It didn’t dissuade everyone else from joining.

I don’t see how we’re punishing anyone. and Single is different from Teams. People join singles to see how they’d rank, I doubt any of them really expect to win. But teams, why would you choose to join when clearly you see you have a crappy team.
In the end I’m down for whatever runs most smoothly.
I like FT5 Rules, becuase this way, its impossible for one guy to Carry the Team. 3v3 Iron Man format, its almost a Gaurantee the 1st and 2nd place teams relied on one person. Trust me I’ve seen it many times before.
However this will affect our Time constraints.
But really…either by region, or Captain seems most fair. If we allow Top players to Team up then Pot should be 50/25/15/10
I don’t join a tournament to “see how I’d rank.” I join tournaments to win it. Why would you enter a tournament without having your eye on the prize? If you don’t know where you rank, you should be playing online as much as possible against as many people as possible. That’s the whole point.
FT5 kills the who point of saving time with a team tourney.
You’re going to have a really difficult time convincing anyone to split a pot 4 ways, especially considering you’re only likely to get 12 - 16 teams.
We’ve been running team tournies in the GTASF for years now. Third Strike basically sets the bar. SBO rules, 3v3, Iron Man format. They’re quick, they’re fun, and tons of people join because they want to play with their friends, who to the surprise of no one are just as skilled as they are.
Well first thing is we need to do sign-ups and see what the rough number of Attendees we have.
Second, (regardless of Time constraints) FT5 Everyone plays once no one more than 3 times creates way more strategy and requires TEAM EFFORT to pull off the win. Whereas Me Nagata, Jay Wang…J-Dub will “obviously” pull out the win for us, where we won’t even have to win a single match. That doesn’t seem fair.
As for how the Pot is Split it would be more like 55/25/15/5, 4th Team getting their money back if there are enough entrants. This isn’t something up for debate, it will be decided upon by the organizers.
In the end, everyone should just get their Team ready.
That pot split is fucking stupid. 4th should never be getting money.

Let people team with whoever they want, thats how life is… and how every tournament has always been ran. You don’t see the Williams sister banned from teaming in team tennis tournaments, why do it here?
While you’re not really “punishing” people for being good, you’re putting extra weight on them for no reason asides from because they’re good, not to mention people who are good are usually friends because people improve with each other. So you’re breaking friendships and turning them into rivalry!!! =(
FT5 doesnt really stop someone from carrying, it just prolongs the tournament. In the end, when each player has played once, say the other 2 loses, you still have that 1 player carrying the team. The team is still gonna end up choosing the best player to play the other matches right? They’re not gonna be like “Player B, this is our last match, i think you MIGHT win against him so give it a try” instead of choosing Player A who WILL win.
If people choose not to join because they cant win, then let them not join. thats practically saying “I dont want to play against X because i cant win, why waste money?”. People that think like that should go back home and just play with friends and kill time, not join tournaments. Im a bit harsh on this because this happens in GG way too much lol. Not for the weak minded.
and 4th place definitely shouldnt be getting money. 70/20/10 is how it always has been, again ur punishing good players =P. And a high pot should be a target for lesser skilled players to get that pot the next tourney they join.

edit: is it just me or is this tournament turning more and more in brawl style tournies. no items, fox only, final destination. i see the irony at the tourny name.
I’ve never seen ANY SF tourney being run with this “first to 5” rule. It’s always been Ironman/SBO.
Also I’ve never seen any team tourney have regulations on who they can team with. Also with team tourneys is that since the top players can only play once, anything can happen. That’s what makes them fun.
Right now it’s Team BOX - Me (Rufus or Sagat)/Gerjay (Dhalsim or Viper)/CQ (Balrog)
