The Boxing Thread

If it makes you feel better, I’ve been waiting for my Bogu for like 3 weeks. Shit is killing me LOL

It only two days from Tokyo to Houston. It took a while to ship because I ordered during the Christmas break and also I couldn’t pick them up on New Year’s.

I need stronger legs though and better flexibility. I worked the heavy bag for two hours yesterday and came back home with a massssiiive back pump. To strengthen my legs I did 10x5 squats today… It was a bit challenging walking around, driving back home stuff.

I’m gonna lvl-up a little here and there and see where it takes me.

*The Wilder vs Szpilka match just started. I’m rooting for the underdog Szpilka. *

*Great timing from Wilder on the KO. He needed it because he was down on points in the bout. Szpilka was outboxing him and doing really good work up until that point. *

BOMBZQUAAAAAD

DEONTAY THE TRUTH I NEVER DOUBTED

HOLY SHIT DID YOU HEAR THAT PUNCH JESUS CHRIST

lmao, he is LUCKY that guy was singing and dancing and bomber didn’t know what the fuck was going on

Just watched the fight in full before i fell asleep

Spilka started off strong but was losing on points by the time the KO came IMO

*I had the fight going like this:

1-3 for Szpilka, 4-6 for Wilder, 7-8 for Szpilka. Rounds 4 and 7 were the closest rounds to score and I can see anyone giving Wilder round 7, but I think Szpilka outworked him that round. *

Is there a reason why these boxers box with their hands down and not protecting their face? I guess Wilder can do it, but unless you’re Mayweather, you should not try emulate him.

I’m seeing that in my gym too, wtf I don’t get it. Huurr

Spilka never landed anything that changed wilders game. He scored points early while wilder was finding out the range but really he didnt land any big significant clean shots. Once wilder sniped him with the right i thought it was over, that he was gonna win by easy decision. Deontay fought beautifully IMO

BOMBZQUAAAAAD

*Short answer is because bodyshots hurt like a bitch.

Long answer - it can be for a multitude of reasons. Once someone is fatigued their guard lowers. Getting hit to the body a lot forces someone to lower their guard and open themselves up to shots upstairs. A person might purposely lower their guard on purpose to set up counter punches like a pull counter. They also might lower it to lull their opponent into attacking them thinking there’s an opening when in reality there isn’t one because of spacing.

I’m sure I’m forgetting some more but those are some of the basic reasons. *

You can dumbly will urself thru headshots but bodyshots take ur wind away and turn ur legs slow af

*I agree somewhat, once Wilder found his range during the backend of round 4 the fight changed. Szpilka came out the next few rounds not throwing as much while Wilder established a little bit of the jab and was starting to land rights. Szpilka never landed any devastating flush shots but he did bother Wilder whose balance looked compromised at times. Wilder fought more conservative but that was due to Szpilkas style and I found Szpilka to be the more active fighter.

They both threw around the same amount of punches and landed at similar percentages. All the judges at ringside had Wilder up by 1-2 rounds. The Skysports guys all had Szpilka up by 1-2 rounds. It was a close fight. *

Spilka also had the good idea of going for the body but he didnt do it enough to be effective IMO

i liked his head movement in the early rounds too

*I peeped that. He had good body work which coincidentally made Wilder lower his guard around round 5-6 but when he went to capitalize on it Wilder caught him with his right hand. Which made Szpilka not stick to attacking the body, which is a shame. If that was the case and the fight kept went on I think Szpilka had good enough conditioning to outpoint Wilder as Wilder slowed down in the later rounds.

Szpilka had impressive head movement, hand speed and footwork. I liked how he broke up his rhythm by changing levels and giving different angles at times throughout the fight. *

To invite the opponent in and throw punches from different angles. I can understand why fighters do it but they should really be light on their toes, move their head, and not charge inwards. It’s harder to see punches coming from a low guard, as they come from outside the line of sight, so it can be effective if you’re forcing your opponent to come into range.

Wilber’s the real deal. He’s the new Mike Tyson. Wilder will surpass Mayweather Junior’s record!!!

I’m not trying to go home all retarded and stuff so at least for me I keep my guard tight.
