Eh, granted Mayweather fights are boring as shit, dude is a masterful boxer. I think people’s hate for him overshadows how good of a boxer he is. Any coach would love to have a boxer like Floyd. I mean he is the epitome of text book/technical boxing. So in regards to his boxing skills, he is a great boxer.
No. People hate him because he fucked boxing up. Everybody loves an undefeated fighter, we loved Chaves and other undefeated boxers. Actual pre-2k boxing fans who relied on tv, tapes, and ppv for boxing and not youtube knows that the way Mayweather fights and wins has never been done for free in boxing. Why the hell would anybody like a man who makes his fights above 50+ dollars and just runs through out the entire fight? Why would people like a man who has a fan base that is so retarded that whenever you mention “boxing” they automatically think that you want people punching/brutalizing each other?
Just read MiracleArrow’s replies towards me on the whole Mayweather issue, he clearly stated why he isnt a top 10 fighter.
No need, I think I understand boxing just find, I appreciate his style and I think he is a great fighter. No one said he was top 10… but neither is Pac or De La Hoya or any other schill he embarrassed over the years. You may talk to the wrong boxing fans, I tend to stay away from ones who generally DKSAB.
And please stop with the “free for boxing” crap, no one fights for free anymore, its the nature of the sport… Blame the shit promoters for that, not Mayweather (although one of those managers is trying to change that). Just reread what you said…I have no idea what for free in boxing means in your context.
And I really hate the idea of 10 ten list or whatever in boxing… Its foolish because everyone has their own priorities on how certain fighters are ranked and being honest, someone who values the golden age would laugh at the types of put people outside that era on any top 10 list. Rank boxers in their era, in their relative weight class ( I think the sport has way to many weight classes right now) and let be that… Now lets talk about how overrated Joe Frazier is
I never said “free for boxing” or even the word “free”. I appreciate his style but his record is complete bullshit. I don’t he embarrassed DLH at all. At least Pac and DLH actually went into the ring and tried to give the boxing world an actual boxing match.
he didn’t embarrass DLH but he made Pac looked dumb. and the PAC/DLH was crap… the weight drained slumped DLH was dead on arrival.
Bruh, the words are free in boxing is right there in your quote, I have no idea what it was in reference to so I asked for clarification. However the quote I made about how the sport is ran still stands, even though it isn’t directed at you, a lot of people like to blame the poor state of the sport on De La Hoya… Like these promoters haven’t been killing the sport since the Don gave them the blue print.
He ran the entire fight… from corner to corner, clinching to clinching… boxers where never trained to just play a full on chase game like that. Any boxer would look dumb because it’s dumb as fuck for that shit to be allowed when it never has been.
cmon man, I get it you don’t like mayweather… but here are the numbers for the Pac/May fight Punches thrown; May=435 Pac=429, Punches landed May= 148 Pac= 81… For the life of me I can’t figure out how a boxer who ran ALL FIGHT threw more and landed more punches then the opponent
I’ll do this all day, I’m no mayweather fan but to say he isn’t a real boxer… or a good boxer or any other garbage that being spewed is pure non sense man. If you didn’t train for a defensive fighter you are an idiot…
And double post to separate from the Mayweather talk…
I think all top 10 list are dumb… there is so much more imo of what makes a great boxer then can be quantified by win loss/ who beat who… for instance I have Jack Johnson as a top 10 fighter Yet I would be the first to admit the klits twins would kill him in a match… and I have neither of them in any top 10 list ( well top 10 heavyweights of the past 20 years one is in there). Someone like Joe Frazier beat Ali, but he wouldn’t sniff any top 10 list I ever created… I don’t just food for thought, list are fine and fun but they hold zero weight to me.
I was indifferent to mayweather when he was rising (I was an oscar fan) then i liked mayweather then i hated him and after he beat canelo I just…I dont really care anymore. floyd has done some historic things in the ring as far as titles and title defenses and fighting title holders, you cant deny that just because of the way he fought. I’m not really a fan of the diva aspect to boxing he started that I see young boxers doing now. I would love to see boxing return to mandatory fights, but as long as money is involved its hard to do and boxing is a fucking unorganized mess.
anyways, floyd will get the props he deserves in memory, maybe more than he will truly deserve because time makes ordinary feats seem great. i dont have hate for him anymore but i dont have any desire to see him return to boxing tbh
I honestly think Canelo was throw to early to Mayweather… DLH was so thirsty for someone to beat Floyd he just couldn’t contain himself. But you fight on Floyds time, not the other way around which is understandable… He bout to make you rich, you better pick up that phone when it rings.
Never emotional. Sticks to the gameplan. Defense is just so good. Footwork? The best. Handspeed and angles? Top notch.
He also cuts great promos.
It’s mayweather’s job to sell a fight, but really he is in there to win. He is not in there to entertain the fans.
He will clinch, and it’s up to the ref to deduct points. And with shitty, paid off, sketchy boxing referees ruining the sport. He gets away with rabbit punches, stalling, clinching for 50 minutes without throwing much.
That’s on the refs, not on mayweather.
Mayweather knows he can get away with it, on top of his hands, and defense he is unbeatable.
Until somebody comes around. Talks shit. Calls him fraud mayweather. Egging him into a money fight at a higher weight class. In somewhere like europe.
Where they have their own comissions.
Eventually Floyd will need the money, to pay his ever mounting debt and the child support he owes multiple women.
Floyd will be back because he will need the money.
Another scrap with pacquiao or canello?
Maybe he goes up in weight to fight golovkin?
We will read about floyd coming back, and if he loses he can blame his age, the venue, and retire.
No way is berto his last match. And no way will floyd not want another pay day.
The pacquiao fight and the circumstances ruined him and pacquiao as draws
Call me a hater but golovkin needs to shut the fuck up. Yeah your knockouts are cool and impressive but lets not trip. Going after smaller guys like floyd/canelo/cotto is weaksauce (and the only person i think he can beat in that group is cotto tbh, and maybe not even) and everyone knows youre just doing it for the payday. Also i didnt forget you were accused of removing stuffing from your gloves. Fight ward first
Cotto, Canelo and GGG are all middleweights(Maybe not naturally but thats what they’re fighting at!) Canelo’s last two fights were at 155(middleweight). Also the Cotto vs Canelo fight is at middleweight.
So I get what you’re saying as far as natural weights and all the bs associated with Boxing belts but they’re all fighting and playing the game at middleweight so i think its fair game. Plus if he’s getting dodged that hard of course he’s gonna get frustrated.
Also with Ward, he is naturally way bigger than GGG so I mean its the opposite arguement. But you see Triple G moving into Super Middle and fucking Andre Ward has fought as heavy as Light Heavy… That said it would be a great fight/test but I dont think its in Genaddy’s best interest when he’s the middleweight champ and wants to fight other middleweights. Especially because you are right, GGG is looking for his payday and unless you’re a boxing fan the Ward fight isn’t the kind of payday he’s looking for regardless of what anyone says lol… In regards to the payday… he deserves it at this point and people want to see it.
As far as Ward goes… there is always Kovalev muwhahahah

Floyd Mayweather Jr. stated Monday he’s willing to help Ronda Rousey with her boxing after she suffered her first career MMA loss in shocking fashion against Holly Holm on Saturday.
Ben Thompson of Fight Hype passed along comments from the undefeated, five-division world champion boxer about the shocking result. He praised the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, but he offered his services to improve her all-around skill set: “I want Ronda Rousey to hold her head up high and don’t let this discourage you. If you need help as far as with boxing, I’m here to help you. It’s all about timing and inches. Her ground game is unbelievable. She’ll be okay.”
It’s interesting to see Mayweather be so supportive of Rousey. The two combat superstars have exchanged verbal jabs in the past, but the boxer believes those issues were overblown and told Fight Hype he’s “proud” of her.
The 28-year-old UFC sensation certainly looked out of her element against Holm. She failed to take control of the bout inside the first 30 seconds, as she has done so often in the past, and that opened the door for the challenger to pull off the stunning upset early in the second round.
Rousey will definitely need to improve her boxing ability, particularly defensively, before a potential rematch with Holm. While it’s unlikely she would reach out to Mayweather based on their history of back-and-forth comments, he seemed ready to leave that in the past to help her improve.
She’s also talked about possibly trying to become a boxing champion in the future. Few people would be able to help her make that transition better than Money. He’s 49-0 for a reason, and after stating he was retiring after beating Andre Berto, he seemingly has plenty of time on his hands.
As unlikely a pairing as Rousey and Mayweather would be, it could make her more dominant than ever if she took him up on his offer.[/details]
