Yup. If Warner signs with Blu-ray, this format war can very well be over by the end of next year. If it goes HD-DVD, then we all get fucked.

I didn’t realize that there was a Blu-ray only thread. That is great, thanks Epp1e you are the man taking the time to make a thread and giving us all these great deals on different items. I took advantage of the Blu-ray B1G1 of Christmas Vacation and Christmas Story. There wasn’t any difference between the HD-DVD version and Blu-ray so it was a good deal to get both for $20.
Which I wonder, think anyone would be interested if I made a HD-DVD thread? I know Adam Warlock has a A-2 and with these player become cheaper for mainstream consumers I am pretty sure there will be a demand for HD-DVD info. I am pretty sure a lot of those HD-DVD players sold at Walmart will be Christmas gifts and will see a surge in HD-DVD sales in the upcoming months.
Another HD-DVD deal (this time 12 free HD-DVDs with a 299 dollar player) + Bourne coming out on Tuesday = BOGOBOGOBOGOBOGOBOGOBOGOBOGOBOGO!
In the long run, it would fuck you up too, since it would prolong the format war and ensure that both HDM formats get crushed by standard DVD and VOD. You are in a slightly better position than the rest of us, though.
EDIT: So my BOGO from last week’s Warner sale came in: TMNT and Training Day. I’ve just realized that half the BDs I own are demo material. It’s kind of nice.
Also, I just rented Ocean’s 13 from Blockbuster (Superbad was out). I hope it’s as good as people say it is.
EDIT 2: Okay, so I just bought Last Samurai and Phantom of the Opera via Amazon. I love/hate BOGOs.
Damn, the closest Blockbuster to me that rents out Blu-ray is a 30 minute drive.
Anywho, here’s something nice to know. For those of you who don’t know, Amazon refunds the price difference if they change the price of any item you bought within 30 days (under the condition that you ask in your order history). I got The Departed / Blood Diamond before the Warner BOGO sale and decided to take a crack at asking if they could refund me the price of one of the Blu-ray movies. Long story short, I’m getting 20 dollars added to my credit card.

This Blu-ray player is going for 300 dollars at Best Buy & Circuit City with 2 free movies (+5 from mail-in rebate). With the 10% off coupons both CC & BB are offering, it’d be 269.99. I guess this is nice for people who want DTS-HD MA on their Blu-ray player, but I hope this isn’t their answer to the current HD-DVD player deal. I want me some more BOGOs!

So if you guys remember, I got in on an order at BestBuy.com for Lost Season 3 on Blu-ray for 34.99 … Just got an e-mail saying they’re canceling my order cause it was a price mistake. I expected this, but it was still disappointing. Anyway, they gave me a 10 dollar gift certificate to make up for it. I might get in on their BOGO and use that gift certificate now.
