The Blu-ray Thread v1.0

LOL So did I.

I guess it’s true what they say: like father, like improper withdrawal method mistake.

So skip the DVD and go Blu-ray.

Fuck DVD.

i’m buying 15 movies between the next 2 weeks of releases

too much stuff coming out now at once

I hear No Country For Old Men is a really good movie, and I’m thinking of getting it on Blu-Ray. I watched the trailer on PSN…seems interesting. Nice weapon.

Thoughts?

man, I read through that whole thread on highdefdigest in re: to the whole shifting aspect thing, people hating on random shit.

King9999, ncfom and There Will Be Blood are great pickups!

The movie is one of my favorite films of all time. It’s one of those philosophical crime-thrillers, that really forces you to pay attention. I’m not sure what other movies to compare it to, but if it sounds like you like that type of film, No Country is as good as it gets.

The Blu-Ray picture quality is top-tier. It’s among the best for live-action PQ, with Blu-Ray’s like Rambo, Pirates, I Am Legend, etc…

Audio is pretty average, partly because there’s not a lot scenes with loud/detailed audio that really push your sound system. Dialogue is very clear, though.

Probably among one of my top 5 favorite Blu-Ray’s. In my opinion, it’s a must own.

As for TWBB, excellent movie, but the Blu-Ray transfer is just alright.

Yeah, don’t know why people are hating on it. I think it’s kinda weird, but I’ll have to see it before I judge.

Amazon Buy 2, Get 1 Free (Ends July 27)

Not the usual Sony titles… over 100 titles… but still not many good ones :B
Looks like a lot of FOX / Paramount stuff.

prettty sad that of those only 4 i don’t have

and 2 are becaus ei have them on hd dvd and one is bc its dragon ball z

what a waste

I’m lazy. Are there any standout titles?

Top Gun comes out on Blu-ray next week.

Save money by shitting on a DVD instead. HATE HATE HATE! I never liked that movie.

:frowning: August is a week month for BD releases.

I just bought Mad Men Season One. I’ve never seen the show before, and just bought it because it was cheap ($25). Just saw the first episode. Seems like a pretty cool show.

The picture quality is perfect. It’s not quite reference quality but almost there.

Season 2 airs tomorrow night, but I think I’ll refrain from watching it until S2 comes out next year.

Did anyone get Top Gun?

Yes. 15% of sales were from truck stops with men’s restrooms and an alarming 85% of sales came from San Francisco.

Just got Tekkon Kinkreet from amazon for $15 used. I’m excited because I had been waiting for it to drop in price, even if used. woot.

After a shitty August, September is gonna be huge (and expensive).

Definite pickups for me:

-Transformers
-Kill Bill: Volume 1 & 2
-Madagascar
-Pirates Trilogy (yeah, I still don’t have them and literally haven’t seen any)
-Mongol
-Speed Racer
-Shrek the Third
-Godfather Trilogy (Restored!! Probably my most anticipated BD ever.)
-Iron Man
-The Sixth Sense
