The Blu-ray Thread v1.0

Oh yeah. I totally forgot about that feature. I was reading about it too.

i usually watch 95% of my movies on my 1080p24 projector that does 120hz which automaticlaly turned that motion enhancer off

i recently bought a 60 inch DLP for cheap and i had the same problem as you. I was like this looks like shit but yea it was cause that setting was on by default

it only looks good for fast moving sports like football and animation like bok said

never tried it for video games

niiiice. 1080p24 projector is fuckin sexy. It’s like having a film projector in your own house. I think when I have enough money and a house with a big enough room for a full-fledge home theatre, I’m gonna go the projector route.

I have a Samsung 120Hz LCD TV myself. The problem with the motion enhancer on basically all LCD TV’s is that none of the manufacturers can get the technology to work correctly. With the Auto-Motion Plus feature turned on, fast moving objects tend to leave trails or a shadows of itself. For example, if a football moves quickly down the field, even if the camera follows it, it looks like three footballs. It happens in some video games too. Very annoying.

Does that happen on your projector at all?

Anyway, I love the look and feel of movies in 24fps with the 5:5 pulldown. Not everyone prefers it to 60fps, and I don’t know if it’s worth the few-hundred dollar premium for a TV that has this feature, but it looks more natural and appropriate for live-action movies.

I posted about it in the PS3 thread, but there’s a new firmware update coming out next Wednesday that will significantly update the Blu-ray playback on the PS3.

On a related note, I just watched Enchanted on BluRay (with my Wife, I swear!). That’s the first BD I’ve seen that has shown the title of the movie and a picture of it in the XMB before I’ve loaded it. I haven’t seen that many though…

The movie was pretty good though. I enjoyed it… on the BR, there’s a feature that tests your Disney knowledge while pointing out references to the classic Disney movies. My wife loves it. Its a very well put together BD.

The Planet Earth BBC series is $49.95 at amazon.

What? COPPED!

Copped one as well…

A few movies do that, most of which are SPHE’s own movies, like the Spider-Man movies and Tekkonkinkreet.

Anyway, I just watched No Country last night, and I have to say that I really liked it until it just abruptly ended. That stupid-ass ending ruined the movie for me, and I ended up not liking it so much anymore after thinking about it.

Damnit…I was under the impression that Sweeney Todd was coming to Blu-Ray, but I come to find out that it’s a farce.

Dunno know if I’ll wait for a possible Blu-Ray release, or I’ll just buy the reg. DVD…

Paramount’s trying to get their shit together and it probably won’t happen until summer… but hooray for summer, we’ll have a shitload of new Blu-rays to watch. Same deal with Universal.

Maybe I haven’t been keeping up but I thought all the companies went to BD already. What seems to be the issue?

Supposedly they still need some time to gear up production lines.

Here’s a link to a thread that will teach you how to best configure your PS3 and/or TV settings for BD playback: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=45003

Also, Batman Begins is now up for pre-order on Amazon.

I’m going to watch it nonstop on HDDVD until it comes out.

Question for those of you who sort your collections alphabetically: How do you handle titles that start with “The”? Do you just ignore it and go by the next word in the title? Or do you put it with the “T” stuff?

I ignore the “The”.
