The Bison Thread

Whatever you’re doing in training I’m afraid you’re doing it incorrectly as PC definitely does cross up.

The animation is different from SF though as the opponent always gets hit towards the direction that the PC was going even if it crosses up.

The tail end of PC has to hit your opponent for it to cross up. Best way to do it is on a downed opponent, do a PC just before they wakeup, the tail end of your PC should hit them unless they know how to block. If the frontend of PC hits, I think there’s no chance for you to get a cross up with it at all.

It’s a good move but because of the new wakeup options, it loses a bit of its effectiveness. If you know your opponent is going for a roll, Devil’s Reverse is a better option IMO

Hell Attack seems really good vs tatsu happy Kens.

Dictatorship flames reignited. Bison / Law at the moment. Hella good synergy.

how many people are using auto tech/ auto block/ auto [S]win[/S] gems now? I’m afraid to go on.

BTW not sfxt but this is the greatest Zangitroll ever:

edit: wow wont let me just post a link… go to 7:59

I used it to learn mix ups I wasn’t familiar with.

Right now I run two meter gems and one damage gem per character.

Bison has +10% damage on being tagged in via Launcher
Law has +20% damage upon using Super Art

This is an old post but I wanted to answer it because nobody ever talks about this.

Bison’s Cross Arts as an anti-air is AMAZING.

A lot of characters can effectively use their Cross Arts as an anti-air, but Bison’s in particular is quite good because the Psycho Banish basically covers a huge vertical hitbox, and he doesn’t really move forward too so you’re at less risk of having them end up jumping over you instead. It CAN of course be made to whiff by things like shoto air tatsus, Cammy cannon strike, Raven air fireball, etc etc. Basically you have to be careful against any character that can change their trajectory in the air.

Against anyone else it’s basically perfect anti-air if you react early enough to the jump. I think this is a very important trick for Bison players to keep in their back pocket, because lacking any sort of perfect reliable anti-air means that people are going to just jump on you a lot. Condition them into thinking that they can jump at you relatively free, and then right when you’ve got full meter and they jump at you for the umpteenth time because they’re tired of being poked at with s. MK… you swat them down to the ground with authority.

I highly recommend everyone try it as an anti-air just to see how awesome it is.

PAINT. THE. FENCE.

if only he could use paint the fence as a move, instead of waste 3 bars for it :stuck_out_tongue:

anywho, was there REALLY a need to nerf Bison and his Super? People were having trouble blocking it? Were they upset that Bison technically had a high/low mixup?

This game is lulz

You guys see the update? I might renew live again! Even though I use Juri, they nerfed her dive kick which was like a free get-in when fighting opposing Juri’s (even offline) and made her less scrubby. Bison didn’t get anything (but I think he’s fine, as time goes on he will get better and better…) but other characters are starting to get nerfed. This will help Dictator, look at Rufus! No more Derp Kick. I wonder what:

“Jump/lever input bug Addresed issue where diagonal inputs/jumps did not come out properly.”

this is? If it’s what I think, I’m going to be so happy because I get that a lot…

what update?

lol bison didn’t get anything haha

I tried Lord BBH’s suggestion to use the cross art as an anti air, it’s quite effective. You just have to save quite a bit of meter so you end up doing less EX PC escapes. But once you have meter, just wait for a bit and your opponent will certainly jump. Or walk to your opponents ideal distance for them to jump in (not cross up) and they will usually go for it, knowing you don’t technically have an antiair. Free damage!

good sign they are tweaking things and they fixed the jumping glitch. I went online the other day and no1 was using auto-derp gems including on ranked. Impressive.

Yeah it’s not something you should be looking to do every game obviously. Like you said, you want to have meter for EX PC / alpha counters when necessary, and in general it’s important to be doing lots of tag cancel combos whenever possible to get back red life, any combo ending in PC usually still allows the character that tags in to do some decent damage afterwards, since the low number of hits doesn’t wreck the damage scaling completely…

But, if you notice your opponent jumping in on you constantly in the first round, you can sort of make an effort to save some meter for the second or third round and let the cross arts rip when you see a jump. It’s a bit of a gamble to plan around landing it, but being able to destroy all their red life just because they jumped at you is always nice.

Before I gave up on ranked in protest of these fucking retarded new gems, I always made it a point to try to win matches with an anti-air cross arts against anyone I was dominating, lmao. Gotta get that retarded achievement for 300 cross arts finishes!!!

Does anyone know if the follow up to devils reverse or the skulldive followup to headstomp are safe on block? I main vega but am running bison on a secondary team, and at least for vega I know that if you tag cancel the claw attack from flying barcelona then it’s safe, which can be useful when you need to tag and have a bit of space. On a similar note is tag cancelling in off a block psycho crusher safe? I’ll hit the lab to check in the next few days, but was wondering if anyone else had any idea.

i downloaded special color pack 2 and it still wont let me use it. what am i doing wrong?

Bug. Same for me.

Hello Bison users. I wasn’t quite successful at getting this setup to crossup in both scenarios, but it looks like I was coming really close when I used HP crusher (I didn’t have a lot of time to work with, sorry) and I’m almost certain that if someone can get it done, one of you may be able to do it. It’s basically a crossup psycho crusher that can auto correct against roll.

I did try to punish it with Bison’s s.lk after blocking it, and while it could still get punished, it wasn’t the easiest punish. You can just replace the crusher with other things like headstomp and devil reverse, but I want to see if someone can get the crusher to crossup in both situations before I get some more lab time in.

Try LP or MP yet?

lp and mp crushers were too slow when I tried looking for similar setups. EX-PC was also too slow to crossup, but it was close, so it’s possible the timing is just really strict.

 I applied for a job at Capcom yesterday. My mission is to give Bison his ST Crusher back. I may be able to trade my dental and vision for a DLC update that lets him paint some picket fences without using those three blue paint cans at the bottom. I’ll get back to you guys on that one.
