LOL @ Amnesia and White Day not being scary, I realize horror is a subjective reaction to visual/aural stimuli but, a gamer who doesn’t find either the least bit scary is one who doesn’t truly appreciate the fundamental principles of the genre, nor how both games at least partially translated those elements to the gaming medium.
Did anyone else watch the 3 videos on OP? Great choice of games, but equally shitty placement of them. I hate it when people group a series of work together in lists, it’s laily dismissive. Also LOL @ Slender being #3. I’ve played most of those 80 games and am a huge horror game fanatic, but have never touched a Silent Hill game for some odd reason. This thread serves as a reminder I need to get on that.
Anyways I don’t have a definitive answer to the thread question because my answer could change depending on how I feel, but right now I guess Alone in the Dark is what I’ll go with. It holds up very well today.
