The BERKELEY EUDEMONIA Legacy (relocating to the SFSU Dojo thread!)

Missile the dog is godlike: best animal sidekick ever.

Yeah it seems I took all your wires >.< Sorry about that.
I think the wires are in my brother’s car, so we could meet up to return them after he gets back, which is usually around 5:30 or so.

Finally downloading Dark Awake right now!

I unfortunately won’t be able to make it this Saturday but will still be able to Friday, visiting Bitkid off in Grass Valley! We can still have our Friday session though and I’ll get in lots of games with all of you then!

I’m a few clicks away from purchasing Arcana Heart 3; can we setup a mutual JPN account so we can have DLC on yours and my PS3?

(when I bring my copy of the game, we play on your PS3… I’ll chip in for JPN cards, of course)

Is it possible?

(like, can I get Dark Awake too?)

OH MY GOD, this tutorial manga for Arcana Heart is amazing:

Tutorial - Arcana Heart 3 Wiki

READ IT NAO!

The “Homing” system (which is mapped to light kick) sounds AMAZING.

If it works the same as US PSN account(i think it does), it should be possible. I could pass you the info for my japanese PSN account next time we meet.

Nice.

ANYWAY, still reading through the Arcana Heart Wiki and everything seems coherent enough…

Apparently, choosing one of the 23 Arcana [Pokemon] will have various effects on your character and your opponent’s character (such as changing around health and whatever).

Overall, I seem to be kinda digging the stuff I’m reading… but, yes, when at meets, we will need access to the Wiki since there’s a lot of shit in the game.

Dark Awake is awesome. From what I played, the fighting system is nothing too different from other games in terms of attacks. It has this item system kind of like arcana hearts probably, but not as complicated it seems.

You get like all sorts of power ups based on old western rpgs, like health potions, power rings, death spears, etc. Assists are sort of useful, haven’t really seen how to utilize them properly. You need meter to use an assists and supers, but items replenish every round.

There are some interesting characters but I haven’t experimented with all of them. Like the skeleton rider which cant jump, a dwarf behind a cannon, and others. The animation is really nice for a game like this, you can actually see your character crouch.

Yeah, I told you it’s amazing, I’m glad the gameplay lives up to how awesome it looks!

Are you guys headed into SF this weekend or are you playing at Eudemonia?

I recently got into Tekken 6 and would be willing to bring it along if there’s a spare PS3 (or I can bring mine and 2 sticks if necessary, while I’m at it I could bring my copies of Rival Schools, Bushido Blade 1 and 2, and Pocket Fighter…) if there’s interest. I’ve been told by more serious Tekken players going online is a waste of my time and I’m interested in getting better with King.

Also would there be room for some Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure action? XD I don’t have sticks for my Dreamcast, but I have a TV and a Dreamcast I can bring (along with MvC1 and 2).

But if you guys are going to SF this is all moot… (^o^);;;

Yeah, we are going to SFSU; you could try riding with us if transportation is a problem.

THAT SAID, have you checked out the “Testing out the waters” thread yet?

They have stuff going on near Fruitvale Bart.

EDIT:

LOLI HEART 3 has shipped! GET HYPE!

HYYYYYYYYYYYPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEE!!!

I want to give Dark Awake a shot!

Arcanu Heartu Three…I have to get back to you on that trying that one…

Are you available for Friday sessions? Chrisis has started hosting TGIF sessions at his place where we play Marvel and watch Family Matters.

Yes, Thank god-tier it’s Friday! We play all kinds of games so if you particularly like any of those feel free to bring them and they’ll have some time in the console for everyone to appreciate!

I however will promptly die in Tekken as although the game is awesome I’m terrible at it and don’t have a solid grasp of its fundamental spacing game that leads into bound combos. :frowning:

The game, despite it’s loli-tastic appearance actually looks really good…

Or, at least, the Japanese make it look really good:

But, yes… I will be in theory fighter tonight and in the lab tomorrow…

I sure hope my copy gets here when it says it should get here, since I really wanna get on it and start experimenting with the homing system.

(also, it has a Russian Dudley character that will help fast-track things for me)

OMFG MVC3 is really fun. I am officially done with sf4. MvC or die! Chris made top 8 and won a copy of the game. I also recorded a pretty hype match featuring filipino champ that I’ll try to upload to youtube when I can.

Congrats Chrisis!

Thanks Taozen! This means that they’ll be mailing me MvC3 for the 360 along with some other swag they already gave me there. Waste of flesh shirt FTW!

On tomorrow: Family is out of town so 3PM to 2AM or so is when the session will be held:
Everyone should most importantly bring their awesome selves to play excellent games.
A stick for various consoles if possible, if not I think we’re primarily PS3.
If possible a console of any variety, wii, PS3, dreamcast, whatever you can manage!
Monitors and ways to connect consoles to them.
If a console other than PS3 and 360 preferably 2 sticks since people don’t know to bring a stick for various things!
A sense of fun and a will to play dat Mahvel crack!

YEAH, CHRISIS REPPING THE FREEDEMONIA CREW!

I wish I was there, man!

That said, looking forward to playing some Dark Awake tomorrow night (I will be there around 5 or 6; my times were switched around).

=========

Anyway, got some time on ARCANA HEART 3 tonight and I have to say…

It’s a really good fighting game.

(“It’s a good game™!”)

The mobility of the homing system is REALLY nice.

Also, I play Zenia like 3s Dudley: hit-confirm into super all day…

Talking about that, the game’s homing cancel system is also used to make a lot of things safe…

So it’s like you have a 1-button FADC that charges over the period of the match… while this sounds potentially broken, meter management becomes pretty important since you can only have 3 “FADCs” at the most (this is after “upgrading” the meter’s max capacity by attacking or defending)…

And the FADCs can also be used to get you out of blockstun (to either runaway or start your own pressure), so it’s a really cool system.

Anyway, can’t totally describe it since I’m still a noob at the thing, but I do suggest that people check it out at SFSU when I bring it this Saturday…

Thing is mad hype.
