I’ve been so lethargic, but I must stop being lazy; repost from e-mail thing:
There will be a SSIV single elimination (best of three; best of five
for finals) tournament this coming Thursday, 12/2, starting at 7:40
pm. The tournament will be held in one of the CAA game rooms, possibly
in 258 or 259, please look around the second floor of Dwinelle if you
have trouble finding us. The entrance fee is $1, which will be split
7:3 between first and second place, rounded to the nearest dollar.
We will be using the ranking from the last SSIV tournament for
seeding. This tournament will also count towards your ranking for
future SSIV tournaments.
That said, I’m currently wrapping up important computer stuff (got ESET, have microsoft office, etc.) and should be back in full speed… just a little more…
Actually, what’s taking everything so long is that I’ve been spending too much time over at Crunchyroll watching stuff :v
There is a tournament and ranking in the group now…I think I may have to come out of retirement and hop on the sticks. From what I can tell there are a lot of new people and well my ego will not allow me to be forgotten this quickly.
Anyone play Assasin’s Creed Brotherhood yet? I’ve only played the first one, wonder if should play the second one first.
I thought the first one was hella good eye-candy with very boring missions and had a lot of wasted potential. i actually am not a big fan of sandbox GTA type games, but I really really dug Assasin’s Creed 1’s environment. It was such an easy game but also immersive, so I would play with radar and all other HUD elements off and just rely on watching the NPC and eagle vision to find my targets. I had more fun doing random parkour and pointlessly engaging enemies to fight and run away from then doing the actual missions. I heard the 2nd and 3rd game improved a lot of the actual missions.
AC:BH is pretty much more of the same with added online deathmatch stuff. I came away from the first game with a similar impression: had way more fun doing random parkour stuff than playing the actual game. The mission variety is still pretty bad and the story missions require more trail and error than the original.
I recommend checking out AC2 first, the graphics are the same as BH and it has a little more going for it IMO with Da Vinci’s inventions and cheaper pricetag.
brotherhood is the godmode of assassins creed. more variety and the actual need to be stealthy (unlike the previous games where running around with sword play sufficed).
by the way cant make it to the tourney tonight cause im hooked on persona 4 for ps2… im a nerd for well done jrpgs. if this was on friday then i may have been able to go.
yeah man… valkyria chronicles was SOOO good… i d/led the addon content too… and im gonna get VC2 for the psp… THAT is how modern strategy rpgs should be… i love disgaea 3 but man, VC blew it out of the water.
by the way have you played the SMT: Persona games? sooooooooooo good. i played persona 3 portable on the psp… now im doing Persona 4 for ps2 and then after that persona 3 FES for playstation 2 (has some extra content that persona 3 portable doesnt have).
I’ve been wanting to play the persona series for a while. I’m stealing my co-workers PSP for my holiday travels, so I may pick up P3: portable with Valkyria 2.
Disgaea almost ruined me in college (my save file was +800 hours) so I sworn those games off. :lol:
