The BERKELEY EUDEMONIA Legacy (relocating to the SFSU Dojo thread!)

Yeah I saw that last night too Tao. The damn stick is the size of her torso.

DKL, I was going to show for the event today, but some other obligations came up.

Shytzoo, do you think that the XCM Converter will work with this controller? If you make it to next week’s meet I want to test it out.

Tournament was at 1? Would it matter if I showed up now? Or is anyone headed to eudo later anyway?

I got blown up by the strongest woman in the world…

ggs everyone  I wont be at EU next week so make sure you guys have twice as much fun for me!

DKL, we’ll run back my winning streak in two weeks. It’s hilarious how our recent matches quickly devolve to focus fishing, baiting each other’s DP, and random jump ins.

im not sure… we can test it out definitely. basically the only thing the xcm converter does is give the controller you plug in an xbox id, since xbox has some crazy chip in there. thats why xbox stuff is more easily converted to ps3 rather than the other way around

Ach, damn…

Couldn’t get to this post since I was in the dungeon all day…

Actually, someone did show up later and was bumped to the second round; you and Efren should’ve shown up and then we’d have more Team EU in there.

Don’t worry about it; we’ll be back at the regular meet over at Eudemonia next week.

Talking about that: Haibing actually showed up around 5PM; didn’t get any games in, however, since we were packing up by then.

Oh shit, good news: I TOOK IT HOME FOR TEAM EU; FUCK YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Finals match was intense; I manage to duck under Seumi’s (the Chun player) Kikouken and then punish with Ultra II (he threw out standing strong).

Last round was also interesting in that I ended it with an overhead: I knew he wasn’t going to do wakeup ex spinning bird kick again, so I went for the risky meaty…

In any event, I think someone recorded the matches and if I ever get a hold of them, I’ll post them here; this tournament (at least during my actual matches), is likely the safest anyone will ever see me play (I managed to not mash DP or do random jump-ins during the finals).

THE $40 AMAZON GIFT CARD IS DELICIOUS.

I now have taxi money for next week’s Cal Animage Alpha game night on Thursday.

====================================

EDIT:

Also, played some MVC2 with Marcos while I was at the thing… it’s very apparent that I mash in real matches…

That’s not good.

Gotta get more training mode in…

Anime Destiny was fun! Got to play lots of games. I didn’t place well in any of the tournaments but I had a lot of fun. Nobody wanted to play TvC… ;_; but it had anime in it, so why?

Anyways, DKL, that was a great final match, really intense!

It needed more moe and loli.

That said, yeah, we should’ve played more TVC; I got blown up, but it was fun.

(man, my partner takes like forever in that game to recover though; I kept pushing the button, but Batsu wouldn’t come out)

Also, Sergio, why did you get rid of your glorious playoff beard?

I felt like reality suddenly didn’t make sense.

^ Was it because of his parents? I’m sure any parents would’ve been proud of a beard like Sergio’s:tup:

But Roll should be enough moe and loli. Assists in TvC are more like combo extenders so you can’t spam them that much. It can also help out with crossovers and cover you while you try getting in. Actually, that’s what assist do in all versus games… they’re just slower in TvC.

I tried MvC2 for a little bit just now, and Blackheart has a pretty nice ground assist. I’ll try practicing that game more.

 you guys!

Woah, guys, Kirby is awesome; dat art style makes the game strangely amusing even though it’s like super easy (I don’t think you can actually die in this game).

Kirby car FTW.

In other news, we were talking about the voice acting in the original Resident Evil and here is a 10-minute compilation: it’s the best 10 minutes ever.

Here is the original “We got to the ROOT of the problem” line (Chris says this after the giant plant monster is killed):

Here is the same line in the remake:

Awesome ensued.

Oh man, I watched that Daigo vs. Marn match and it was like WOAH:

Shoryuken - Marn VS Daigo @ Seasons Beatings 5

Issues of sportsmanship aside, I’m no expert, but I think Daigo kinda underestimated the power of Rolling Thunder to punish fireballs (and backdash, if you read correctly, which Marn did) at the last minute… I’m still kinda wondering why Daigo threw it out when he did (it was tempting, I guess, mainly because the hadouken would’ve chipped Marn out).

That said, I’m pretty happy that Gamerbee won the thing; I was rooting for him (and Vangief) at Evo, so this is cool.

I’m still impressed at how many times he lands jaguar kick… you can block that by just sitting there (preferably you stand block though since I think it puts you at a disadvantage to just sit there and get into block stun), yet he sets it up in a way where he always manages to catch people while they attempt to do…

Anything.

That said, where the hell was Vangief?

EDIT:

ALSO, DAT JUSTIN MAKOTO; CHESTO.

==================

Screwing around aside, I need to get back into dat MVC2 training mode… I spent most of today dicking around and will spend tomorrow handling law school stuff…

I need to get my X-Box set back up, but I’m too lazy to get it out of the bag…

Congrats DKL! Hey what’s the Cal Animage Alpha game night thing? Can anyone go?

this is seum. gg dkl, you improved a lot since i last played you.

i was practicing my mag infinite/sent fast fly combos and no one jumped on for mvc2, damn you guys. mvc2 was the main arcade game i played back in high school. i play tvc also but i would rather play mvc2 than tvc.

I would rather play MvC2 than pretty much any other game…

GG. I was actually playing completely differently from casuals (I was actually getting blown up by that Ryu player earlier, actually)… I’m not sure if I have the energy to actually play like how I did in the finals all the time, really (I need to mash dat reversal as many times as possible).

Come on guys: Dudley dying from cross-counter spam is awesome.

ALSO I WAS TOO IN AWE OF MAGNETO JUGGLE TO JUMP ON.

That said, you should try making it to the EU meets since Chrisis is pretty hot with MVC2 and I’m currently trying to learn under him (and I want to see epic matches).

Will get more practice in when I finally stop being lazy… but then I’ve been enjoying The Story of Saiunkoku recently, so work hasn’t been getting done… also, law school; fffffffffffffffffffffffffff–

Marcos is trying to pick up the game as well.

BUT, yes, I hope to one day form team BB Hood or something to that effect; it’ll take a lot of work to get there as I still can’t understand half of the shit going on whenever the game is played…

Thanks.

ALSO, it’s every Thursday night from 7PM onwards on the second floor of Dwinelle Hall; look for people yelling.

Everyone is welcomed and, unlike the EU meet, it’s actually free (people would just have to deal with the weird Thursday sched).

That said, we may or may not be doing SUPER in the coming weeks; Wrathos is apparently interested in learning the game (he picked up a copy, which we might be able to use on my PS3 when I bring it) and I’m picking BBCS back up (would help if they finally release the damn DLC for XBL; WTFBBQ).

That said, yeah, I should talk about the CAL ANIMAGE ALPHA weekly meet more: it’s primarily for BBCS, but we could get SUPER going if there is enough demand (Thomas, who was at the tourney and plays Bison, is a regular and actually does have SUPER for the PS3).

=================

EDIT:

Okay, I have updated the opening post.

It’s technically not TEAM EU’s meet, but eh…

Why not?

haha i moved away from berkeley awhile ago, i was just there for AD and hanging out with everyone again.

Oh yeah, I heard about that.

You’re not even in the Bay Area now, right?

EDIT:

Also, what’s a safe way to tag CABLE in?

Viper Beam is pretty unsafe on the ground, so I’m not quite sure how the hell people get him into the game…

BB Hood’s a solid character, her projectile assist is GDLK and she’s actually good on point, she’s not god tier but she’s definitely great for low tier play.

Bringing Cable in is hard, you either do it after you kill someone and have a moment of safety, or you variable counter him in then hypcer cancel the scimitar into Hyper Viper Beam. That’s 2 gauges which hurts, but it’s a good punish for a lot of things. Bringing Cable in is a hard thing. >.<

Yeah, during the MVC2 run at the CAL ANIMAGE event, I kept noticing that just brining him in using SUPER was a bad idea… he was completely free to punish after Viper Beam ended since he can only do it on the ground when you tag him in like this…

I guess this is why I have to put him at the back of my team?

EDIT:

Oh my god, this picture of Arturo is depressing:
