The BERKELEY EUDEMONIA Legacy (relocating to the SFSU Dojo thread!)

Play Halo Reach.

(or login at a computer)

Also, I’m getting $20, so that’s… 20 hours?

WAIT, ZAKU, if you’re there at 11am, I’ll run my copy of SUPER over to you during my class’s break; I think we have a break around 12PM or so; you okay with that?

This way, you and MaNoel can get some practice in for like 2-3 hours before everyone gets there.

Sounds good. I can use the practice since I’m really lacking in my game…

I was hoping to make it out to one last session at EU before classes resumed but couldn’t make it out due to packing and such. The sessions were awesome and it has been great playing with everyone. If these meets continue I will be sure to make an appearance during my breaks so hopefully I’ll see you all again.

Awww we’ll miss you plasma-snake, where will I get my mirror match fix now? There’s always PSN, I suppose

Good games everyone!

Thanks for dropping by and hope to see you again soon!

That said, great games yesterday… will comment more, but I’m currently trying to watch Red Cliff, which is like 5 hours long and incredibly epic.

Great games yesterday everyone. Those SF2 games were so fun, we should do those more often.

Also, Red Cliff is amazing. I need to get the Bluray for that when I get a player. I was so hyped for the second part, I didn’t know that there was a second part until I finished watching the first one. The anticipation was killing me, the first part ended right before the big battle.

The large scale battle sequences in Red Cliff were extremely satisfying: watching that shield-tank stuff was more awesome than it should be… I’m also pretty fond of how clever a lot of the tactics are (such as how Liang procured 100,000 arrows; that was really really cool and when I finally figured out what the hell he was doing, I was all “Wooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh”).

That said, I’ve only got the last episode of High School of the Dead and probably the Billy Wilder film Some like it hot going on tonight…

Good stuff.

Also, yes, we should do SF2 again some time; that game is awesome (and hilarious: you mean stun is random???).

This talk about Red Cliff has peaked my interest, should I rent the original or theatrical version (is there even a difference)?

Stun in Hyper Fighting isn’t -totally- random, it just has very little rhyme or reason…

ST Cammy is hilarious, it’s like using Makoto in SSF4

EDIT: Oh and only ST characters can tech throws!

Hey do you guys meet any other day aside from Saturday?

Unfortunately, that’s really the only day when it goes down as it’s when most people are available; we polled for Sunday at one point, but then I kinda scrapped it since we would be losing a large chunk of people (such as Will and his friends).

That said, if you’re not free on Saturdays, you should look into the usual Friday meets they do in SF; Tao goes and he’s pretty into it, so it’s likely a cool group.

There is a difference and a bunch of scenes seem to be removed from the US cut (since they have to shorten it for US audiences as the usual US movie practice seems to be to get people in and out of theaters as fast as possible in order to increase ticket sales or something; this is something I learned while watching the commentary track for Martin Scorsese’s Casino and I found it quite interesting that people putting money into the movie were somewhat dismayed by the length of the film with regards to its marketability)… despite being an action movie, the buildup is pretty lengthy, but I found a lot of the dialog clever enough to warrant the length (which is surprising since Woo is primarily an action director, yet the movie isn’t mindless… some of the stuff that the characters say, despite being kinda cheesy and heavy-handed here and there, is actually insightful; I think there’s a reason why I like John Woo and Yoshiaki Kawajiri movies, despite them being deemed as “mindless” by the public at large… they do what they do very well and don’t try too hard to make the work more than what it really is, which results in a very tight and entertaining package).

Shoot! Yeah I’m back in San Jose from Friday to Sunday. :< I’ll probably drop by randomly if I’m in Berkeley on a weekend.

Well, we’re always here on Saturdays, so drop in whenever you’re around.

ALSO, I want to see Redline next month as I hear it’s showing over at VIZ theater:

Madhouse’s New Redline Anime Film Trailer Streamed - Anime News Network

Fuck yeah.

If you don’t mind a trip to downtown SF, Red Fleet hosts sessions every-other week. I attend fairly often, and we’d love to have some fresh faces!

Red Fleet’s likely having a meet this Friday night. This invitation goes out to all you Berkelites. Those interested should hit us up on the SF thread.

Back to EU talk:

Anyone down to try my pricing idea this next Saturday? Check my original post for details. If so, we should get a ‘roll call’ going.

^ I like your idea, let’s go with that for Saturday. I’ll probably be there at 2 if nothing else comes up.

MaNoel is not showing up since he has to go on a journey to find himself…

On another note, Valkenhayn looks so nice.

Look at that damage!

hey guys, sorry I havent be able to make it out to the meets and stuff…right now I’m spending my time on a covert operation to learn ibuki’s game. I figure since I’m getting a lil bored wit cammy I should try someone else to play as. don’t get me wrong I still rep the cammy army ( killa kila beez y’all!) but I kinda wanna challenge myself. but yeah I’ll try to make it out this week and hopefully bring a new style to the table. oh yeah I’ll post up the videos our mini tourney (eudemonia 0.5) soon. I also wanna try and attract more players to our meets and hopfully start a team through it! ;p but yeah I can’t stop thinking about the exciting new things I have in store for our community once we find the time to do it so don’t jump the gun anytime soon…

Ibuki can be a beast I have a buddy of mine that is a 14bp ibuki player I can try and set up a time for you to play against him that way you can see some high level play and learn some tips.

Too lazy to enter Credit Card numbers to buy DLC…

I lawled.

======================

That being said, talking about new characters, I’m vaguely in the process of picking up Chun-Li, but I’m not putting in enough time…

So far I’m at a level where I’m not quite sure what I’m doing: I’m still not sure when standing roundhouse is useful (kinda sucks as anti-air, apparently) and I seem to not be able to do any of her air combos.

Oh and the trial where you have to do crouching MK into light lightning legs is stupid; I’ll likely use the TURBO function to get it done at one point.

EDIT:

ALSO, this is the best Ken theme:

Cr.mk to lk lightning legs is easy if you reverse piano mk and lk a couple of times and then mashing lk. You might accidentally get mk lightning legs instead until you get the right rhythm. The timing is like blankas lp to hp lightning so if you can do that, the former is easier.
