what works with vista?
Emulator, or just a specific version of MAME? I know MAME32k 0.64 doesn’t work in Vista; it runs but you can configure sound, video or joysticks due to changes in the core files of Vista.

marshun: The latest version of any emulator should work with Vista, as long as it has been updated within the last half-year or so.
noskid: The 360 controller was designed to work with Windows XP and Vista. It’s plug and play if you have Vista; you need to download the drivers from Microsoft if you have XP.

I used to play online months ago but then my joystick was crashed and stop it.
Now what I want to come back and I can’t remember where to catch the mame0.64 version I used, because I formatted my PC and I’m very confused with my old files because I had lots of mame 0.64.
And now neither seems to recognize kof2003 or metal slug 5.
I already downloaded these versions but this problem continues.
This is frustrating because back on time I was playing with no problems.
BTW, mame 0.117 is the one for CPS3 right?

I am faced with a new problem.
My mame 0.117 used to recognize my 3s roms and now it doesnt. It gives the writing disc thing. For the american versions of the 3s rom, it’ll give me the writing disc to do you want to write disc. I did it one time and it loaded but took about 30 minutes. Now after I tried to use that same rom, it gives me the same message.
Also this only happens with my 3s roms. The japanese rom doesn’t even go into that writing disc thing. Frustrated. Any help will be appreciated.
noob question does this work in vista? i downloaded the mame64, when i try to open it it says i have the older version of comctl32 so i cant use the DEFAULT OPTIONS folder. I tried to copy and paste a newwer version in system32 but it keeps telling me i need permission. stupid fucking vista, tried it with UAC on and OFF and my acct is set to a god dam admin ! wtF!
Does .117 have a recording feature? How does it work?
It isn’t Vista’s fault that MAME32k 0.64 was coded for older system files. Go get MAME32++.
And really, this guide really needs to be up-dated now that Vista’s out and 0.64 is broken on it.
I’ve been playing 3S on the newest mame .117, and found that for whatever reason I can’t chat. It isn’t a big deal since I’m not all that talkative, but it’d be nice to be able to just to let the other person know what’s up sometimes.
Anyone know what the problem may be? (You do hit “T” to talk right?)

Hi, I just wanted to know a few of the settings that I can do to make kaillera run better. I now know that playing full screen will desync you and apparently always playing on lan/excellent is the best if you are under 50 ping. But are there any other little tweaks to make it run better? Is there anything that makes it not slowdown while in game sometimes even though my computer should definitely be able to run it fine? Are there any display settings to make it not as… “skippy”?
Edit: The servers that I am always in everyone always has their connection at good despite having their ping at 15 or whatever. Is this really the better setting or do they not think that lan/excellent is better? I believe running it on good is when it started going slow for me.
For running it faster on ur pc, if you havent tried already, use directdraw, turn off image engancements, have it run maximzed instead of fullscreen, stretch using hardware, use lower sound sampling rate etc etc etc
and yeah…the most important thing factor…get a consistent internet connection and play with people and on servers with low ping.
another noob question, thanks for the answers, i got it up and running, but is there anyway to map a 3 punch and 3k on the PS2 controller. Awfully difficult performing EX moves. get a stick get a stick i know =(

Get a stick. EX moves (for SF3) only need 2 buttons any ways. If you have trouble hitting 2 buttons that’s just flat out execution issues. Even 3 buttons is still just a matter of execution but that’s more tolerable since it’s easier to mess up 3 button presses. Actually if you get a stick and practice hitting all 3 buttons for EX moves…you should get them out most of the time.

i guess…practice makes perfect. anyways, having weird problems on kailerera whatever now. two days ago i could play against people online, but now today when i try to play the same people, my game boots up and it disconnects. Anyone know whats up? Im running mame32 ++ 0.117
Not sure if its a solution, but I always delete my nvram folder when it disconnects or pops up a message. Always does the trick.
So did I, and I have no clue what to do. I loaded it up offline, and when I went online, it asked me if I wanted to rewrite the cd again.
