I really just want to play some Arcana Heart 3 tbh, that game was pretty fun
It’s not that Marvel 3 is random (at least not directly)… it’s that Marvel’s playstyle - period - inspires random victory. (Somebody go ahead and try to bring up MvC2… I’ve got a hammer for that game).
Any game where you can very easily die in one combo is going to have that effect. Regardless of the game. Which is why I still say the LOW damage option is best. Despite the naysayers who think going from one combo-deaths to two combo deaths means everything will result in a timeout (I seem to remember games not always resulting in a timeout if you didn’t kill in one combo, but maybe I’m too old and that never really happened).
And of course X-Factor lvl 3 needs a duration nerf and the DHC glitch should honestly be removed but… that part we can’t directly fix. The damage standard, however, can be altered presently. I’d also still like to see DHCs make having 5 meters much more important by making DHCs require a “stepped” effect. Meaning… after the first HC which at least required some degree of “talent” to perform, the theoretically “free” combos following it (DHCs) ought to take 2 meters to perform instead of one, and since lvl 3s dont scale they ought to take 4 meters. So you’d need 5 meters to do 2 DHCs or DHC into 1 level 3 combo. But I’m probably the only one who thinks that would be a good idea…

And the whiteboard can be misleading. It’s actually meant to be read as a points system. So, by being 10th, I have the most points, and am the best on the whiteboard. This is refutable of course… my being the best on Xbox however cannot be refuted and so I’m going to make the claim, irrefutably. Now if we ever start playing on Xbox, I’ll probably make this claim disappear, but until then

@Darkside: glad that you havent given up on CS2. I dont know what it is, but I really love the new corner combo system. As you are a far more experienced player, I understand where you are coming from. If nothing else, no other game that I know of has a system quite like it. I would like to play you if I ever make it up to B’Ham.

New to shoryuken.com, so I dunno if this is the right place for this but figured I would give it a try. I’m from the the Birmingham area and have been trying to figure out the best way to stay informed about any tournaments in Alabama or if there is a place some guys meet up to play some fighting games. Mainly I’m just playing Mvc3(which I blow at right now) but am wanting to learn some SSFIV because of AE coming out as well as some MK9. If you guys could let me know where I should be looking to stay informed for current and upcoming events or if this thread is the best place for me to check, i would really appreciate it Bros.

I honestly didn’t expect to find much for the bama area with the surplus of coon hunters and top class red necks living through their favorite college football team(not bashing, I love me some football too), so I’m pretty excited about this. So the general times you guys meet are on Tuesday and Thursday 12pm-6pm? I was hoping for something a little later, but I should be able to work around this. Either way I’m just pump to find some people in the same general area I can play with, no homo.

i’m about to offend some people probably with my opinions so keep in mind these are opinions and dont matter too much because nobody likes what i like so it probably seems like i hate everything:
the only genre where i care about balance a whole lot is RTS
starcraft 2 is babyzone, imbalanced, plays like shit, and is boring. the sf4 of rts.
warcraft 3 isn’t an rts, its a run around the map with 4 units for 2 hours game at high level.
third strike is some alien shit where you option select everything. i hate option selects
hdr is babyzone
st is godlike but nobody plays it and i dont want to suffer through playing against online mexican O. Ken players to get good
mvc2 is godlike but only 4 people play online now and nobody plays offline. i still play it on the cabinet on campus from time to time

lol is the babyzone sf4 version of dota, and dota is already the smash bros of RTS. no last hitting, ganking is way too difficult so idiots dont get punished for mistakes

fps? i love quake 3 and its variants, counterstrike i respect but i dont play much, i love doom (though its very imbalanced in multiplay because they didnt know about balance when they made it), i love ut99 and 2k3-2k4, ut3 is babyzone, i respect wolf: et but i dont play it. everything modern is consolized pieces of shit though. tf2, halo, cod, brink, etc being mainstream is like if fighting games were completely replaced by smash bros clones
