It was nice to see The Rock…but he still has to earn a spot on the board.
I’m back in Birmingham. Anyone want to play?
Blazblue is so much fun. I can’t stand the fact that Arc can’t think on their own when it comes to balancing, though. At least listen to the good players instead of casuals! Every character I liked in CT is worse than garbage now.
Flattened meat…hmm.
Hear that boys? The stakes are high! 8)
Madison Fight Dojo pain Olympics next week.
Also anyone who is out of town should come to these things sometimes Thursday in Madison.
It’s good stuff. ;D
GGs to everyone who came by tonight. Who all from B’ham still reads this thread? Only posts I ever see anymore are from Huntsville/Auburn/Montgomery bros, with an occasional comment from Zero Gamer, RaishinX, or Silent Shinobi. Local people really gotta start checking this thread more.
Continuum Shift is very impressive. In regards to useful and convenient features, I personally think that BBCS is the greatest console port of a fighting game EVER. Worthwhile, in-depth tutorial; incredibly detailed and well written story mode; useful challenge mode; even small stuff like an easy button config on the character select screen. Online is the best I’ve ever seen in a fighter. Great netcode, accurate rankings (PSR), train-while-you-wait, and joining player rooms mid match and being able to watch the rest of it are all refreshing implementations. I’m a really harsh critic on most games, but this is one of the only times out of hundreds of video games I’ve played in my lifetime that actually blew my expectations out of the water. Seriously, you can tell ArcSys paid painstaking attention to detail to make sure every single feature was handled just right and the port as a whole really raises the bar.
Sorry for the long CS dick-riding rant, I’m just really having fun with the game.
i concur, but Legion mode is kinda boring imo.
but anyways, my gamertag changed to This Be Nagato.
I’m up for some bbcs but dont expect me to be all pro or somethin, im trying to get better anyways(gotta stop being being a newb spamming C so much)
I think the game is amazing too. Definitely one of my favs. I’m just miffed about gay stuff right now. I’m probably going to be a tier whore and pick up Bang because Rachel/Carl/Tager just aren’t cutting it for me. Don’t get me wrong, Tager and Carl are still somewhat respectable, but maaaaaan, my favorite character is so garbage, it’s not fair.
I hope Makoto ends up allowed in tournaments because she’s tied with Rachel for my favorite character.
Dude, Wes, we seriously need to play sometime. Preferably offline, but I know how the great nation of Birmingham feels about driving.
btw, I check the thread everyday, but I was away from a computer for a week and a half and that made me look inactive.
SSF4 Ranks Week of July 30 2010
We had some newcomers this week and I really like to see that, hopefully next time they won’t be shy to get on the sticks! Also good shit to Montgomery for making the drive to Auburn.
@Blazblue discussion
I really like BBCS but I hate that they toned down V13, Rachel, and Arakune (and I play as tager lol) because now I don’t see these characters picked much on ranking and in the case of V13 and Arakune they were redesigned completely so that means their playstyle from before will never be seen in the game again, and I liked to see it even though it was overpowered. Also I’m having to relearn how to play because before i spammed as much attacks as possible to cause guardcrush but now that doesn’t work with the guard primer system in place.
Skeletal Minion:
Good games tonight!
I was the blue Hakumen player you went against on Xbox, signed on as Epishe.
I pretty much got rocked those rounds, I need to learn to jab more. My mirror match is bawlz.
It was alot of fun. Hope to play you again sometime soon, I’ll try to put up a better fight next time.haha
I’d be down for some BBCS in person. I’m free for the next couple of weeks, let me know when you’re trying to play and we can get together at the house or your apt. And yeah, the Rachel nerfs were WAY overboard, that shit sucks. At least there’s the balance patch to look forward to, and Dustloop is really leaning towards allowing DLC characters at tourneys.
I feel ya on the top tier nerfs (and I play Hakumen. BBCT LOW TIERS UNITE). Personally, I would have liked for Lambda and Arakune to have the same playstyles, only less retarded, which is what I think everyone really wanted in the first place. Tone down Nu’s swords (mainly reduce speed or add recovery) and slightly tone down damage. Act Parser was fine how it was. Make it so clouds don’t curse on block (or can be removed by forcing Arakune to block), or that bugs can’t break guard but can still lockdown opponents for easy mixups, or nerf some of the gimmicky stuff (corner warp, high-low mixup while Arakune is airborne, dead angle throw). Just a few of those things and I would have been happy, but I don’t play Arakune and only toyed with v-13 for a moment, so perhaps I’m not qualified to say.
GGs man. Hakumen’s jabs and 6A are amazing pressure tools. Honestly, I take back what I said about being disappointed with the new 6A. The near-free pressure you get from it now might actually be better than the old 6A, lol.
i think a good list of changes would’ve been: remove safe on block dive (they did this), remove curse on block, remove any guard damage and air unblockability on bugs, increase startup by some on j.d to make the mixup less good
but yeah i think safe on block dive was one of the more retarded things he had, fuck that.
now he plays unrecognizably different though so i decided to switch to lambda because i might as well be playing a completely new char if i use the new arakune anyway.
Uhm…Haku-mens 5A is +6!!! on block???
Old shit that always cracks me up
On a side note I may have to stay home for a while since my fight money’s running low…:\
Hate to say it, but Arakune might be more of a monster now than he was (the whole clouds with no hitbox giving 40% curse)
He’s a much more execution heavy character now pre-curse due to having to earn it. but once he does BAM… you have the scariest pressure outside of some Marvel shenanigans.
I saw this vid (its Hima… one of the top 3 Arakunes in japan) that showed semi-practical ToD setups for everyone in the cast once they get cursed.
The Curse combos are the most EZ-mode thing ever for what they do to other peoples life bar.
Lambda is still a pain IMO (nerfed damage but much better tools. still very solid)
and Rachel is just a shell of her CT self (needing full meter to break 5k…no thanks)
yeah i am aware, it is not that he got nerfed actually, he just became a completely new character that is probably just as cheap.
I do admit… Arakune is a quite smelly brand of cheese :v
Yep. It also only has 5 frames of startup. Unfortunately, it isn’t super useful because it whiffs on every character in the game when they’re crouching aside from Tager and Hakumen. As such, those are the only two matchups where you’ll really get a chance to use it, and for other matchups you’ll substitute 5A for 2A (which is also plus on block, but not by such a beastly amount, +2 or +3 I think).
The changes to Arakune are pretty stupid though. To paraphrase a post on Dustloop: “Without curse, he’s the worst character in the game. With curse, he’s the best character in the game.”
MAKOTO’S OUT!!!
So much fun.
Already? Nice. Going to have to pick her up before this Friday’s practice sessions. We practice at my house in Flo-Town, so far it’s just me and two other people and last time we played games and had a cookout.
the new arakune is an interesting character that reminds me of iron man it is just fucked up that he has to replace the old one
Makoto’s a lot of fun, subbing her for sure. To do really good damage though, she needs to charge her whatever to Level 3, which can be difficult.
Lambda seems really weak, but then I always thought Nu was easy to fight so I guess I’m a bad source.
