The Bama Thread - "Country Living and Arcade Sticks"

well when the data is already included on the fucking disc (sf4 costumes) + 3d fighters have free costume creation systems that shit all over capcom… then i probably feel that that is a little bit retarded

but yeah most dlc isn’t a bad thing

@ Khorre: I sent you a friend request on Live but you declined it. GT was mLxed (I recently changed back to my old tag).

Anyone hosting in Huntsville this weekend? Let me know so I can plan a trip up there.

xbox not ps3

Hey, guys, I’m back in B’ham and I am going to be at AWA for Saturday only. Hope to see some of y’all later!

I know a certian someone trollface

Yo Soviet i need some lanks for the mame and third strike emulator. Hook it up!!

What. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT

I fucking LOVED playing PSO back in the day. PSU was fun as hell too, and I hope they keep some of the ideas from it. I’ll definitely be getting PSO2 as well, here’s hoping MS stops being dicks about cross-platform play so we can play together.

I completely agree with Capcom super-overpricing the SF4 stuff. It’s that kind of shit that gives other DLC a bad name.

have fun in atl bama

Hey Wes, here’s the kicker: the only confirmed console for PSO2 is PC lol. It could make multi-console status but PC is the only one they announced at the convention. This ain’t no remake either, this is a true and start from scratch sequel.

I’ll be at Atlanta Revival this Saturday. Me and Raekwon going. Anybody else gonna roll?

most folks are going to awa instead… i wish i could go to revival and play some marvel but i gotta do other shit

Anybody around “Da Gump” wanna play some SSF4 casuals tomorrow afternoon? I’m down for a couple of other games, too.

Around where do you stay at?

Taylor Road, but I don’t even have a console right now, so I’m willing to drive the radius extending to Prattville.

I’m not free until Wednesday and I’m in Prattville. If you are down, we can get some casuals in then.

Just got back from AWA. Thoughts:

  • The tourney for BBCS was actually super hype. I was expecting maybe 15 people to enter, but we ended up having 40(!). There was some good comp there and it was nice to see the people that made it. The only thing that sucked was how rarely they had a BBCS setup w/ sticks in the game room (stick players didn’t even get to warm up before the tourney). Other than that it was awesome: I got second place in the tourney, which earned me $40 from the pot and I get in AWA for free next year :bgrin: Shoutouts to Raph, C Deezy, Skitz, Chris, Phil, and the many cool players I met in the game room (sorry we didn’t get to play Zero–they didn’t have BBCS running when I had time to check).

  • I barely watched any anime at all, lol. The one exception was Anime Science Theater 3000 (showing some Sailor Moon movie with two guys doing funny commentating), which I only watched 30min of because I was too far away from the screen to read the subtitles.

  • There were people cosplaying EVERYWHERE, as usual. I have a ton of pics (around 50 or so), I’ll try to get them uploaded to a photobucket or something soon.

  • GOD DAMN YOU DEALER’S ROOM, GOD DAMN YOU FOR HAVING SO MUCH AWESOME STUFF I CAN’T AFFORD. Every year I go and see a TON of super rare ass stuff that I would be more than happy to buy. If I had the money, I could have easily dropped upwards of a grand in the dealer’s room, real talk. Some things I saw in the dealer’s room:

  • US Shining Force III, Shining in the Holy Ark, Enemy Zero, and a lot more rare-as-hell games for Sega Saturn, with almost all of them having their original cases and manuals
  • A Sega Saturn 6-player adapter
  • A Sega Nomad
  • A HUGE selection of import FGs. One dealer had pretty much every fighter released in the past decade (and many before), including several JP only bundles/limited editions, still in the shrink wrap.
  • Some extra random stuff (like an import Virtual Boy game that requires a JP Virtual Boy to play it!) and a bunch of other game related stuff I can’t remember
  • I just wish I could have bought a Sega Saturn s-video cable. One guy said he had a spare earlier, but had already sold it
  • Steak ‘n’ Shake is GOD TIER. I’ve eaten there in years past, but it was super crazy good this year. Easily the best food I ate all weekend and probably the cheapest. $3.99 Steakburger & fries combo with Double Chocolate Fudge milkshake assist is broken. They really need to open one of these nearby.

That’s pretty much it. I really didn’t do as much this year since I mainly hung around the game room and the only anime I wanted to see but hadn’t (Evangelion 1.11) ended up conflicting with when we went out to eat. I’ll definitely be going again next year :bgrin:

I got amazing pictures too, I’m going to write up a big ol’ story because this was the most fun I’ve had at an event like this.

They did have BB in the game room because I brought it and hooked it up, Wes, but then they closed and I had to take it out and didn’t come back until like a couple of hours.

OMG, that Morrigan was GDLK

yeah AWA this year was MUCH better than last year

didn’t attend the blazblue tourney since it happened friday evening and that overlaps those hell panels that i’ve made a tradition to see every year

anime science theatre 3000 was indeed amusing (especially the pussy)

The staff confronted me for bringing an Xbox 360.

They had a gameroom, but the consoles were locked in these box things and no one could plug in their controllers so I hooked up my stuff. People shook hands with me and said I was a godsend. Later, the staff said that I “probably messed with a lot of electronics and could have caused massive damage.” They then threatened to force me off the premise. I argued with them that it wasn’t that bad, but then they repeated that I could have caused massive damage and that I could be forced off the premise and I argued again and, once more, they said that I could have caused massive damage and that I could be forced off the premise. Realizing that I was trapped in an old school RPG, I was about to say that they were right and blah blah blah, but then my sister comes along and says that what I did wasn’t so bad and then they said that I could have caused massive damage and that I could be forced off the premise and she argues TWICE MORE.

I don’t believe that Anime convention staff are retarded. I believe that they are actually real life incarnations of old-school RPG characters that you come across in towns.

They never say anything smart or useful, but at least… never mind, they are retarded.

Also the controllers provided for the locked systems were partially broken.
