I live in Harvest (About 10 minutes from Madison and 20 from downtown Huntsville).
I don’t really know much about MvC/TvC as I’ve only recently started playing competitive 2-d fighters with SF4, but I’d be down to learn the in’s and out’s of either game, if you guys wouldn’t mind. I’m a very hardcore gamer but it’s hard to find people from around here to play with seeing as most of the SF4 business is taking place in Montgomery/Bham area and I’m still in highschool but like I said, if you and your teammate wouldn’t mind teaching a scrub, I’d be more than willing to learn.
We already spoke on it at FR but just for the record I tried like 2 weeks ago and your pm box was full. Don’t feel pressured man, I feel like I know you to be a man of your word.
Anyways, I’m assuming the reason no one’s in this thread is cuz they’re tired and whatnot but I have a large amount of ppl to thank and congratulate. I might actually have to spread this around the different fg game forums just to make it bearable.
First off I’d like to congratulate **Wes A.K.A. “Darkside937” or “Skeletal Minion” ** for taking 4th in his FIRST FUCKING MAJOR. We talked a few days prior and you were telling me how much work you were putting in and I swear I saw every damn ounce of it. When it got to, what was it Loser’s Semis ?, with you vs. Pheonyx I kinda knew. That match was so much different then anything I’d ever seen and the countless dozens of matches I’ve seen the two of you play. When you broke that throw outta clap loop, countered, and dashed back I knew you’d already won the set. You walled up, raped with damage and there’s nothing anyone can take from you on it. You did great and you made a fuckton of ppl very happy myself included.

None of us could even hear the SF4 finals intro for the amount of hype oozing off of that tv. Niggas throwin’ money on the table, RIDICULOUS shit talk and a crowd full of ppl huddled over like a 20’’ tv. You didn’t win teams but you raped GF in MB, anchored multiple times in GG teams and did great in GG singles. If you liked BB and played a decent character you probably could’ve placed in that too. I don’t know how many ppl entered but the profit was awesome. I’m not even worried or in a hurry to play this game cuz I know if I ever do I can just play you and Ben and relax.

Phoenyx, you don’t even read forums so why am I even posting this. I forgot where you ended up in everything except BB and I hate that you and Wes keep “sending each other home” at every fucking BB tourney . I can’t thank you enough for the ride, the effort that went into communicating with everyone (you’re really the only one who does it quite that well) and getting a bunch of disorganized niggas into 1 room. I can’t forget the food you bought in the cafe last night when I basically ran out of money (goddammit) and if you ever need/want something please let me know. For you and Wes to not play BB:CS and still get third in the 2-man tourney is just silly. We can barely get the game to run (what’s a Litchi) much less enjoy it and you’re still top 3. I wish you’d have payed more attention to Tekken (both when the game was coming out and at the tourney) but I kinda realized you wouldn’t be playing it a while ago.
I think I was ok after the two coronas I drank but had I drank more I really can’t promise that I would’ve been. I almost did a iws1 combo in tekken and i can’t even remember who the guy was playing. Good shit to you and everyone and I wish you could’ve gotten more casuals in. You need to start sleeping before tourneys, man.

The only time I felt like watching something SF related was when you were on. I never saw you play anyone other than 'Gief and that doesn’t bother me one bit. The way you lariat in ppl’s faces when they’re throwing fireballs is astounding. That match you had on the stream/big screen vs the Seth gave me goosebumps and I fucking HAD to scream when you won. Who’da thought you’d succumb to another damn 'Gief (jan you’re too nice btw). You don’t come up to the playover tourneys anymore and I understand but I wish I could see/play you more often. I’ll have to start traveling around whenever I get my car/bills straightened out.

I’d also like to thank Iceman for handling my spot/seeding, running the tekken stream, FR in general and playing matches all while being dressed to kill. I don’t know where we’d be without guys like you and ShinBlanka and I have very high hopes for your dream of unifying the south. We’re too close together to not be able to get along and the numbers you promise/bring to tourneys is fucking priceless. There was some confusion with door fee and all that but I really don’t care anymore now. As I was told I was given a regional spot that I feel like a almost didn’t deserve. I played worse at FR than I did at playover last month and my work ethic slumped drastically. I was rusty and I basically didn’t even intend to win the tourney. There are some excuses I could make but I think I’ll just hold 'em. I never knew the exact amount of stress and effort it took for you to come down here but I do want you to know that if by no one else (doubtful) you are highly appreciated by myself. You lead an excellent example and fuck whoever says FR isn’t a national major. fuck them, seriously.
I gotta thank the gump crew for comin’ down and I wanna apologize for blowing dick in the 5v5. I got drunk earlier and by that time I just wanted to go to bed. A part of me (regardless of how small) wanted to lose so I could just go to fucking bed and I’m sorry for bringing that to the team. Honestly now looking back Tom could NOT have made worse use of that spot. Skitz I regard Iceman’s word very highly and iirc you invented Storm (more or less)? That’s a huge accomplishment and your talent and work ethic can take you wherever the fuck you wanna go and I mean that. Silent Shinobi I think your knowledge of the game and enthusiasm towards it manifests as a huge push up the tourney results and national rankings. Alabama has become very hard to ignore partly to you and we need to get a tripod and some fucking equipment or something, shit.

Derrell - Thanks for supporting the scene as much as you do. There have been countless times that you’ve came by the house to do just that, even when we’re not playing any games that you’re maining. It’s cool knowing that whenever I have questions about an anime, you’re the man with all the answers. You’re also one of the best people to just chill and watch movies with ever.
Doren - Best Jam alive, and now best Miyako alive? Too beastly. Those MB finals were the most hype shit at the entire tournament, and you definitely deserved to win it. I hope you’ve got some Port for that pimp chalice, lol.
Pat - Thanks for helping me learn the Litchi matchup (especially when BB first came out) and thanks for hosting the Centerpoint gatherings. When CS comes out, playing your Litchi is going to be ridiculous.
Ben - Thanks for being the go-to man for Melty Blood. If you hadn’t hyped it up, the scene around here probably wouldn’t even be playing it. After seeing how awesome the finals were and witnessing H-Kohaku in action, I’ve finally decided to pick the game up. I can’t wait for us to start getting some matches in so you can share your wisdom on the game.
Zo - Thanks for lending me your stick so much during the tourney, and also for helping me learn how to block early on in BB. Your mix-ups with Ragna are too nasty, and I know that if I hadn’t eaten so many overheads in the past, I’d likely be eating twice as many of them now.
Joe - Thanks for helping me with the Hakumen mirror by making me realize that I’m not the only one with counters in the match, lol. That’s personally one of my hardest matchups and I’d be getting aced by Hakumens if I didn’t learn how to fight against him.
Isaac - I already said this when I called you, but real talk–if I hadn’t met you, I probably wouldn’t even be playing fighting games. I still remember the day of that Time Out tournament and being absolutely blown away after watching your Potemkin in action. Get well soon, man.
Cordarius - Thanks for training with me on Blazblue and encouraging me even when I was thinking about quitting. If we didn’t play as much as we do, I’d probably have no idea how to handle the Carl matchup or even most of the general ins and outs of BB. When Isaac gave me your number back in the GGAC days and told me to get some games in with you sometime, I didn’t realize he was introducing me to someone who would become one of my best friends. Thanks for everything man.
It’s funny, I started making this post to thank everybody for stuff over the weekend, but in doing so, I realize why I play fighting games in the first place: the camaraderie. You’re all true bros, and I look forward to having many GGs with you all in the future. Thanks for inspiring me to better myself as a player and a person. I had a ton of fun this weekend and look forward to the next tournament we all attend, whatever it may be.
I had a fun time with everybody this past weekend. People here have seen what’s good about Melty (even Isaac), so I hope we can get a solid scene going for it.
These next few months are going to be rough for me, since I am soon to be looking for an apartment and with that comes more bills. I’m finishing up school and trying to search for a 2nd job so that all of us can have some place to play consistently. Good shit to Doren, Phoeynx, and Derrell for keeping in shape in dat Melty. We got works to do, and hopefully I can help the newcomers more. Also, I’ll practice Guilty again for absolutely no reason lol.
