As far as I have planned is $5 for MVC2/Tekken/3S and $3 for CVS2/SFII: CE then we can take out $2-$1 from each player in the pot. If you want to take out a larger amount than the one I mentioned, let me know.
I’m also down if this helps for the hurricane then it’s a GREAT idea props to magnus for creating this good idea. I’ll try to bring in extra dough for the charity if I can get some.
I’m down for either taking $2 dollars out of a $5 buy in, or $3 out of $6. In either case, it’s both positive. If anyone can help spread this tournament to players around CA through word of the mouth, or even spreading it on other forums, that would also be a great help as well. Please spread the word, it would really help for us to know exactly how many people would be going so that I can tell other players from Sac, CenCal, and other areas as well. I hope to see some more responses, this is totally positive so far. I highly appreciate this.
BTW: I’ve been busy with other events of charity for the Katrina Hurricane victims, so whatever you guys can do to get people to come to this tourney, and/or post in here that they can come or even suggestions, that would be fine.
i’m down when is the tourney, anthony hit up the Mgl folks…and i say take the whole $6 or $10, they need it more over there we do. Lets play the tourney to win not to win a couple of bucks…
I think we should keep it like Anthony mentioned above and have something as a prize instead of giving the whole pot to donation. I mean, why even have a tourney right? You want the participants to actually play for something. Sure, the Katrina Victims need money. They are being given $2000 debit cards to every person that was a victim from the president as we speak. If you really want to help out, donate the money on the side.
i’m already helping out in my own time…but to me this tourney seems to be promoted by the katrina disaster
why have a tourney? to have fun, to play top competition.
you want a prize put in tokens instead…whats the prize going to be anyways if the cash was given out…10 , 20 bucks? any of us is going to spend that on tokens anyways in a month
I’m glad you’re helping out with the Katrina disaster which should be noted by others for them to do the same.
When I mentioned about why having a tourney was because tournaments held are to have a prize for the winner. If the whole pot is going to go the relief funds, which I do not have a problem with, then what does the winner get? nothing?
About your idea of tokens as the prize is a great idea.
Troy, how many tokens is SJGL willing to give to first, second, third place winners. Keep in mind that these are 4 tournaments. So it’s 4 seperate 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize tokens.
i dont know. my manager would have to talk to jason to see what they give out.
i personally dont like the way this is headed. i mean, if there was a tournament planned and set and then you decided to make it for charity thats one thing. but it seems as if its like, hey heres a way to boost attendance.
I can see where you’re coming from Troy. And admittedly, the boost in attendance was an added bonus. But here’s the biggest difference:
The tournament wasn’t planned out to boost attendance, it’s for the Katrina Hurricane victims. But there are a couple of other things that can happen along with it, like organizing a tournament with a boosted attendance, which also leads to giving new/average players exposure to some decent competition during this time of the year.
And i bet there are a couple other things too if you care to think about it, but the point is, the reason we’re doing this tournament is for the victims, and not the other added benefits that will come along with the Katrina Hurricane tournament.
Sorry to inform everyone but I just found out that I will not be able to attend on Oct. 1st until at least 9-10pm. Although this is not certain yet, it’s a safe assumption up to this point. Nevertheless, if Anthony, Korngo, Bronson are still willing to run the tourney, please make it happen. I will pledge $20 for the Hurricane Katrina Relief funds when I arrive but I will not be able to enter any of the tournaments.
If that is the case Bhushan, then we could lengthen the date to the week after the first. I wanted to propose that because i’d like more time to prepare and get the word out, and to get the info on who can come from around ca and possibly other areas as well. Actually, i’d prefer it if we could lengthen the date because of this type of tournament. I’d like to raise as much as possible for those people, while at the same time providing a fun, entertaining, and large tournament for all the players.
They finished putting it in last night, Ive played it before and I think the only good thing it does is tone down the top tier characters. Although Bryan is still a savage.
We have plenty of time to get the word out. I found out that I WILL be able to make it to run the cvs2/sf2 ce tourneys on time at 7:00pm. Here is my thoughts on the tourney on Oct. 1st.
MVC2/3S/Tekken 5 starts at 6:00pm
CVS2/SFII: CE/starts at 7:00pm
Early signups are encouraged.
You have already seen the flyer for the tournament in which everything still remains the same except the following.
Hurricane Katrina Relief Funds from San Jose Golfland is as follows.
MVC2/3S are $5 to enter - $3 will be taken out for HK Relief Funds and the tournament will be Winner takes all instead of 1st, 2nd, 3rd place.
CVS2/SFII: CE are $3 to enter and $2 will be taken out and the tournament will be winner takes all instead of 1st, 2nd, 3rd place.
I will still pledge $20 for the relief funds and any donation is welcome.
All the money will donated to Red Cross during the following week by Anthony or myself. Receipt/prooffor the donation is available upon request and one copy will be provided to San Jose Golfland management team.
Awesome then Bhushan. I’ll be going to MGL/SVGL/SJSU and speaking to other players to get confirmation of who’s going and not going during the next week. I’m looking very forward to this event. =]
Btw, shall we post this on the tournaments section soon? Or let it wait out a lil bit longer? It seems like we’re ready to do it.
sounds good to me. a few questions/comments. why are the games different prices? why is it winner takes all?
i will take oct 1 off so i can attend. hopefully we can get everyone together and do something afterwards to build the community like anthony was always planning. i can order pizzas for us or something. let me know what i can do for you. also, tomorrow i will speak with the manager and tell him about the reciept you plan on giving him. its better to give it to the intended person than to just some new employee.
let me know. ill try to be on aim. or email me or something.
