This is the most obnoxious thread I have ever read regarding a combo. I’ll be sticking to the 1st BnB.
Wait so what advanced BnB should I learn?!
Not this one.
what kind of answer is that seph ahah. i dont like that ground fly combos cause i tend to miss alot with it.this looks promising but is ther one besides this that i should learn?
This is the BnB I see most Iron man players use. It’s basically a modified version of acclaim’s Fly combo found in the Iron Man combo thread.

I know this is old, but I just wanted to say thanks anyway for that little bit of help. I was having a heck of a time doing this combo (and I easily consider myself to have above average execution), I’d tried a bunch of different things, and was in the middle of just using part of the combo with a different ending.
Then I read through this thread, and your single line of text made me realize what I was doing wrong lol. In order to get the d.H after the unfly command I now just do the samething I’d do on the ground to tri-jump with him. Just hold df and immediatley press M+H twice really quickly. It’s the same as tri-jumping on the ground when you using either M or H on the approach (I use jump xx df then L+M twice really quickly on the ground for an approach or M+H slightly slower).
Doing it that way makes the combo pretty easy, now i’ll just practice it a few hundred times or more to make sure it’s in the muscle memory. It was making me go mad that I couldn’t get the addf d.H, I could do the other verison of this combo (unfly, H, jc.H, d.H…) without much effort.
Funny how something so small that you’re ALREADY doing elsewhere, can ‘unlock’ something you couldn’t ‘do’. lol I feel like I just leveled up suddenly.
Random other weird fact…I didn’t realize that you can call assists when the OPPONENT hits the ground, I had always thought you had to wait until YOU hit the ground. I had my timing set pretty well before, but now I feel like I have an eternity to call them lol…I think I saw that tip posted on the youtube video explaining the combo in the comments section. (guess there are actually useful comments on youtube afterall)

OMG that tip just made this so much easier .
I was doing a ground based fly combo as my main bnb , and now I’ll be doing a modified version of this , as its just less stress
I’m glad I could help! Amazing how something sooo small can change the whole outlook on a combo.
I love the ground fly combos, but sadly you have to be very close to the opponent in order to get that first L. I wish it had more range on it, or you had enough time to move forward after the fly command. The damage from the ground fly combos is fantastic they look BEASTLY/SAVAGE in comparison to any of his other combos, and they build tons of meter.
I personally think that when you know you can land one, it’s still worth going for as long as of course you can execute. It seems that the only real time you could guarantee the range is in the corner. I wouldn’t be surprised to see someone come up with a way to make ground combos a bit more assured.
Kei
with this style fly combo you have better chances for resets
but his damage is defo in ground fly which is shane
I totally agree, that’s my favorite thing about the addf fly combos. You have very good chances/options for a reset leading to huge damage! I’m still working on figuring out a few options that fit my personal style in regards to resets. I spent the majority of last night practicing the addf fly combos, as well as the extremely important air throw combos.
Both combos build over a meter so there is always the option to end in a proton cannon if you want, or just store teh meter away for a rainy day. In doing my combos I prefer to use the M,M,H,d.H, S as the air ender so that I never have to worry about missing an OTG smart bomb because of not getting the perfect dash range. I know I lose a touch of damage/meter, but the peace of mind is FAR greater, and if you end the air throw combo with even a the H.smart bomb you still build more than 1 meter anyway only losing a very small amount of damage.
I think sometimes there is a bit too much focus on doing max damage instead of the delicate balance between damage/meter/ease. I tend to favor more toward ease/meter/damage considering the difference between most of the big damage combos is nothing more than an random s.H or so lol.
I haven’t practiced doing the air throw combo into the addf combo just yet, but I’ll likely get to that today (inbetween LeMans breaks) or tomorrow. It’s very nice though knowing that with even the very basic combo such as… air throw, M.smart bombs, addf M, d.H, c.M, s.H, S, sjc. M, M, H, d.H, S, dash, H.smart bombs xx proton cannon…you end up with something like 481-483k damage without spending any previously stored meter. I’m optimistic that you will end up with even more damage, and maybe meter as well doing the relaunch addf combo after that first S.

yer i was working on movement and mixup first before even touching a advanced combo
Absolutely, it’s the smartest thing you can do for any character honestly. Basic combos still hurt a lot, and if you can’t move around then what good is any combo in the first place.
As for doing the addf fly combos after an air throw, I gave it a go today however it seems it may not be possible to do. The opponent seems to recover before you get the M, d.H, unfly part…maybe you can do it hella quick, but I don’t think it’s worth it if that’s the case.
I checked the damage on the airthrow combo I mentioned that I do earlier, and it’s 478k-482k depending on whether or not the proton cannon itself (the actual cannon counts as a hit) hits before they get blasted. I’d say that’s some pretty sweet damage off a simple throw without needing to have any meter at the start. The combo itself builds around 1.1 meter which is pretty awesome, but since it’s off an air throw it only does around 284k-287k without the proton cannon due to scaling. That means I’ll very likely end in a cannon every single time.
I usually use Wolverine/Dormmamu/Ryu to practice against to get a good idea of who it works against size wise, and I like fighting against them in the training room to practice certain things outside of vs. mode.

I’m pretty sure u can’t do the air dash combo after a throw because you use the air dash already?
/ modok for some reason is the hardest to hit ,
I don’t think that doing the air dash twice will be a problem since you do touch the ground before you do the 2nd dash, where I was having the problem was really just hitting the first hit after the sjc.H.
Interesting that you’re having an issue hitting Modok…are you practicing in the corner or mid screen? If you’re in the corner you actually don’t need the addf at all, I still do it anyway, but you don’t need to do it. In the corner it seems you do have to be careful if you do actually use the addf though.
Kei
just everywhere tbh the ground fly.combo I was doing only wiffed on him , no idea why
Ah okay, I didn’t realize you were talking about the ground fly combo instead of the addf combo. Iron Man does have some combos that seem to work on every except a few characters like Zero comes to mind.
To my knowledge the addf combo works on every member of the cast. There is more than one version you can do depending on size though if you want a lil extra damage. You can add a s.H before the first launcher, and then later add another s.H launcher on the relaunch. That can give you a nice extra bit of damage, but it’s a midscreen combo for normal/smaller characters only. You have to delay a little timing for characters that are medium sized though. It’s really nice to be able to use, but honestly it’s still smarter to just go for the normal combo just to keep your reactions in tune.
Kei
Thanks for clarifying , which was my point exactly… This combo works on everyone big or small

No problem, thanks for making this thread in the first place.

The first time I saw this thread I thought it was a troll post cause Iron man was just taunting for the first 5 seconds of the vid lol.
