"The answer lies in the heart of battle." Ryu Video Thread

Cammy as a dhalsim counterpick? Maybe…

Sometimes bad things happen in tournaments. Trying to divine more than that without further examples will probably end up fruitless in this situation.

Perhaps he’s trying to emulate Mr. Wong and make it seem like other players have a chance at tourneys.

well in all honestly it look like daigo was having a bad day because he was dropping links with ryu also!!! but hey it happens and congrats to ryan on his win

There is an interview with Ryan Hart, who states that it was Daigo who asked for the blind pick.

My bad, I heard the story second hand, I wasn’t there or anything.

maybe he got scared or nervous, it happens to everyone in tournaments!!!

He beat Ryan in a first to five afterward so I think he was having a bad moment.

YaYa, old Ryu vid of mine. Sharing is caring right?

Yes he is.

I respect your opinion and I got nothing against Ryan, hes a sick Ryu, but looking at tournament wins and general play, Id be hard pushed to say hes on a level with Daigo. Just my opinion.

Oh yeah as a Ryu I don’t think he’s on Daigo’s level, but as an overall beat 'em up player I think he is.

(1st round)Your Ryu is in a hurry. Your opponent was having trouble with your fireball zoning but then you have the need to rush-down and fall into his quicker pokes…work on recognizing what you are doing right and stick to that until he breaks down that barrier. Watch those cross-ups and empty jumps as auto-correct DK from fei will stop your pursuit.
(2nd round) The block strings need to be solid. Something you can rely on when you want to space him out back to a range where his throws aren’t a problem…the focus usage in this match was okay…I like the FAbackdash sweep after you absorbed his…not too bad.
(3rd round) At this point…mentally he could not handle the pressure you were giving…the jump-ins to me looked pretty unsafe against fei…but he wasn’t in the mindset to punish correctly so its all good. Work on safe jump situations because if I were playing you I promise a lot of that jump in pressure would have been STOPPED. I enjoyed watching the match man…TMeezy is my gamertag. I’d wouldn’t mind playing you.

As for as ryan and daigo match goes… I think if you lose consistently to one person than other guy is just plain better… Well, that’s how it is in sports like tennis and here in the U.S we all think daigo is some godlike entity that cant be beaten and that’s the soul reason why he takes evo every year because most players approach the match with a already mindfuck state thinking it’s impossible to beat a god as people claim him to be… Ryan doesn’t fear daigo and that’s the main reason why he does really good against him…

So I watched this and basically came to the conclusion that Daigo must be sick or something on this road trip. I mean, back to back whiffed focus attack, really? The only thing I can really give the Fei player credit for is focusing hard on winning the footsies to put Daigo off his game, but nothing else was special.

Maybe he was trying something new in the team tournament just to see how it went or something, but do people see the same stuff in this replay (there’s a few other really awful sequences in this game alone)?

That guy OCV’d Daigos whole team. Give him some credit.

He beat ryan hart pretty convincingly too.

Daigo was very much beneath himself at SVB, nuff said.

Thank you so much for those Air vids. I absolutely LOVE the way he plays Ryu. Seeing him and Eita play eachother is just incredible and really made my day.

i’ve seen a bunch of air matches from shinblanka’s youtube channel and i don’t like his play. he doesn’t seem to anti-air as much and plays auto-pilot most of the time.

i do too especially on XBL, but those are just my opinions on what i’ve seen so far. he’s smart and plays solid matchups, but does a lot of dumb things as well.

i wanna see him in tourney matches. he plays those much more seriously.

Valle has insane footsies and knowledge of the game, so don’t judge to hard.
