The Android thread. Questions, comments, help, etc

So Verizon rep didn’t give me the SIM for my Nexus 6 because when the booted up the phone he said the ID wasn’t in their system and it is locked into sprint. I knew he wasn’t going to help me but I know if I call Tech support they can manually add it to the system.

I’m sure they wanted me to pay for one (the phone) from their store which is why they probably didn’t help or offer me a solution. Making me do more work. I’ll go to another store but just ask for the SIM.

What kind of phone you got? I’ve never had that problem. That’s one of the problems I have with android, too many companies want to put their own spin on the OS and it sucks dick.

You said delete because of the “Battery Booster”, which I don’t use. I use it for cleaning random useless files that my apps store.

Fell asleep with my pants on and wet the bed today for the first time in at least 5 years. Might have killed my Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 (it was in my pocket) doing it too. It won’t charge and the home button is flaky with when it works. I’m trying to dry it out in a bowl of rice right now, but I’m assuming I’ll have to replace/repair it.
Assuming a repair shop cost is well over 200 bucks, is there a more recent player that operates on android and is comparable to the SGP 4.2? Samsung discontinued them. Size matters here too. There are plenty of options out there if I want a tablet in my pocket, but it seems everything as small as the SGP nowadays is a way overpriced smartphone. I used the SGP for playing music/videos, WI-FI, and the occasional photo. I don’t need phone capability. I’m looking for something that’s under or at 200 bucks (b/c I’ll have to get accessories too).

  • btw: what do you American cats think of the Padfone? good phone? bad phone?

windows tablets are better. ditched my lg gpad 10 for windows tablet. I have 2 of them. in fact I can sell you a like new 8" windows tablet. bought it brand new from bestbuy but then bought a bigger one. PM me if interested. this one

but compared to those 2, I’d go with the LG for sure.

Thanks for your time, but size is important here. I mean literal physical size. I want something that can fit in my pocket. As I said before, I know there are a bevy of Android tablets out there that surpass the SGP, but I want something that’s as small as it was (4.2 inches) without being a smartphone that costs 300+ bucks. I don’t need the smartphone capability. Is there something out there like that? I’ve been looking and all I can find are smartphones.

this clip thingy for ps4 controllers is gdlk. doesn’t even require any power. it just…works with the cable.

Found a real good android emulator if anybody actually gives a shit.

Don’t know if you guys use “Ok Google” voice commands, but if you have the Tasker app, you can set a profile so that when Google Now launches, the volume goes up so you can hear what she says to you. After you close the app, the volume goes back to where you left had it set.

This is great because my media volume is usually low and I would have to turn it up every time I wanted to use Google Now.

I mainly use it for reminders to quickly set alarms and reminder to dry my laundry lol.

Wife wants the S7 Edge. Verizon has a buy one get one free deal going on right now so we’re going to check it out . Going to stop at a Verizon store tomorrow to talk to them about the deal. I’m still using my Note 3 with a 6500 size battery, this has been the best phone I’ve ever had.

Where did you get that battery

gorillagadgets.com/products/samsung-galaxy-note-3-6500mah-extended-battery You can always check ebay or amazon for ZeroLemon batteries. A few of my friends use those.

I’d be surprised if that happens before Google releases their new Nexus devices with Android N.

Saw a Nexus 5X a couple of days ago. Holy shit, it’s HUGE. I wanted to buy the Nexus 6P, but after seeing how big the 5X is - I’m not so sure anymore. I could maybe go for the Moto X Play since it has a 5.5" and it seems slightly more bearable, but 5.2" indeed does seem quite big, and I say that as the Nexus 4 user

Doesn’t seem that big to me. Course I have a Nexus 6 currently. This seemed big but I’m used to it. I have reg size hands too. I just like the larger form factor.

Moto X Play is a great device. Until you crack the screen at work.

Been doing a lot of research on both versions of the Samsung Galaxy S7. And still wondering about somethings. The one I’m getting the verizon model has the two dual core processors (Snapdragon 820). Is that still a true quad core?

And isn’t that a lot less powerful than the other version with the octo core? Just wondering why we in the us didn’t get the one with the octo core. It almost looks like there taking a big step back with the two dual cores and saying it’s a quad core processor. I have the S5 right now and that has a quad core processor and not two dual cores. Have a S7 coming in the mail though the one with the two dual cores.

Downloaded Nova again. Dunno why I went so long without it when I replaced my old Note 4. Sometimes I wonder if I should have gotten the 5. They were the same price for me but I wasn’t willing to sacrifice removable storage.

Just ordered the Note 7. It’ll be my first phablet, and second Samsung. Does anyone have a good suggestion on a screen protector that will work with an Otterbox case?
