The Android thread. Questions, comments, help, etc

That’s pretty cool, but I don’t know if it really works for somebody with a lot of devices. Just more stuff I gotta buy to get what I want that only works on one device. Better than nothing, though, I guess. I’d still much rather not have to use the USB port to either access more storage OR charge the thing.

I see. I most likely will get HTC One. No offense to samsung lovers, but their round/bubbly edged looking phones make me feel like it’s a girl’s phone. Xperia Z caught my eye too, but the short battery life and finger print prone turned me off quickly. Could have lived without front speakers.

I wish! That’s their 7" version.

htc t6 will have front speakers and the snapdragon 800. I don’t know if you want to deal with a 6 inch screen though. I’ve got medium hands and my note 2 is fine for me.

I don’t talk on the phone much so that isn’t an issue but people have commented on the sizewhile I use it for other stuff. I don’t even think about its size anymore when using it until I see any other phone with a smaller screen it makes me glad I have the note.

Motorola x phone just got announced and it is not cheap at all yet still has only midrange specs. Motorola/google so stupid.

I gave up on Motorola. Will never buy another phone from them ever.

i picked up my chromecast from the post office today and set it up (a minute to do). casting youtube videos from my phone worked fine. i didn’t get the netflix email from bestbuy for ordering it so i gotta email bestbuy about that.

the major problem is my computer isn’t fast enough to cast any movies from my computer. apparently you need at least an i5 to cast in 720p. whenever i try to cast in even 480 the sound works fine but there’s just a static picture on the screen. it’s sorta pointless since i have all my stuff streaming on through my ps3 anyways. i was hoping i would be able to cast twitch from my computer to my tv or stream a ppv boxing/ufc fight but again, my computer isn’t fast enough. i will have to bring it to my parent’s house and see if it works through my brother’s i7 laptop.

i don’t know what i’m going to do with it now. ps3 already has a youtube and netflix app so there isn’t really anything i would cast on it. i might just give it to my parents so they can watch youtube on their tv. right now i don’t have much use for it.

If that’s the case, I’ll pass on it. I’m sure a better alternative will come around now that they’ve opened the gates.

Couldn’t recommend LavaCat more: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.PocketCake.LavaCat&hl=en

Haven’t been this hooked on a game since Yoshi’s Island…I still can’t beat level seven!

Got my new Nexus 7 today. Dat screen… its like staring at the nicest looking ass imaginable. Nothing but joy.

Looks like the Asus MeMo Pad FHD 10 will have an LTE version with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor:

Just saw the Butterfly S and damn looks pretty sexy. Might have to wait for that.

bought another game for my droid.

JET SET RADIO

and that shit is hype.
no joke.

Can’t believe the note 3 might be out in 2 short weeks. Note 2 has been the best phone ive ever owned and I have zero complaints about it and I’m sure the note 3 will be even better (benchmarks have it at least twice as fast). I’m probably going to get the samsung watch as well just because.

I am due for my Verizon upgrade. Having my Galaxy Nexus for the last 2 years has been amazing, I love this phone. The single flaw with it has been the battery life…its a joke. Even if I actively manage it its garbage, so I carry a spare which has worked out fine.

I am leaning towards the Galaxy Note 3 at this point.

I was considering:

GS4 - Badass phone, nothing to complain about…but the GN3 will be better across the board.

Droid Maxx - (excellent battery/build quality) but 720p, no removable battery and no micro SD card kinda sucks. 720p isn’t a problem really…

HTC One - Love this phone but again, no removable battery and no micro SD.

HTC T6 - Not out for a while…??

Xperia Z & Ultra - Sexy as hell but shit battery WTF…

The battery on the note 2 is pretty amazing. I’m sure the note 3 will be comparable. More juice but it’ll be pushing 1080p so it might be a wash.

So i ended up geting Sony Xperia S Tablet for my b-day…I really like the design of it more then the Z…Now im regretting, the video quality play back is kind of bland. I thought HD screen wouldn’t be important on such a small screen.

@rcaido
can you elaborate on what you mean?
Edit:
scratching out my question.

hmmm. some people say the screen is the best, others the worst.
I know I like my screen to just be bright and vivid…detailed resolution isn’t that important to me.

oh, does your Xperia interface easily with all your sony devices? do u have Sony tv? can you connect it to a sony bravia and watch tv on it? I coulda sworn I read it could do that.

btw, my JET SET RADIO game took up a ton of memory space.
1.75GB of freakin space!
a quarter of my phone’s memory.
compare that to KoFXIII which only takes up 651MB.

Its like comparing DVD to HD when it comes to video playback. So when you’re streaming on Netflix you’re not getting HD but more like an upconverted DVD. Its good but its not HD. HBO Go looks much nicer on it though & some HD youtube stuff but its really bothering me. When connecting it thru my TV w/ HDMI the video playback is just as bad. My asian wife has an Ipad & the video playback is silky smooth when watching movies. The rest of stuff in term pictures, internet viewing, & overall interface is quite nice, its just the video playback that suffers.

As for the rest of the stuff, its pretty awesome. Has a universal remote so i can use on my Home Theater stuff, has macros. I can push one button & powers on the Projector, Receiver, & cable box/blu-ray player…

As for watching TV im not sure but i think i read up on that too…Ill let you know if i find out more about it.

A cool thing about this tablet is that i can use my PS3 Dual shock to control the tablet. Im going to try out the emulators next.

Would you pick up a used one, on the average price of $400, likely going to be black or white, or just buy it brand new for around $625, to be able to choose the actual color?

I’d prefer blue, red, or even purple over the black or white.

So…$200+ to choose the color?
