My friend had that phone a year or so back.

Damn, you still hanging on to that thing?

I don’t switch out phones at all until I can upgrade w/discount. It does make me wonder how often ya’ll switch out phones?

I think they do it every time a new model comes out…

well unless I REALLY hate my phone I usually can manage what I have until I upgrade. I recently just dropped my phone and got a nasty crack on the screen but with a month to go before I can upgrade, I’ll tough it out.

I sell mine for half the price of finding one on the internet, keeping my upgrade intact in case something happens or something new comes out that I really want. Got a Galaxy Nexus for $200 after selling my Droid X2

It depends on what model comes out, really. If I see something I think is worth not waiting, I’ll just do as Aced-Turned-Joker does - flash back to stock, remove all my information from the phone - sell it on eBay/Craigslist (not so much Craigslist these days) and then buy the phone I want via the same method. Then, we still have the upgrade when it comes around… so we can swap it out for a newer model then. I think I’ve been through 4 phones in the past two years and my upgrade is at the end of the month.

What do you guys think of the samsung galaxy media player 5.0?

Just bought a Galaxy Nexus today. My first smartphone. I feel like a grown up.

^ Good fucking luck. What phone did you have before? You WILL feel like a lost little kid stepping into the world of smartphones.

A Kyocera, one of Virgin Mobile’s pay as you go phones…yeah…

I pondered getting one (I have two Zunes at the moment) for some of the more eclectic variety of music I listen to. The price is a tad steep, but you are basically getting a mobile (without the mobile ability). It’s basically the Android equivalent to an iPod Touch (access to Google Play/Market and apps, plays music, but no phone service). I did like the idea that you go up to 32GB via MicroSD without having to change hardware (unlike most traditional mp3 players).

Any song id apps as good as or better than Soundhound (english, japanese, other language songs)? Soundhound causes my droid to freeze. And it transmits your gps data. No f-ing way for that.

If you were using Soundhound, I’d assume you moved there from Shazam?

No. Soundhound was my first music id app as of yesterday. Can Shazam do jp songs?

Found out that I can get a Droid 2 Global for dirt cheap here in China (Relatively - $100 vs. the like $300 for a Droid 3 or $400 for a Galaxy S II). Saving up money.

The only foreseeable problems I could see is that these phones may have bad ESNs. Trying to get hold of the sellers regarding the ESNs, seeing if I could check an ESN before I buy, since I would like to use this phone on Verizon when I get back to the US, otherwise, it’s useless, and I might as well pick up a different phone, and just use it on AT&T or something. But I already have a Verizon account with unlimited data so I might as well use that, right?

They also seem to be pre-rooted, which turns this phone from meh to good for me, because I liked the design to begin with, and I could just flash it with Liberty or CM7 FTW.

Plus, I always liked the notification light on the D2. I’m surprised none of the Galaxy series uses that. I wish more phones used that, especially global phones.

It’s hit and miss, really.

I just tested it with some Halcali and some M-Flo. It worked with them. But the more obscure stuff, like say…D&D? No go.

Looking into that new Galaxy Tab 2 7". $250 for a Tegra 2 with ICS and not a lot of bloat ware? Interested.

I love my Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G. Prob the best phone I’ve played around with.

Welcome to the SGSII club. Get rooted.

Anybody know of a way to add funds to google wallet without a credit card? I set up google wallet on my Nexus (unrooted) and bought some McDonalds and a coke at the mall with my phone which felt pretty bad-ass but the free 10 bucks you get for signing up are pretty much gone now. I was going to use my debit card to add funds but I have a P.O. Box set as my billing address so that won’t work. I was thinking of calling my bank and changing my address or simply getting a new card but I’d still feel a bit unsafe putting my personal info on a 3rd party hacked app. Is there any other work around to get funds into my account?

edit I created a new checking account with Bank of America. A couple of hours later I transfered money to my Google Wallet with no problems.
