Yea I wish I caught his fights with Kindevu and Uryo, but yea I was using a camera full of photos and videos of my time with my fiance haha, it was complete chance that I was absorbed in the street fighter world over in Japan.
AmeriKen plays brilliantly and I asked him if he knows frame data and all that crap and he had no idea what I was talking about so in all honesty AmeriKen plays the way that he does just from seeing pro and cons of matchups as he plays at big box everyday after work… he doesn’t have the game at home so all his learning and experiences come from fighting at Big Box. I guess over here we play for bragging routes, pride, and sometimes money and I asked him why he played so much and so well over there and he told that because of the language barrier he had nothing else to do but play SFIV and one of his best feelings is when he beats someone and they say “Umai” which means “amazingly good” in Japanese. Because there is no money involved in Japan… people just play for pride and prestige.
AmeriKen knew I was in Japan for my fiance, but he was very surprised to see others fly to Japan just for street fighter alone that week. The guy takes street fighter seriously and at the same time not seriously. I’ve seen him leave arcade cabinets during a win streak because he was tired or something. The funniest time was when he was on a win streak and I snuck in a match with him on the other side, but when he realized it was me I noticed his Sagat stopped moving and he suddenly came over to me and said “Hey man, I need to go take a shit so just kill me” hahah I was like WTF!? because I really wanted to play his Sagat, but yea I had chances to fight him at GodsGarden for fun a lot so yea he is truly something to see.
There could only be so many videos people can post but every match at big box is just incredible and its hard to tell when to have camera rolling. But yea my intentions were to catch the atmosphere of Big Box for people back at home and of course to get AmeriKen known here. haha my fiance was like what is up with all these arcade videos on my camera!?
as for my videos I personally like AmeriKen’s videos of course, Tokido vs Ameriken and random Sagat… and of course…me getting my ass kicked by my hero daigo.
All those Japanese pro learn all the combos in Arcade fighting people. That’s very impressive. it’s not like other people let you practice.
Shinobaka, is there any way you can get him to clarify on the faster tiger shots and uppercuts? I just want to know if he is talking aboutkara shot or if there is something else.
Yea sure, he might post here when he wakes up or something or after Big Box? heh But I can tell you what he told me at Big Box but I still did not understand.
He told me it was with Heavy kick to tiger shot or tiger uppercut so I would assume it is that kara. And I think he said something about that could be done if the opponent blocked a tiger shot he could do something in or for the next one to come faster or with him inching up so eya it has to be kara. The best thing I can guess is that it is a heavy kick kara tiger shot and uppercut.
The interesting thing is I heard him talk about it with Marn and I am pretty sure I heard Marn tell him that even he coudl not understand why Tiger Shots seemed a little bit faster in Japan and AmeriKen began explaining it but liek I said I didn’t get much or hear much because I was still excited about the seen, but of course I am sure he would clarify it in this thread or not he could always email me or talk about it over the phone, but trust me everyone the truth will come out heh. There is a chance that it just might be a heavy kick Kara or maybe it is something we don’t know yet.
