The AmeriKen (Sa) that should come home (vids included)

hmmm just noticed your name… maybe I shouldn’t have told you that…

but yea anyways this thread is my gift to him to show my thanks for all that he did for me in Japan. And I could truly see he has talent and I wish he would come home and compete. I mean ranked #48 even when his card is lost is pretty damn impressive. He told me that there could only be 50 grand masters in Japan and well yea… he’s one of them and he’s American. I wish he found his card because I know the BP would be even higher… his new card U.S.D.A already had about 42,000 when I left so i know it could go only go higher from here

Hey Shinobaka, could you explain how the BP system works in the Japanese arcades? I’ve heard some explanations before, but I’m kind of fuzzy on how it works exactly. What are the BP amounts required for each level? How many BP does it take to be a Grand Master, etc. Obviously you gain BP for winning and lose BP for losing but I’m just wondering about the details. For example do you gain alot of BP for beating someone who has much more BP than you?

if i was there, i’d head straight to the kiss and touch joint in kabukicho, praying that the bouncer would let me in and not get harass by some nigerian on the way.

hmm good question… I dunno, BUT i have a hint. I saw a lower BP beat a pretty damn high BP player and AmeriKen said “wow look that guy is going to get about 200 BP for that fight” so I guess… if 200 points is a great increase then if… Mago has like 300 and somthing thousand… then all I can say is… damn…

what in the world are you talking about man!? haha wow… interesting people on here, but thanks for posting

oh yea and remember when I told you that Top players get bored of fighting each other sometime at Big Box? well AmeriKen told me that they still put up with it because they are also trying to accumulate points so yea beating someone higher than you should get you a lot of points and also when you beat someone near you I assume.

They share their strats, yup. Nemo even posted on his blog on how to play Chun. And from my experience playing at the arcades myself, they’d willing to give you tips on how to be better with your character(if they know) or how to beat defend against some of their moves. Most of them are a nice bunch of people. :wgrin:

This reminds me…a few months back I checked my phone for Mago’s win/loss record on the SF4 cell phone page. He had some MASSIVE streaks against Tokido’s Akuma, and I was thinking “…man, either Tokido sucks or Mago is just a beast.”

Reading this makes me glad to see that Tokido’s using that experience to crush all the other Sagat players out there. haha

you’re exactly right! When i went there and interacted with everyone I truly saw so harsh we can be about this game over here. I met a Zangief player from here that was having a money match with Marn ebcause of some trash talk on the SRK forums. But yea AmeriKen told me everyone is cool and Mago and Oijisanboy help him out with his Sagat and even Umehara gives him his opinion every now and then. The friendliness of that community is the reason why i was able to be introduced to a lot of these guys. Some of the Japanese players like Mago, Bouya, and Tokido really ate up the praise when i wanted a picture with them

Are Bouya and Aloha the same person?

That really is the main reason that japan always does so much better than us at everything, imo. They always tell each other how to beat what they are doing, forcing them to come up with the next level of counter to counter that, whereas americans generally keep everything to themselves and try to beat the opponent with unfamiliarity. If the top players in america from both sides of the nation actually told each other all their shit then everyone would come out of it much better players, imho.

not sure, could be, because some people are on the list twice… i really dont know good question

man kabukicho…:looney:

aloha and bouya are different players afaik

and yea JPN players will ALWAYS give you advice if you play in the arcades, especially if you go up and ask them for it. They’re very helpful I’ve found. Shit I remember playing at my arcade a few months back, and I was getting roasted by this dude (this was in VF5) and the dude sitting next to me playing his match looked at my screen and was like “yo you just gotta press Down when he does this and then counter with this move”… all the while playing his match lol

Thanks for sharing that good to see this guy get some recognition ecause it seems like he gets a little shafted by the language barrier.

im in

Whats up all this is ameriken.

Sup Ameriken! This is Rob. Nice meeting you when I was in Tokyo! Glad you made it to SRK.
