As another Ryu player, I’d love to receive a beatdown by Daigo in a Ryu mirror match LOL. Anyways, thanks for letting us know about your adventures. Nice to know that Kim1234 and Ameriken are holding there own over there. I’d love to see the two prodigal sons(not literally, just a fun term) return home and show us the skills they’ve attained over there.
I swear we’ve faced each other before on PSN recently, or maybe I just came across your name and got a “unable to play” message. But your name sounds very familiar to me. If we did face each other, I guess you won since I’m a scrubby Ryu who spams tick throws and cross ups.
hmm maybe… my name is pretty catchy I think heh, but yea I have a funny video of my fiance asking about Justing Wong I need to ask her if I can post it, its hilarious… she knows nothing of our community so yea it an hilarious video I will talk to her tomrorow morning and ask her, lets have our fingers crossed because its a hilarious clip… in my opinion
Hopefully AmeriKen will post here soon its mornign now in Japan but when he gets the chance to figure how to post maybe you can call hear from him he’s a real cool guy. And I was also wondering… who is Sabin I saw him post in my forum… I know he’s a famous player here right? I was just curious
do you have any vids of Makoto, the vega (claw) player?
ahh sorry I dont but I did see him, I learned about him when I was there… to be honest with everyone I was just a Daigo fanboy when i went to Japan but I also knew of Mago, Oijisan, Itabashi, Nuki and Nemo… but when I got their AmierKen introduced me to Shiro, Bouya, Tokido, Bonchan, TKD and ahh so many more, and so I now I finally know more about the Japanese fight scene… I also just uploaded a video of Marn, Itabashi, Marn, and TKD standing at Big Box
That’d be great if we had a guy in Japan letting us know what’s going on over there. Like this guy is the new hotness or so and so are planning to attend Evo next year.
As for Sabin, that’s Arturo “Sabin” Sanchez. He’s probably the most well known Dhalsim and Seth player in America and probably the best as well with both characters. He finished top 16 or so at Evo and he along with Ryan Hart were the only 2 to beat Daigo in money matches at Evo out of the dozen or so guys who played Daigo.
Sigh. I miss a real arcade atmosphere. Rows of cabs, and other players huddling around to catch a glimpse of whats going on while waiting their turn. The hustle and bustle of all the other arcade machines running and people having a good time. At least there used to be some semblance of it back in the old days here in the states.
It just doesn’t feel the same sitting at home playing, or even at a local tourney where you’re in some dude’s house with one or two tvs and people laying around on the couch, or in some dumb conference hall with crappy 24 inch monitors trying to scrape by while playing on the floor.
Great videos man, in fact some of the best street fighter 4 videos to date simply because we catch a glimpse of the real scene. How I yearn for it. From the looks of it, Ameriken would certainly be a valuable member to the community.
… Ohhh that Sabin… haha well I’m honored he looked at my thread. But yea Daigo is no God in Japan… he gets beat here and there but of course is win percentage is amazing it should be on the versus city list link I posted. AmeriKen told me he beats every now and then inlcuding Daigo, Mago, Shiro, and Oijisan Boy but of course thats how street fighter is, he knows they are better than him, but still I saw how nervous Mago got in their fight AmeriKen was really pushing him so yea he’s very well respected
Another fun and interesting thing he told me that some top players avoid fighting each other because they all play against each other at big box so much that it gets boring and they almost know the outcomes so yea its like how we get bored playing with the same old friend sometimes. Everyone is truly friendly with each other at Big Box. Unlike the animosity we have here haha. But yea I saw bouya and Iyo chatting it up and Nemo and shiro were conversing also. Even I got into some of the conversations… I truly in heaven… wow
Big box must be heaven for these dudes after work. I wish we had that over here on a larger scale.
Pretty cool that you got to meet him and all the top Japanese players. Also cool that you’re from Oklahoma. I live in Norman, so it’s cool to see someone local playing Daigo lol.
Oh another interesting thing that AmeriKen told me was his reaction to the EVO grand Finals with Wong and Daigo. AmeriKen never heard of EVO so when I told him he checked it out and he told me that he could tell that Daigo was limited based on what he could truly due at Big Box in Japan… I’m not saying he was holding back, but AmeriKen could see that he was not doing anything fancy or risky due to the fact he was playing with a joystick and not an arcade cabinet (and of course of Jwong’s skill) and of course I’m sure Justing wong puts up with the same factor so I still know they were playing on even fields and that they gave their best with what they had. When we went to GoddGarden he also noted to me as Mago was playing that Mago was playing safer than he does at Big Box because of the differences in feeling with joysticks, and inputs because they were playing with Hori’s and TE sticks… so I guess the arcade cabinet factor can influence the top players. I also could see the difference of Daigo’s play at big box and evo vids. But I could not see the difference with MAgo’s because I do not evaluate his vids as much
Daigo’s no God but he’s still immensely popular over there

Really? I might be going to Norman tomorrow because I have friends that live there… I wonder if we know the same people in the community but yea we should play each other sometime I might be there tomorrow to hang out with my buddies and deal with my jet lag still. But yea I have pictures of myself with Daigo, Iyo, Shiro, Mago, Nemo, Tokido, Bonchan, Bouya, Oijisanboy, AmeriKen, and Marn. Daigo also signed my TE stick template… oh god my street fighter life has been fulfilled
Interesting stuff
hahah yea I rememeber that vid… surprisingly a lot of people left him alone at big box like Marn and Jwong said in their interviews… so I seemed like the only crazy person that was asking for pictures, autographs and stalked him with my camera haha
the funny thing is that when he met me I could tell he was like “oh a crazy fan from America” but then I met AmeriKen and he took me GodsGarden and introduced me to Daigo and I was like “oh I already met him heh” I could see Daigo looked at me differently with respect because I was with AmeriKen… haha I think Daigo was really confused who I was and why I was there… Even Marn and other American players were confused who I was because I was with AmeriKen all the time so some Japanese wanted to fight me at GodsGArden because I was with AmeriKen and some Amerikens were wondering If I was Japanese and was a friend of the amazing Sagat Player (AmeriKen) but the truth was… I was just a street fighter fan waiting for his fiance to get off work… she was the one and only reason I was in Japan but dam I got so lucky
In the 90’s arcade here in Quebec(canada) was very popular but most of them closed … Because of drug Problem.
I don’t know if there any arcade place with sf4 Machine …
Most of the arcade place i know got some interesting machine but they’re mostly racing machine or Pinball machine and there’s just a few of them.
Yeah the atmosphere was always a lot different …Especialy here in the 90’s … I remember a lot of folk waiting hours to play the Mk2 Machines … Some folk could waste 100 bucks on that machine. It’s very addictive.
is amerikan wife’s hot?
haha you know… I actually did meet his wife… she’s cute. haha geez I hope he posts soon so he can answer your questions haha
It seems you’re new found friendship has started to impair your ability to spell the name of your country
Just playing but anyways, I guess some of us Asians blend in pretty well, until we start speaking that is.
