Helping Middle and South Americans is ultimately going to a good thing, but I see this as an asset to trade for rejecting Middle Eastern/North African migrants. By giving this up now, he will have to deal with leftist pressure for MENA migrants later. The end goal is to say because you only have so much resources and you can only help so many people, you chose South Americans over MENA migrants because South Americans are less risky and more relateable.
Right now he’s not negotiating from an advantageous position and it makes him look desperate.

With all that’s at stake Trump’s shift to the center on immigration was predictable. He needs a higher ceiling of voters and he’s not getting it done with what he has. I watched both Hannity shows and I can see this is not just a pitch to Hispanics but to women too.
Very soon Crooked Hillary is going to give a speech on Alt-right and try to convince people that Trump is racist and also hates women. I don’t think this is a good move for a number of reasons but I’m guessing she wants to see what will stick. With her deteriorating health I’ll be impressed if she does 20 minutes unseated.

Trump has to pivot to the hispanic and black vote and he can’t win without them because the white vote is extremely splintered right now. The support for trump from black and hispanic voters exists based on certain assumptions

There is certainly a sizable portion of the hispanic vote that will vote for trump based on the fact that they immigrated here legally. Not only did they “wait”, they spent real money to be here, the idea that some asshole can come here for free won’t sit well with them especially since these assholes will now have the means to compete with them over blue collar jobs. There’s a group of hispanics that are older, 2nd or 3rd gen to US and possibly don’t speak Spanish don’t like when being spoken to in Spanish, and don’t like the idea of how “rampant” welfare and drug use is in this country plus the jobs situation, these people will vote for Trump.
What trump needs though is more hispanic support, however this can be an issue because a lot of hispanic people my age are or where Sander supporters, are for open borders and or easy immigration, have or know illegals.

its not that border patrol doesn’t get paid well, border patrol simply has too much land to cover to be effective. As long as drugs remain illegal in the US, cartels and individuals will have a financial motives to find ways through the border. An easy way to choke and slow illegal immigration is to kill the need for routes accross the border. Human trafficking doesn’t make enough money by itself.
